Watched Longlegs last night. Very scary and I liked it! Anyone see it?
I thought it started out strong with a solid monster-of-the-week X-Files episode vibe, but didn't end up going anywhere satisfying. I've been on a mini Cage bender recently and Dream Scenario is the same way, so I got my fingers crossed for Pig.

Agreed I think like most horror movies it lost some steam after the first 1/3 to first 50%.

But I still enjoyed it to the end.

Great flick for sure. That and Heretic are my favorites of the recent horror movies.

Watched No One Will Save You last night. First act was great. Then it got really stupid and lost me. Such is the case with most horror movies.

Gonna rewatch the Swedish horror movie The Evil Next Door tonight. Fun little creature feature.

I loved the mood and atmosphere of the first 30 or so minutes, but as soon as Nic Cage showed up in full Nic Cage mode it completely lost me.

I'm so tempted to watch The Monkey in theaters. But I hate the theater experience. I read the short story which is written by Stephen King and loved it last year. I hope the movie does the short story justice

Not really a horror movie guy, The Ring was probably the most intense one I have ever watched. I don't care about the gore or anything, but the movie is made in the tension. For the most part I find Horror characters insufferable.

Scream is good
Alien is more of a horror film than Aliens.
The Ring
I have never watched Friday the 13th or nightmare on elm street and i grew up when those were big.

I'm not into gore aka torture porn. I'll tolerate gore if it's done well and not just shock value. Try watching The Witch it's one of my favorites. Fair warning it's bleak and disturbing

If you want something modern try Cuckoo. It's pretty mild scouts honor

The house(s) in Paranormal Activity are gigantic fuck you mansions complete with a garden and a pool and a driveway. Is this the American Dream? Minus the Poltergeists?
I haven't seen the phantom of the opera. Need to watch that. Do you know where I could watch such a film?

Thanks old man. I will check out one of those maybe.
No problem. The days of cheesy dumb slashers with even dumber characters and the dumbest plots are long gone. They're still around if that's what you're looking for in a horror movie but there's a wide variety of horror nowadays for people who aren't stuck on 80's style horror

Best decade is a toss-up for me between the 70s and 80s. I'd generally say the 80s were a little better mostly as a byproduct of high volume, but it balances out for me if we consider Giallo and thrillers with horror elements to be part of the broader genre. Every decade has at least a few standouts.

Top 3 horror movies for me are probably Videodrome, the Shining, and Hausu.

I watched Oddity with the wife on the weekend. Much better than I expected it to be and definitely one of the creepier horror movies I've seen in a while. I think it's on Shudder and absolutely better than 99% of the garbage Hollywood shits out.
I saw this at the movie theater a few months ago. I really liked it I still prefer the directors previous movie Caveat to Oddity

I enjoy every era of horror, wolfman 2025 had a good message, support your family, I like where they went with the virus.

Long legs was the best nic cage movie I’ve seen.

Watched Succubus last night. Ron Pearlman was in it. Been mentioned a few times on the forum recently and I'll repeat it - another horror that starts well but completely tails off after the second half. I'm going to start working my way through some Japanese horrors over the next few days. I've seen Audition, Grudge, Kwaiden, House and a few others.

Thai horror is really good. Japanese horror peaked with Kairo imo.

Saw Heart Eyes the other night. Comedy horror in the same vein as Happy Death Day etc. These movies are rarely scary or unique so it's good to have a couple of chuckles to maintain interest. Has Jordan Brewster so yes there is a F&F reference. But damn if the climax wasn't drawn out.
