I played Call of duty for the first time in nearly 10 years! Call of Duty 6 is a cesspool!

It’s simple. No game scratches the ‘quick game of shoot shoot’ itch like COD does. Many have tried, all have failed.

The content for the entry cost is also fantastic.

Folk will continue to hate, but the masses speak!
I still really enjoy jumping into some matches and running around not caring if I do well or not as I agree, nothing comes close to it

If I want too try hard I play something harder like Hell Let Loose

Aggressive take OP, COD hatred is fascinating to me, yes there’s so many menus, DLC, updates, cosmetics and junk but the movements are the best, gunplay I see good maps and campaigns. BO4, Vanguard WW2, BO Cold War, MW2019-MW3 and BO6 I like and are better than people give them credit for.

So I signed up with PC game pass and was downloading all the popular titles. Call of Duty 6 was up there so I figured I would give it a shot for old times sake. I could not believe what I experienced as soon as I booted the game.

*Right Away they are flashing battle passes and other shit to buy in your face: It's not enough for those who paid full price but they got to shove this shit down your throat.
*Huge Colorful banners that are just trying to pitch shit to buy. Even between matches they are shoving shit down your throat
*The Shit they do have for sale is horrendous and seems designed for a teenage boy. For example there is this woke liberal skin with a chick with a pink bob haircut and a nose ring. (Like that is tough?) I then peeked at the price people are paying for this bullshit and it is unreal!
Unfortunately, that shit makes a lot of money so what can you do?
My call of duty history: I am an early cod member.
It's not a club, you don't have a membership.
I remember playing the old realistic COD2, Cod 3, and then the great Call of Duty 4 Modern Warefare changed multiplayer forever. I played all the way from COD 4 all the way up to COD Modern Warefare 3. After realizing the game was equivalent to Madden football with just adding a new skin and changing a few guns every year. So I haven't played this franchise in over a decade:
Nah there's a lot more going on year to year than there is for Madden releases. You get a new campaign, sure it's pretty short generally, but good production values. Most of the games have pretty distinct multiplayer as well. It's probably fair to say World at War multi was a WW2 reskin of COD4 to a large extent.
I was never a great call of duty player but I was ok. My K/D was over 1 so I was not a hindrance.
Unless you played purely TDM that's debatable.
My experience yesterday: Now it's been over 10 years and I should of been getting worked.
Yeah you don't understand how the game works. There's an onboarding experience where you are in total scrub lobbies for a bit and then it's up to the Skill-based Matchmaking Gods.
I am playing on the pc with a controller so the mouse/kb crowd and the veterans should of just been destroying me.
Not really, gamepad is the meta because of the level of aim assist involved.
I played my first game and was top 3 in scoring and then k/d of a 1.5. SO I played another match and not as good but similiar results. Aftrer 2 matches, I was completly bored. After 10 years it's still the same bullshit, kill/respawn/camp/throw random grenade gameplay.
Yeah you're not remotely good at COD multi. You'd get shredded in a no-lifer lobby. If you don't find the gameplay engaging that's fine but please don't kid yourself.
I do not understand hoiw games like COD, Madden,NBA, etc sell great every year when they just recycle the same gamepay over and over and over again. In cases like Madden it is reviewed badly every year but people still flock to buy it. Cod has been the same shit for damn near 20 years and still making billions of dollars. Just bizarre that gamers cry about "innovation" but they are playing and buying the same shit, over and over and over.
Gaming is a reasonably mature medium... most of it is the same old shit with extra retard-proofing and improved graphics. If the implication is that single-player games have been more innovative over the same time period I'm not sure I'm buying it.

Fortnite was the worst thing to happen to gaming in decades, anything even slightly inspired by its success is trash to the core.

The best way to kill it all permanently: create a total ban on profiting off of minors in any form. Where under no circumstances can minors even be a source of revenue by advertising DLC for their parents to buy -- anything advertisement at any level in connection with a minor's account is illegal, so that any dev (rightly) risks legal annihilation for making anything at all to kids that isn't just an offline game purchased all at once. Burn the retardation factory to its core.

Did this dude just call for a blanket ban on minors buying multiplayer games?

People still hate COD in 2025?
There is a reason it tops the charts in an interactive medium, the gameplay is superb, and its loaded with content.

I tried to sample this game when there was a free trial. Wasn't confident it's worth the money, nothing better than a demo right? Click from bnet app, nothing happens, no black screen or even new exe running. After installing the entire game for a weekend trial. Only game I threw at my PC that didn't work, maybe it has to do with anticheat but I didn't care enough to fix it. Anyway thanks for the wear on my SSD guys that's my blops6 story.

Call of Duty is a yearly full-priced game-as-a-service release, where players are expected to pay full price annually instead of subscribing for ongoing updates and content.

Good thing there's a subscription option for it now so you don't have to pay full price for it annually.

Yes. Parents should be the only ones who buy anything for minors, and the only ones to whom any ads are allowed to be targeted. Even pushing skin/DLC ads to kids as an addictive scheme to get money of out of them should be flatly illegal.

Multiplayer? Fine if purchase is by a parent, and zero add-on monetizations (DLC, season passes) are present inside the game. If there needs to be a new "season", make it a full purchase from the platform's main game store with the stipulation that minor accounts should not even have permission to browse storefronts, and should not see ads in-game in any form.

wat. I played tons of mw 2019 and mw 2022 and I don’t think there’s even that much shit available to buy on the store. A few hundred dollars maybe but $4k?!
It was either cod or fortnite. I don't remember. He could have been mistaken. He did say he was grounded from games for months

Cod has SBMM now so you're going to face plebs in your first few games. Controllers also get aim assist so you're not at a disadvantage.

Same old shi just on a different day, oh my god when will it go away? I bought Black Ops 6 on PS5. Same stuff. Choose gun, choose left and right throw grenades. What attachments for gun. Same thing, no trophies, no achievements, MP anyway. Done with COD. Same old crack.

BLOPS 6 is alright. Didn't like the campaign, in fact stopped almost near the end. Didn't like it tried to be F.E.A.R. Zombies is fun, maps are interesting. MP scratches a very specific itch that I've yet to find in any other game. It has tons to unlock even without purchasing the battle passes, and will get a steady stream of content for a year based on previous years, so its got good value for a COD enjoyer. As for the goofiness of the store content, I don't think that will change anytime soon when there's always someone in the lobby with a dragon suit or a squid game outfit. The majority of the current demographic loves this crap.

COD is a good game IMO. All the micro-transactions are optional. All content is that affects gameplay is included. Is the store in your face absolutely. Do they want you to buy stuff most definitely. Does that have a negative effect on your experience? That is up to you.

Personally I usually get a couple of hundred hours or more a year out of campaign, multiplayer, zombies and warzone.

I play on my series x with a controller and I constantly get matched with GOOD keyboard and mouse users who completely destroy me. Didn’t have that problem in the previous COD for most matches. Matchmaking in this game is fucked, not skill based in any way.

Yeah it changed a lot. Funnily enough, I'm currently playing bops2 on the ps3 lol, it's damn fun minus couple of hacker here and there.

I know a kid who blew $4,000 on cod microtransactions with his moms credit card.

Rip money.
Doesn't seem possible, there's about 90 operator packs (it's actually quite a bit less since some of them were timed cross-overs) of varying price available in MWIII, so that's two years worth of bundles as it also includes MWII ones.
If we average to about 2000cp per bundle that's 180kcp total, or 1385 dollars if you buy the most expensive 100 dollar cp pack; if he just bought 20 dollars worth of cod points every time, that still would only be 1500 dollars.

Even if he also bought all gun bundles, it wouldn't reach 4k since there's only 40 bundles available, and they average at an even much lower amount of cp per bundle.
In other words, even if he bought literally everything in the store, for both MWII and MWIII, it would max out at ~2-2.2k
