Still working through Mav's quest but Cit better look out for Ayaka even if you have Lumine.
I mentioned the Xilonen price thing previously but haven't found an answer. Found a single reddit thread and they think the price is only part of lifespan/health/vitality, not the entire thing. Something regarding terms in other languages don't necessarily mean death.
Not sure what you mean on what the Fatui were researching, except for the thing to redo the leylines they decided to not use. The ones in Cit's quest were just bodyguards. You mean that one cave in the south-eastern part of Natlan? I just assumed Fatui being Fatui.
Didn't Xilonen say she had to trade her life to forge an ancient name for the traveler since they weren't from Natlan and something about "Mavuika, you know the cost". Or was that sidestepped when Ronova gave us the scroll in Ororon/Capitano's quest essentially for free?

I'm no lore buff and for the most part care very little about the story so I may be wrong but what I understood is that it would shorten her life not kill her outright.
I hate most of Natlan quests including Archon and story quests. They are almost always lets eat, celebrate or have some competition. The only quest I liked and remember is the Dragon one with a lot of lore behind it.
Found out there's a barrier for bringing your dinos out of Natlan. Children of Echos tribe also has a barrier around it for anything that isn't a ground dino.

Sorry didn't realize you were replying to me until just now lol. I miss those Yandere Ayaka memes, they were pretty funny.
Anyways, I assumed either that the price thing was lifespan OR they got to bypass it completely at the El Cap & Ororon part. I can't remember exactly what transpired there, but I seem to remember they got the scroll easier than they were expecting to?
Regarding the Fatui, it was after the leyline plan reveal, they found some 'ancient technology' that the Fatui were looking into. It was the part where you play as Chasca and her sister is helping you out. I think it was the Ochkonatlan "Source Technology" but they never paid off that plot point in any sort of way.

Even if that is true, I don't think they ever touched on the point again. Kinda silly considering that even giving like a 5th or 8th of your life is a huge ask for a random stranger. Turned out to be worth it I guess, since they won, but still. I think they were probably making that the original reason that Xilonen was avoiding Mav the whole time, but then they chose to make it into a "lol i'm so lazy" (she's actually totally not, probably the 2nd busiest character in the region) joke instead.
In other news, I got a Feather artifact from the Obsidian set that I wanted to give to Mav. Substats were decent starter rolls in Crit and Crit damage at level 1, with DEF (flat) as the 3rd substat, with the last one hidden until +4. I meant to just level it up to +4 to see what the last stat was, but unchecked the option previously at some point and it used my artifact juice since I ran out of 4* fodder...
You'll never guess the result
The ONE character in the game that doesn't need ER at all. Felt like one of the HoYo devs was sitting there manipulating my account and laughing the whole time
Anyways, got C2 Citlali. So my total haul this patch was Mav C2R1, Citlali C2R1. Insanely better than I ever expected when starting the patch. Now I'll be saving up for probably Skirk. I really hope they announce Mizuki going to standard, but I have a feeling they won't.
I'm hoping those story bits were purposefully left unresolved for upcoming quests. We still have half a version to go after all.
Been seeing a lot of criticism on the Natlan Archon Quests, but I'm getting more and more convinced it has more to do with whether you like the character than the actual quality of the quests. So many who say they prefer Sumeru and Fontaine also complain about the 'male gaze' in Natlan. Many of their grievances also apply to other AQs. All of them have had serious flaws in both writing and pacing after all.

Yea I liked the more straightforward Archon quest this time. It was nice to see something a little more basic and not subversion just for subversion's sake. The pacing could have been better and it would have been nice if the antagonists were explained/fleshed out more. There was so much foreshadowing with the eye thing from the previous AQ, and then it just ended up being "Lol idk we'll turn into a dragon with 2 swords or whatever who cares lol" The scenes and the uplifting story itself was a nice change of pace.
I do see what the complainers are saying in that Mav never really had any growth/character moments outside of her promo videos, but she wasn't obnoxious or cocky about it like a western female protag would be.
Hope there's a nice payoff for our lil saurian buddy quest line. Looks like leaks say 5.5 will be the volcano area added to the game, so we should see that finish up at that point.

That wasn't fatui. That was someone from the children of echos butthurt they couldn't complete the training. Also, I thought the captain thing was to negate Mav's death for using the power during the war arc, not to substitute the price for forging the name.
But you were literally hiding and advancing on the Fatui. It wasn't what the quest was about, but they were there researching something separate from the Flower-Feather clan stuff.

I kind of remember sneaking around but don't remember why. Don't think the fatui were in Chasca's quest. Also, I thought the captain thing was to negate Mav's death for using the power during the war arc, not to substitute the price for forging the name.
So I finally finished fontaine, I thought it would've been awful since some people told me it was, but I actually enjoyed it, all of the story quests were basically murder mystery vibes; maybe the experience was better for me because I played it all in one go instead of having to wait for updates.
Anyway, I would've preferred if fontaine was actually destroyed, at least partially, and you could only explore it by swimming afterwards.
Spent far too much time this past week trying to raise as many primogems as I could while Mav was still on the limited banner. Got rewarded today with...C3 for my Qiqi. Mav will have to stay C2 for now, but at least I finally finished up getting her weapon to Lv. 90.
So this TikTok ban looks to have further implications for CN owned media. HoYo recently got fined 20 mil by the FTC for not having age checks/marketing to minors/vague lootbox rules, and after TikTok went down tonight, the owner of the IP (Bytedance) shut down access to a whole slew of their games/apps for the US, seemingly in protest.
I wouldn't be surprised to see this stuff escalate and all HoYo/CN developed games get hit in the future. It's gonna be interesting, to say the least.
Wonder if VPNs would bypass the block, or if they'll just shut down the "Americas" servers. If so, sorry Canada/Mexico/South America I guess.
People acted like China getting all of this soft power in the form of media and entertainment was no big deal, but I guess we'll find out soon.
I was missing like 5 anemoculus from Mondstadt and I finally managed to get them today. I'm quite happy with that because I’ve been postponing it for a while now.

I looked through the FTC complaint and I found this part pretty hilarious. Yeah, for sure that those adverts that HoYo were putting out were aimed at children and not a certain subset of the otaku culture...
I'm really curious about how this whole thing will evolve over the next period. Maybe just implementing the changes FTC suggested in their ruling (which are pretty sensible things IMO) is enough, and they'll leave Genshin and other gachas be.

I'd personally love to see gacha games as a whole go 18+ at minimum. They should not be gambling grooming simulators. Plus then there'd be no more reason for silly censorship, at least in the US. CN though, they sure do love censor shorts under every dress/skirt/coat/.

HoYoverse does not make these heroes available directly for purchase, and so the only way that players can obtain them is by opening loot boxes. Five-star hero prizes in Genshin Impact are not merely cosmetic, but offer direct and immediate advantages to players seeking to advance and excel in the game. As HoYoverse acknowledged in a product marketing presentation to a gaming platform partner, Genshin Impact is “pay to win.” As a result, the core gameplay creates pressure on players to open loot boxes to advance in the game, and, frequently, to spend real money to do so.
Feels like its written by someone who has no idea what they are talking about.
HoYoverse uses suspenseful and exciting animations and sound effects to make the experience of opening loot boxes appealing. HoYoverse even offers players the option to “10-pull,” or spend 10 Wish tokens at the same time (at cost of $20 or more, if the player is using paid virtual currency) to open 10 loot boxes in rapid succession, triggering an uninterrupted series of these animations and effects.
When a player spends a Wish token to open a loot box, this triggers an animation in which a shooting star falls from the sky. The star bursts into color, indicating the rarity level of the prize the player is about to receive, with gold indicating a five-star prize. Next, a silhouette of the prize appears, surrounded by a halo of light. The prize then flashes into focus, accompanied by the prize’s name and star rating. Each of these visual elements is underscored by sound effects that build suspense while the prize is hidden, emit a flashing sound when the prize is revealed, and then clink like coins as the star rating appears.
Overly dramatic description? Is there a gacha that does this without any suspense?
Was curious about the Sniperwolf stuff, so I watched the video the document mentions. Its super obvious she is playing on a account that was given to her. She has no idea what she is doing, hints its her first time playing, but at the same time has a character lv 70 and Zhongli and Yonfei - which she apparently just pulled - are already lv 50. She also has tons of recipes but no idea how cooking works.
I dont know what happened here, but if Mihoyo wanted to deceive people, they could have done something more extreme than turning a purple wish into Zhongli. If this account was given to her, they could have put at least 180 wishes onto that account and tell her to pull for Zhongli and then use that footage for that video.
Whats really insane is that this document claims that Sniperwolf received 100.000$ for doing that Genshin promo. Imagine getting this much money for this little work and then producing such a low-effort and low-quality video.

Finished ch 5 of the natlan quest.
Natlan was pretty cool overall, but I thought it was kinds lame how the archon just lost her power and capitano was similarly disabled; kind of a cheap way to keep the two strongest benched for most of the story.
Someone chimed in on the stream and mentioned the lead up to the final battle would be a bit expanded if you did all the other world and tribal quest first. That makes it a shame genshin doesn't have replayable quests.
I did like there were some actual stakes in ch4 with all the permanent deaths.
The final battle had kiana/himeko flavour to it that was cool.
Dunno why everyone is acting so casual about the fake sky btw, wonder if that is just a tiny bit of lore only to be revisted years from now, or if more of it comes soon.
I laughed at the cringe nerd dance game at the end though
Had to really scrape the bottom of the barrel there, but managed to get mavuika's weapon with only a few hours left
Really had to push the content there, but at least I managed to get her and her weapon in a couple days without cracking open the wallet

Rather than any problem with the game itself, I think they just need to be way more careful about who they partner up with to promote their games.
Decided to do a couple singles to get a 4-star (the ones on this banner are just to valuable to pass up) and I got a Chev con. I'd keep going, but I'll keep my pity low in case Iansan turns out a 4-star. Also decided to hoard my Acquaint Fates for 5.5 when Mizuki enters the standard banner.
Dropped what little I had (~10k gems and a dozen or pinks) into the chronicled wish banner for Shenhe….
And got her!
Don’t care if she’s irrelevant or not good anymore. Always wanted her since I played the game. She’s one of my favs from Liyue. I’ll make her work somehow.
With how rare those Sanctifying Elixers are, you should be able to build a artifact to +20 exactly how you want it. They keep doing half measures when we're at like 100 characters in the game that we have to build and gear. Even if you get 2 rolls in the right stats, Flat DEF is gonna suck up all the rest.
Anyways, official Kirara birthday art and special program announcement:
5.4 trailer (in JP presumably due to EN voice actor shit again):
Huh, I stand corrected about HoYo not letting us in the hot springs in Inazuma...
Also, Rosaria official birthday art:
*edit*
Looks like the Breakout minigame is back, I'm actually hyped for that one, I liked it a lot last time. Hopefully they don't dumb it down like the tend to do with rerun events.
Also, confirmed that Mizuki is going to standard banner after this. Hell yea!
So Mizuki is standard, but no Inazuma Chronicled Wish yet. It would have been very soon after the current one, but it made sense to have it coincide with the event.

I was doing the new Lantern Rite quest, and it's a bit jarring that some of the characters involved in the quest are not voiced (Hu Tao, Keqing, and one or two more I think). Maybe I should switch to JP dub for the rest of this event story.
Anyway, this line from Hu Tao about her being a lady of culture had me laugh a little.

I haven't touched it yet because I'm pondering the same thing. On one hand, the EN dub has been pretty solid with a few outliers in both a positive and negative direction, but I'm really tired of this VA strike. Even more so after I found out that most of the Genshin VAs aren't even union VAs. They're just doing it in case the union gets vindictive and maybe could affect them getting union jobs if they want them in the future.
I do have pity for artists that are having their stuff "stolen" by AI, but at the same time, for localizers and shit like this, I can't wait until it becomes at least a bargaining chip or a call back down to earth for these people. English Genshin VAs have been way too uppity about their politics and personal views, and now this shit. Won't be sad to see some of them go.
But yea, I might just switch to JP for this one too. I hope they eventually add a story scene viewer in the game beyond just the text/voice stuff. But if it's only English dealing with it, they probably won't bother. The fact that the latest archon quests got fucked by the VA strike sucks, for the main story. Then when it's settled and they're back in, anybody that already completed it wont' get to see the scenes with full VA.
It's just that they have been hoarding all these Inazuma characters to perfectly fit a Chronicled banner. Yoimiya, Ayaka, Ayato, Itto, Yae, Kokomi. Many of them have been gone for about a year too. Guess we'll see when/if it shows up.
Tried a few misc rolls to see if I could nab a Chev constellation, no dice. But I did get an early copy of Yan Lan, so I will have her at C1 after Lantern Rite ends. She's pretty fun. Kind of a mishmash of Keqing and a Shielder, I'm sure I can find a spot for her somewhere.
Speaking of lantern rite, sure was very Liyue of them to instantly hit us with like a 4000 word unskippable essay right at the beginning about these new literal who's in lore that we're supposed to care about.
I was instantly
But at least I got to hear Yun Jin's beautiful voice again, singing like the little angel she is.
The Tetris minigame gets actually pretty tough at Hu Tao. Tougher than I expected for a side event.
You're on EU server right? It's probably worth a try, join somebody's world and ask them to start the domain, see if you can join. I'd help, but I'm on Americas.

Oh no, sorry. I misunderstood the problem you were having. I thought you meant you didn't unlock the domain yet, but now I think you mean that it's the wrong day of the week, so you're time gated?
I played a lot yesterday and cleared a bunch of stuff I had left in Liyue. I still have a few more things to tidy up before moving on to Inazuma, but hopefully I'll finish them by the end of the day. That said, I've just listened to the music theme of Raiden Shogun and I'm so looking forward to meet her, lol. The music is fucking good!
