Greg Miller to stream MGSV starting August 23rd; thru Mission 5, intro after release

Let's Plays of games the LP-er never played before are pretty boring and infuriating anyway. My fav ones are of people who already mastered the game.

Yeah you're right on that, I'm just a little disappointed that LPs have become so mainstream that bigger outlets make "Let's Plays" of them playing a portion of the game for some quick views and exposure. That's never what LPs were about.

I'll be avoiding it.

It is a total waste without the context of the intro - and only a week or so till it is out anyway. Why ruin an experience in such a way when you can't have it again. I rather go blind into the game and really savour it

I really wish they were holding back on spoilers like in previous games. Maybe a sign that Kojima has been entirely removed from the loop.

The content gets out there in a way that empowers people who want to ruin the game for others.

I don't think people should have to wait until everyone else has a chance to consume media before they get to enjoy it, for the sake of protecting others from those that might seek to spoil the game.

This is what they do for a living, and it's a good opportunity for them to get new viewers who don't mind watching the game early. Some people won't be able to play the game at release, but others shouldn't hold their streams until everyone has a chance to play it.

They're not doing this to spite the person that doesn't have a chance to play yet, that would be the person who seeks to spoil it on purpose.

A review is fine. But playing the game more than a week before release won't do anything to mitigate spoilers. And for Greg who claims to be a HUGE MGS fan. He should really know where the community is coming from.

He has a massive following and this can only spread potential spoilers no matter how small. This only hurts people trying to go into the game blind as now they have to limit any sort of interaction with twitter, youtube and even gaming forums.

Some of these replies are crazy. You don't like it or don't like Greg? Don't watch it!

IT's not about not watching it. He has a massive following. People will watch this and potentially spoil no matter how small it is. I like Greg a lot by the way. I'm glad Konami have faith in the game to even do this but I don't like this one bit.

And is it JUST him doing this or will there be others? Will he spoil the game by talking about it while he's playing?

Would you take issue with anyone streaming the game? Because there's always someone who hasn't played it, and every stream increases the potential for spoilers to be spread. And what about those who want to see more of the game before buying it? Should they have to wait so that it doesn't get spoiled for you?

My point being, what one considers spoiler is purely subjective, and even promotional stuff that you've seen, and were fine with seeing, is considered spoiler by some. Yet if they asked that publishers not release anything past a reveal trailer, for their sake, most people would find it ridiculous and unfair.

Must... not... watch...

hahaha!

Eh, I might watch some of it. Doesn't bother me too much as long as the intro remains a surprise. The hospital scene sounds like something that has to be experienced first hand.

As for the missions Greg wants to stream I'm alright with watching bits and pieces of it. Might skip cutscenes but I don't know if I'll enjoy watching Greg play to be honest. His GZ let's play was pretty awful.

Why is everyone tripping? The game is gonna leak next week anyway and the game will be up on YouTube in its entirety? Besides, he's cutting out the intro. No one is forcing anyone to watch, most importantly. Just avoid it. It's not that hard.

Aye, just need some self control.

Although, that's easier said than done haha.

That's what I'm saying

From what I got from Colin & Greg Live today, this is 1) an exclusive so only KF will be doing this (streaming every day) and 2) their intent is to showcase the gameplay and not spoil the story (so cutscenes may be skipped though it wasn't confirmed).

I would literally have no issue with this if he did this at the launch of the actual game. He's a media personality. I understand broken street dates and people getting the game early. But we get pissed when journalists spoil games in their own damn reviews.

This is a playthrough literally more than a week before release and he has a MASSIVE audience. I just expected someone who says they are a huge fan of this series to at least hold back until launch to give people a chance to go in as blind as possible.

With this. The floodgates are open. Again is this JUST him that's allowed to do this? He could easily let something slip while he's just playing the game.

Trolls and anyone looking to spoil can screencap, spam message boards, Youtube comments and twitter with ANY spoiler. Kinda hard to avoid things.

According to Greg they won't be showing the Hospital/intro. That goes up after launch. So I assume it's just the first 5 missions in Afghanistan.

I don't have to watch this to be spoiled in the world we live in.

This will surely affect the 10 people on this planet that still understand what the hell is going in the MGS storyline.

Pretty sure more than 10 people understand what's going on and still don't want the potential of any spoilers.

Seriously after the infamous MGS4 pic I don't blame anyone being extremely worried about this.

The reaction to this has been embarrassing and disgusting, i'm glad GAF have been reasonably civil about it, Greg's twitter ion the other hand is horrendous right now.

I understand you not wanting the game spoiled, but I'm not understanding why you're seemingly fine with the same potential spoiler-filled environment that this creates once the game is released. Even though there will still be millions who for whatever reason, won't be getting the game for weeks or months. And a lot of them are fans just as much as you.

Is it just because you are, presumably, lucky enough to be able to play it around release, so you don't care what gets out there at that point? Or majority of people will? Is that what's happening here?

Because those that won't be able to play it later are at an even bigger risk for spoilers. We can't ask everyone to not talk about a game or movie until everyone that wants to see it has seen it, and we can't just say, "well if you didn't want spoilers, should have watched or played it sooner". Just be careful and have a little self control, if something still gets spoiled for you somehow, it's unfortunate.

Fucking hell. Seal up him and Del Toro in a booth and sell the results to recoup the budget.

This is something I never knew I wanted but will definitely pay a ridiculous amount for.

OT: Not particularly interested in watching this, want the experience to be as fresh as possible, but I feel like I might cave and watch a few mins...

There are more than 10 people in this thread. :p I don't follow twitter or anything like that, so I'm not worried about myself. I can understand where people are coming from though.

it's pretty hard bro

it's not as easy as simply ignoring the vids, you pretty much have to avoid:

-twitter
-facebook
-certain GAF threads
-youtube comments/thumbnails
-any other gaming forum/comments section
-twitch chat

Then go and scream at Konami for doing this. It's their game and they can choose to do whatever they want with it. I'm a huge MGS fan and I have zero problems with this. I'll play the game regardless. No one is pointing a gun at my head to watch the stream.

I will make sure to include the sarcasm tag next time since it wasn't obvious enough ;p

Avoid gaming sites for a week, don't have asshole friends who would spoil stuff on FB and stay off Twitter and Youtube
