The problem is there is less incentive for people to buy an Xbox. That's not good for an already struggling console.

Exclusives from Sony, Nintendo and Sega (in the past) were and are always leagues ahead of multiplatform trash from Ubisoft, EA, Activision and other third party devs. With some rare exceptions like fromtsoft and cd project.

Exclusives are made to be ambitious, innovative and polished so they push consoles. If MS isnt going to make exclusives they will follow the sega route of creating some mediocre titles because that determination to sell consoles at any cost is no longer there.

It's probably not a good news for gaming but it's not even the point. People bought a console when there wasn't any doubt that MS was engaged in making console exclusives.

We can't compare this to Sega. Sega actually released a fucking good console with cult classic games, they were in big danger financially and saved themselves by becoming third party in the middle of the generation.

It's not like Microsoft engaged in any ambitious policy, that they produced any ambitious game before coming to the realization that it didn't work for them. They killed the brand by doing nothing except undermining it.

I disagree but it's all speculation. We'll see. Xbox shouldn't be awarded it's existence purely because there's some unwritten rule that there must be three major players in the console market. You're old enough. We were just fine with sega/Nintendo back in the day. We'll be fine again.
