Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

You said you people.
Nah i said "Yet people are willing to call it"....
I don't think slimy is fat enough to be considered more that one person but everything is possible.

I'm also half fucking with you, if my re engine joke wasn't already an hint :messenger_blowing_kiss:
Look, I'm not saying the game looks bad and the art style is carrying it a lot. It's just not that impressive to me.

Yes because, you don't develop a game for all these years then in the final stretch of development decide to introduce physics. That is if you're sane... If you've ever worked on a game, better yet, even played around in a game engine like unreal or unity, you'll see that physics introduces a lot of bugs... That's something you work on from day 1.... If it's not there now, I don't expect to see a high level of physical interactivity in the game.
Just because you don't notice it in a few seconds of pre-alpha gameplay doesn't mean that none exist... and it doesn't mean that it's not something they haven't worked on either.

Then, physics, interactivity with the environment, etc. are things inherent to the graphics engine. I repeat, imagine thinking that the most plausible thing is that none of that is present when they use a graphics engine that excels in those aspects and that the same Studio implemented in a game where they weren't even necessary.

🤷

Yeah i expect the forza studio to translate everything they did in racing games to an open world, it would be absolutely idiotic not to do so.

Unless the game got so heavy because of nocs simulation etc. And they have no room for that but i doubt it.

I don't expect red faction but also not a completely static game.

Nobody can be sure of anything, but to think that it is most likely to expect that the interaction with the environment, physics, etc. will be "null" in the final game when the FH of the same Studio, the same engine, open world as well, "same" assets/vegetation have stood out in that..... It would truly be something strange and surprising to me and we would have to know what explanation it would have.

Voice actor Khary Payton, who plays Black Panther (Azzuri, the grandfather of T’Challa), has provided an update, indicating that it may be a “Christmas situation.”

Speaking to The Direct at MultiCon in Los Angeles, Payton said, “We’re still working. We’re planning on 2025.

“And to be playing him in the video game, playing his grandfather, be playing a version of Black Panther, and looking on there and seeing that it’s me… It’s like the most photo-realistic…We want people to play this game and have the entire family sit on the sofa and watch it like they’re watching ‘Game of Thrones,’ or ‘The Walking Dead,’ or something. We’re looking for just an incredible cinematic experience for everybody, and I pinch myself.”

this doesn't bode well for the game
sounds a lot like a Telltale-style type of game ..

PS. have a look at this scene and tell me I am not right about cinematography and cinematic lighting as the key differentiator between photorealistic games that have bland visuals and those that have talented DOPs

Didn't they already said that this wasn't a gameplay centric game??!

I was fully expecting something like hb2 or more restricted.

it's still possible that it will be more similar to The Order1886 than a Telltale game but still... I hope you're right and they are prioritising gameplay. because if they pull this off, it will be far more impressive than HB2

I think it's gonna be even more restricted than hb2, you can't have that fidelity with a proper game.

True, ...or we might have been shown only cutscenes and the actual gameplay is a notch or two less detailed
I am personally looking forward to seeing some gameplay; this is the only game that managed to impress me with not only its visuals but also its facial animations and overall cinematography

unpopular opinion:
HB2 would have been also just as impressive, had they gone with a more expressive actress. at first, I remember thinking that Ninja Theory might not have been skilled enough to do Senua's facial animations justice but then I watched some BTS footage of the game and was convinced that all the oddities with the animations are actually precise captures of the actress's rather emotionless features.

Rumours of Modern Warfare 4 coming in 2026/27 on current gen systems only with a version on the next Xbox too. No PS4/X1. About time if so...

I thought IW did a great job (technically speaking) with MW'19 on the tail end of the gen and was really hyped to see where it'd go next with new consoles on the horizon.....unfortunately the games got worse, they didn't aim as high technically; and they were hamstrung by the PS4/X1 for years to come.

now take into account that the next-gen consoles are rumoured to be releasing in 2027, and now suddenly you've got yourself a 'cross-gen' title

I mean it does look like how lighting did on raster in previous gens. Not sure I see the flex. Probelight grids for open world dynamic time of day as been done countless times.

As I said in that other thread we had for a while on Lumen/RTGI vs raster, there's a shitload of tricks peoples have done with raster to make it believable and there's STILL room for improvement.

If the environment is destructible like a crafting/building game, or has drastic scene changes that are not scripted, then RTGI/Lumen solution makes more sense. Otherwise you can 99% fool users with raster for better performances, if you have the manpower to lit the scene for any kind of complex games. A demo is not much to go by. There's a reason why 4Agames don't ever want to go back to raster after doing Metro exodus EE. It's a pain in the A to lit in raster for anything that has scale.

A game like Silent Hill 2 has no reason to be ray traced. Its fully static. But it did save artistic time and allows for smaller teams.

SSR sure as fuck isn't a flex. Fuck SSR.
no chance in hell you would know it's not ray tracing if the guy didn't say that.
I don't believe you.
in no way it looks like "previous gen raster"
