Here is the review for it I have been giving to my friends:
Its the best Indiana Jones movie since the Last Crusade.

Whether you get it now on gamepass, buy it on steam, wait for PS5, or waiting for it to go on discount, play it. It is worth the play!
Just finished it and credits are rolling as I type this... wonderful experience. This game is a lot of fun. Would've liked a little more sneaking possibilities, but I love their restraint when it comes to gunplay. Being known for the Wolfenstein games I thought the game might play way more Wolfenstein-esque and I'm very happy that it doesn't, because it really does feel like an Indiana Jones adventure (as it should).
The game is full of little fun things and ideas, like the scorpion-desert scene. Just smart, funny things that make this game work so well.

So i just finished the game last night, here is my review from a non-Indiana Jones fan

Pros:
- really cool locales, the zoned areas were fun to explore, the puzzles were cool and not too complex where you get frustrated.
- The game looks really nice, graphically interesting, the outfit change system is really interesting and relatively fun until you find that one is better than the rest so kinda a pro and con. (hate having to switch to the indy outfit to solve a puzzle? why cant he do it in another outfit)
- the fist fighting implementation is great, the hits feel impactful and its great when you upgrade and become a beast 2-3 shotting people with a fist combo. Only gripe being that its very simple, i basically only use parry and counter and spam hits because it was the most effective way to win fights.

Cons:
- Story was extremely lackluster and silly but not silly enough as to where it was enjoyable, the goofy moments felt out of place and weren't funny enough to get a good laugh out of, this is likely due to the poor facial animations and reactions on the faces when they happened. This point is likely because im not an indiana jones fan so its hard for me to look past it.
- The gun combat is horrible, it feels shoehorned in and using a gun as well as a melee weapon...why do they fall out of your hands when you climb a ladder? or climb a ledge? really annoying implementation. Other than fist fighting the rest of the combat is very poor. Fists do more damage than guns? weird situation.
- Movement in the game is okay, i hate the swinging implementation in the game, essentially when you climb or swing the game goes into third person and then swaps back into first person in between swings or after you climb, the swinging from one bar to another was extremely jank and you have to press F to grab the next one but the camera would auto focus down (back in first person) when you want to look up and grab the next bar making you fall several times. Thankfully this was a very rare scenario in the game and only happened twice in my playthrough.
- Fast Travel is unnecessarily difficult, you should be able to fast travel to a point from your map rather than finding a sign post that lets you pick an area, this kinda stuff makes me think they want to extend gametime by you unnecessarily walking across the map.
- As mentioned before the outfit system is cool until you find the best ones and the rest are useless, its a cool idea that is poorly implemented.

For me its about a 7 or 7.5/10. Good game!

played and completed it 100% on game pass

great game, really had great time with it. however they need to fix bugs especially regarding revisiting the previous eras. I managed to dodge all the bugs thankfully but still had to look up for certain things (especially the gear achievement)

story was really captivating, I was interested for the whole thing. I didn't even watch any indiana jones movie before. this game showed me how inferior nathan or lara is compared to dr jones. a guy that actually that knows his stuff! and not having excessive combat sequences like uncharted and tomb raider games really REALLY made the game much MUCH more immersive. I never was able to get over how nathan and lara can mow down hordes of enemies. here, the hotel gina and indy gets attacked you have to run for your life! similar stuff for later on in the story.

world and level design top notch. exploration is just off the charts. never guessed FPS perspective would help so much with this type of game. wow! I enjoyed almost every bit of puzzles this game had to offer aside from the last one (where you use 50 relics. and getting those 50 relics was a huge hurdle by itself. but eventually I did it so that I get to explore and discover more so I didn't really mind).

and finally, damn the graphics. at times looked REALLY incredible. great graphics with great art direction = near perfection

and that ending??? wow. really great culmination and pay off. I really like how they tied everything together (that was building for hours) in a manner of minutes. just incredible!

giving it a decent 85/100. I hope they do more games!

(I will go watch movies at some point. Also amazing acting on emmerich voss. like what the hell? such an original and good character that I THOUGHT he was an actual iconic character from indiana jones movies. turns out he was made up for this game's story. that's how good the character was written and acted out... I'm sure he will be remembered as ICONIC regardless though)

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
I am 15 hours in and Giza just keeps going and going. lots of little puzzles everywhere. Some I'm stuck on. How to find keys and such. I don't see how anyone could 100 percent this. Amazing that you did.

It's pretty easy, just collectible stuff that you can mark on the map and older places with collectibles can be revisited any time. Nothing's really missable.

And you can get books that have all the relics, message/photo spots, and the like. The weird map system makes some of them hard to find but I don't think there is anything in the game you can't locate in-game.

I"m grabbing every bit of money I can find and I have nothing left to buy any of the books. I've found lots of them scattered aroudn the map but buying them costs way too much money.

I was lucky I had enough to buy the zippo lighter to see my way around the ruins.

Parody of actual AJUMP23
I am in the last section. It is a really good game.

I do want to talk about the nephilim for a second though because I have studied this a lot. First off the word is plural. Anytime you see “im” in Hebrew that is a plural. Cherub is cherubim, and seraphim, and so on. Even the word for God in Hebrew will show up as Elohim which and indication of the godhead.

Second the word doesn’t mean giant, I think Indy says that. The word most likely means “earth bound” but we get that from the Latin interpretation of nephilim to GIGAS. Then the English take gigas and transliterate it to giant. Are they giants yes, but is that what the word means, no.

There are lots of debate about the nephilim among Christian scholars. Some pastors I had never wanted to talk about it.

They seem to originate as a crossbreed between fallen angels and women. But again that is unclear because the language in Hebrew in genesis is not certain. It is translated “sons of god” and they came to the daughters of men. But it is uncertain because the word used is not the normal word for angel which is simply messenger.

That is enough for now.

Are you hitting the little locked chests that you find on desks? I missed those my first time through the Vatican, that place definitely was lower on easy cash than the later places.

its rather easy and game helps a lot (in game collectible maps). some ancient relics wont show on the big maps but instead they may show up in temple maps so you have to look out for that. any make sure to keep gears you've collected in a specific mission in the 3rd act of the game in your inventory. you will know when you see them. they're required to solve a specific puzzle and can be picked up after being done. some people forget it on the puzzle and they cannot go back and retrieve them. you need a total of 10 of them and 7 of them can be picked any time within the free roam area, but the last 3 specifically only spawns within that mission's time window and if you leave them there they're gone

also make sure to complete the gear related quest and gear related puzzles in the free roam once you're done with that main story quest. I heard that reloading a checkpoint can also cause those specific 3 gears to be missing.

I have a problem that happens only in this game. If I turn dlss on quality or any other option it says the res source is 720p if I put on dlaa it says the source is 1080p ansmd everything is a blurry mess but the resolution is set 4k. Only game I got that and I don't know how to solve.

Rally enjoying my time so far. Probably in the middle of the Vatican section. Love the puzzles.

The stealth is really hit and miss try to figure out what the game allows. I can “assassinate” with a loud ass shovel and not alert the guy he was walking with? It’s weird.

I can accept that kind of stealth “fail” in the spirit of the less super realistic action in Indiana Jones vs other movies. It would make the game a loooot harder, maybe unnecessarily so, otherwise.
The Vatican and all the virtual tourist feeling I get from it… well, I do agree it is one of the best areas :), but this is not to say the others are bad or anything, far from it.

I think de-facto, given how many hours I poured into it and how much I want to play it still, it would be my GOTY (then again still need to play Astro BOT :)).

That intro was indeed insane, from the start menu to that scene, they nailed it.

I liked it, but I think the museum’s lighting and materials soon after hit harder. Then again U was playing on XSX before they patched the jungle light leakage issue.

That part of the intro scene was super impressive though, loses a fair bit once you start playing though.

For me, I really like the Indiana Jones movies and lore/storytelling, this is well in the mid 90’s… actually in the Olympus of great games where they are good enough for comparisons between each other being a bit pointless :D.

I finished it the other day and without any backtracking I did not do too poorly (the app does not track partial progress, it says, for example, I have 0% progress in the Bring Radio Frequencies to Gina trophy but… mmmhhh… could have swore I brought a LOT of frequencies to her… either 100% or 0%).

Tried to take my time enjoying the story, locations (exploration is great), and repeating a few bits sometimes hehe.

Right I agree It doesn't pull me out so much as it has a pulp vibe to the action. So a loud punch to silence someone feels at home for the style of movie. Having a silent takedown animation would solve it. I assume they like the style of this and kept it.

I really like this and it looks amazing at times. But fuck me the frame rate cuts in half after most cut scenes forcing me to restart the game. I read you can solve it by switching from DLSS to TAA and back again but that also forces a restart. Really take me out of the experience.

Into the backlog it goes until they sort it, if ever.

have you tried reducing the hair quality option?

About the ending, I loved how you could keep punching Voss in the face, even when the boss fight was over. While hes just hanging there groaning. I must have punched him 15-20 times before climbing back up 🤣 highly gratitious but also so satisfying at that point

It's amusing but also sloppy and unpolished.

You can also backtrack later on and go back to prev beaten lvls. Alot of areas are also inaccessible unless you advance the story to opens up more money/medicine bottle oppoturnites.

Oh man! I can't tell you how far you are from the end because I haven't finished it..... but the part after the Himalayas... wow... one of the most fun segments I've ever seen in any game!

Whats that supposed to mean? I like black and white movies(but I prefer remastered versions) and I like books. Indy isn't an art form, he is just an outdated character.
He was always an outdated character that is part of the fun. He is a throwback to 1930/40 serials and shows like Flash Gordon.

I think we're close to the end I'm a lvl after that and I think there might be only 1 more lvl left or this one might be the last. Hopefully I'm wrong though I don't want this game to end lol. Have they announced any dlc?

I absolutely love almost every part of this game but there is one aspect that I hate and makes me pause from playing it for days at a time. The awful "boss" encounters. Fighting is not good in this game at all and it makes the boss encounters just a fucking chore.

The Snek?

The bosses in the game are pretty set-piecy tho.

It’s the game with which I am getting more CTDs ever in PC. And the bug with Sanctuary of the Guardians is unbelievable for 2024/5. Other than than, not a bad game.

Im really enjoying the game, but I am now on my 2nd reinstall of the game on Steam. Went to play last night and after the Bethesda/Machine Games screens.....nothing. Just a black screen. I reinstalled last night, but have yet to see if that fixes it. I also had to reinstall the game after I changed a DLSS setting. No matter what I did, the game ran at 15fps. Reinstall the game, and it was fine, until last night.

I have a problem with this game on PC. Even with resolution set at 3840x2160. If I turn dlss on, Quality mode the dlss source is 720p and even with dlaa the dlss source is 1080p.

It gets really blurry. I don't have this problem on any other game.

Finished after some 45+ hrs.

Liked the ending. Story doesn’t have any needless twists or emotional moments. Sick of those in game stories that try too hard.

Straight forward Indiana Jones story, much appreciated.

Voss is a great villain, memorable scenes whenever he is on the screen.

Final verdict and score am gonna wait on that. Gonna digest everything, don’t wanna underrate or overrate it. Great game for sure. Especially exploration aspect.

Nah, I hated all the water and the stupid boat.
I spent some 20+ hrs there.

I think the layout offered a lot of freedom to explore and stumble on cool quests and old temples and architecture.

I played it like Skyrim lite. I think its designed to be played like that instead of Uncharted style story adventure.
