1 - Wipeout Pure (or Omega Collection), keeping aside what the novelty that added the PS1 games, this is my favorite one specially regarding gameplay and content
2 - Crash Team Racing, when released I really loved it. Really fun gameplay, multiplayer and also getting all the stuff from each stage
3 - F-Zero X, my favorite entry in the series. The first one had the novelty extra and was super awesome too, but I think this one nailed id better in all fronts. Stunning OST.
4 - Out Run 2006 Coast 2 Coast (PSP), the Sega arcade racing experience masterfully condensed with a meaty single player content for an awesome portable port. Stunning OST too
5 - Motorstorm Pacific Rift (and/or Motorstorm Apocalypse), really awesome and epic. Love that nitro mechanic that can make your vehicle explode and the asymetric design of the vehicles with parts of the roads that are better or worse for each type
6 - Pacer, by far the best Wipeout spiritual successor. Super epic and better than most Wipeout games

Without all the other players in jets and hover bikes/cars it feels like a completely different game. I honestly get snowrunner vibes from it, just really chill.

What makes it special is in the name. Grand Theft Auto.

I car jack, I have an auto shop and bike club where i can upgrade and sell vehicles, theres the 'gone in 60 seconds' style list of cars to get, I have another business that involves stealing and then selling those cars. Also my scrap yard to either do tow truck missions or the multi part heists that involve stealing high end cars. Also drug dealing stuff.

It's like nothing else.

This is a special game and I encourage people to play it it changes your perspective on driving and cars.
It truly is a love letter to cars. The attention to details is simply unparalleled, from speed warning chimes in old Japanese cars to used letter seats when you buy cars from used car dealership. Heck, a fun details that you really only notice in VR is that they have accurately detailed keys for each car. There are so many details that it is impossible to remember or even list all of them and a lot of them aren't even visible through regular game play.

It and gt sport are also the first racing games that made me actively drive in a sportsman-like manner( ie, no ramming) because I don't want to even scratch the beautifully detailed cars. I also love how there is a dedicated section that tells you the history of each car which just adds to the charm.

Even gameplay wise, I like how they have slowly made the cars lean more towards over steer instead of understeer model that they had when the game first launched. Cars are just far more fun to drive now( which is kind of crazy as even at launch they still felt amazing to drive, they just somehow made it better).

Driving at spa, watching as the sunsets and rises, the weather naturally changing from sunny to cloudy to rainy and back. The track undergoing transformation and your car having scratches from the tiny mistakes you made, it just feels special.

The game radiates the passion the developer team had for it.

#7 Driver - Redefined what a driving game could be for me by emulating classic action movies.

#6 Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed - Impressive handling for its time and filled with beautiful cars and tracks.

#5 Crazy Taxi 3 - Fictionalized Vegas, New York, and San Francisco are your playground as you hit some major air in this arcade racer about driving NPCs between locations.

#4 Ford Racing 3 - Fantastic selection of Ford cars with visually varied tracks and arcadey gameplay.

#3 Test Drive Unlimited 2 - A glamorous life simulator with some satisfying driving.

#2 Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled - Best handling kart racer with track design that rewards exploration, story beats, and challenges to keep the player entertained.

#1 Forza Horizon 3 - Great mix between simulation and arcade racing with jaw dropping Australian locales rendered with impressive fidelity and filled with fun events across an open world.

P.S. looking forward to Tokyo Xtreme Racer when it fully releases (hopefully) later this year.

1. GT7 - 5100 Hours later and I'm still fully enjoying it after the last physics update the cars handle better and the driving is more rewarding.

2. Project Gotham Racing 4 - Being able to race bikes vs cars is till so wild to be one of my favorite racing games ever.

3 . Project Cars 2 - Its delisted now but you can still find physical copies. One of the better sims on console with a unmatched weather system and multi class racing.

4. Driveclub - Super fun arcade driving game great weather system and car list its delisted but you can still buy physical copies.

5. RiMS Racing - If you like bikes you can go wrong with Rims has few bikes but the detail to each bikes is super and the riding is great.

6. Need for Speed - Excellent open world racing game the driving is fun and the customization are super.

7. Grid Legends - Excellent racer with a fun story if you like story in your driving game.

8. Forza Motorsport 4 - The best in the series I owned the first 4 and the 4 was my favorite overall.

Using a combination of a driving wheel and a light gun, Starsky and Hutch is a surprisingly great coop driving game.

Sonic All-star Racing Transformed is also excellent. And I think Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is the best in the series.

How does no one mention this game? This beast of a game. Truly the finest futuristic racer ever made. The levels are jaw dropping, the sense of speed unparalleled, and it's all skill baby. Get good, or cry.

EXCiiiTE!! TRUCk

Underrated, A+ GEM. The sequel went too far off the rails, but was such a glorious surprise for the Wii's Launch. Amazing arcade racer.

Thankfully it's on the Switch's N64 app. Really fun, but difficult arcade futuristic racer with combat. Loved it as a kid. Still appreciate it to this day.

Auto Modellista

Didn't know this game got ported to GameCube. Had a blast with it on PS2. It's controls took a little while to get used to, but once it clicked it was a really fun almost arcade styled Gran Turismo lite.

Need for Speed: Pro Street

Of all the NFS games, this was my favorite (X360). From drag races to street races, it felt like it had it all. You could customize the controls to make shifting feel awesome. Really great arcade racer with lots of customization.

Most of your images aren't showing. The last three are a mystery...

Probably have been mentioned but Toyko Xtreme racer 2025, still in early access atm, is the best racing games I have played in recent years.

It perfectly captures the magic back in PS1-arcade era. A slower and more linear game progression felt so refreshing in this day and age. Instead of getting 20 super cars on the first day and countless mission on the map to keep you "engage", you get to buy one entry level car, stick with it for quite a while and work you way up.

If you like old style Wangan midnight, Shutoko battle and to some extend Kaido battle, you should definitely try this game.
