Games for kids (5yo) on ps5

Any recommendations for kids games on ps5? I have a 5yo old daughter who loves to play sometimes on the ps5. I only allowed her to play more or less 45min now and then, but she is tired of Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol games.

I don't want it to be too difficult with a huge learning curve and it needs to be fun in relatively short bursts.

It doesn't need to be a masterpiece of game design, but i also don't want to buy trash.

Any recommendations from other parents?

Astro Bot

Sackboy's Big Adventure

Spyro Reignited (Although, Spyro 3 might be hard, the mini-games were made harder compared to the PS1 originals due to broken physics, Spyro 1 and 2 should be good though)

Sonic Generations

Sonic Colors

Lego Horizon seems like it could be a good fit. Any of the Lego games, really.

Mortal Kombat 1

Defintely Astrobot and Sackboy's Big Adventure, you might also check out Knack 1 and 2 (I know it is PS4, but still)

The Bluey video game is very much like the Peppa Pig game, we all liked it.

Both of my kids love Goat simulator 3, it’s very silly.

I was thinking about MediEvil remake but I'm not sure. Its has horror elements but it looks like a cartoon.

Digimon World: Next Order

I'll add Alba: A Wildlife Adventure as one of the better kids games I've come across. Should still be available on PS Store but I'd wait for a sale if possible.

The main thing is finding and photographing animals and doing other environmental cleanup stuff. It wasn't too long or frustrating but still had a decent story with some tension and stakes that might keep kids interested.

My kid liked A Short Hike as well but that one takes slightly more platforming skill.

Forget a modern console.

Pick up a wii from freecycle - Soft Mod

  • Super Mario Galaxy ( You can use additional controller to help )
  • Mario Kart
  • Wii Sports
  • Boom Blox
Tons of fun to play together. Move onto Ps5 later if you want

Astro bot for sure. My daughter LOVED it to pieces.

Don't take my advice though I let my kid watch me play Ninja Gaiden 2 and she said "Slice and dice" LMAO.

Bluey and SpongeBob she really enjoyed those too.

Last one I remembered, We played Sonic Super stars and she enjoyed playing with me. Good Luck!

Astrobot is the actual answer. My 5 year old is obsessed with it. No words to read, all just great level design that can be easily followed, and isn't difficult enough that they get frustrated. Mario games can be complex for a 5 year old to start with imo.

If she likes cars the “open world” car games is how I got my son started let them drive around

Knack 2 is great in co-op mode for kids. Peggle 2 is as easy as it gets to control but is still entertaining.

My 7 y.o. nephew loves Among Us as well.

The issue with certain kids is that Astro bot games or platformers in general may not be as easy for them to grasp or stick with.

My son loses attention on games like this as a 7 year old easily.

Yet give him a platformer game on Roblox with his own avatar and he will play for hours. Or Minecraft he will build and build. He enjoys FallGuys as well.

The big thing with a game like Roblox or Minecraft is you need to sit there with them or play with them. Roblox even with all the parental settings on can still be a bit devious so you have to monitor the play session. Too much in your face use robucks to buy a jet pack bull shit when you fail a level, and you have to insure they don’t use any chat or voice by turning it off.

I like Roblox a lot but it is your responsibility.

I’ve tried Nintendo games and the only one he remotely liked was Mario Kart.

Edit: my son did beat both sponge bob games, and we did do it takes two together as well.
