Lol. The mods had to add PS5 to the title.
There were two threads discussing the same game / topic that were merged together. The other (later) thread title included the PS5 information.
Sometimes when we merge threads together, we'll either choose to keep the title that has the most relevant information or edit the title to add the most up-to-date information.
Gaming "journalism" in a nutshell:
Don’t give a fuck on which system this game appears. I just want to play it.
Hey, at least XBOX has a ROADMAP... lolEvery Xbox ball licker journalist is basically on copium mode
Hmm...
It was originally multi-plat, then MicroSoft bought Bethesda and then renegotiated to make it "exclusive" to Xbox and PC.
The terms of Disney’s agreement with Bethesda were renegotiated after Microsoft acquired the studio’s parent company, ZeniMax Media, for $7.5 billion in 2021.
Disney’s head of gaming, Sean Shoptaw, told Axios: With “Xbox still being one of the bigger marketplaces for games, we didn’t feel like we were going to be overly exclusionary. We felt like it’s still going to reach a broad set of folks, and we felt, financially and strategically for the game, that made sense at the time.”
Imagine the game launches at a sorry state in December and then get patched in the first half of 2025.
I do agree that PS5 announcement timing was strange
I think if they wanted to maximize sells then go day one on PS5 or wait a month after release to announce the PS5 version.Maybe it's to increase conversation and hype around the game. Excluding an existing user base did not help in, for example, Starfield's case. It came out and was basically ignored by much of the PS and Nintendo user base. With this announcement, perhaps they hope to build excitement for the game - the addition of PS players increases the potential of that happening which, in turn, could lead to more sales overall.

Timing just felt odd here is our big Xbox game and the one more thing is it’s only a 5 months or so timed exclusive?
The delay does allow Sony ponies to get away scott-free if the game is a dud. And the delay isn’t long enough for people to get an Xbox even if they really really want to play it (dozens.gif).Just release it on all platforms. No one is buying an Xbox due to a 6 month or whatever exclusive period.
First three yes, they were good. Everything else was terrible.Indiana jones movie are still good, it being exclusive to Xbox was unexpected to begin with.
Don't worry Ponybros, I will give you an accurate analysis of the Sonyness this game has before it blesses our Sacred Systems when I SeX it.
Somebody could explain to me why they HAD TO announce that Indiana Jones is coming to PS5 at THIS EVENT?
It just is like a kick in the balls like at least wait a bit to announce that no? It really seems like xbox owners are a second thought now, and I don’t think Phil liked the direction either but here we areI can’t tell if you’re asking this or this is pasted from somewhere else but who really cares where it was announced. Personally I am glad it was announced so we don’t have to rely on rumors and shit from “insiders”.
I think if you are an Xbox diehard I wouldn’t get worried until you see a Forza, Fable, Gears or Halo rumored to be coming to PS5. Unless it’s a version of one of those games that came out years ago.
Not my type of game, but I imagine the dualsense support is well worth the ~3 month wait.
When I talk about exclusivity I mean console exclusives. And you are right Halo and their other properties did fall off. But they could be potentially making a comback with Fable and the new Gears going back its roots. Will that get me to buy a Xbox? Probably not(looking at building a PC myself) but it will absolutely matter to some people. Especially playing them on game pass when you can get games like Cod for “free”As an Xbox diehard, the console hasn’t had exclusives for years so this doesn’t matter to me. I’ll also not care if the “holy trinity” games go over. One, those franchises are way past their prime, and two, same logic applies as any other exclusive.
I’ll care if they announce no more Xbox hardware is ever coming and if I want to play inXile or Bethesda or Obsidian or Playground games on console, I’ll have to use my PS5 and use its UI and network and controller. That will suck.
Dang I forgot about Doom. Odd that it’s day and date and not a few months later like Indy ? What is the strategy here?Bethesda Games studios is gradually shifting over to releasing on PS5, DOOM is the first day and date one. I suspect everything is day and date after Indy.
Starfield will probably coincide with the next big expansion after the one releasing soon.

I think it's just a matter of timing.
The shift to PS5 development at MS happened earlier this year. The team at Machine Games is working hard to just get it out on Xbox and don't really have the time to get it on PS5 yet because they weren't up to speed on it earlier in the dev cycle.
Again, the strategy with Doom onward is basically releasing on PS5 day and date. This will happen with Blade, it will also happen with the next Elder Scrolls and Fallout.
I think so too. But to me it’s odd that they wouldn’t at least try the 6 month tactic. Squeeze a few extra Xbox sales here or there. Sales must be so dismal they don’t want to piss off us playstation users
Does anyone else kind of feel like it is pitiful at this point, why does Xbox just keep limping along on life support? Just go ahead and go full third party and stop this tongue-in-cheek nonsense of announcing games sporadically to avoid backlash. Everyone seems to realize the Xbox brand is dead at this point, why keep up the charade? Microsoft killed it with its own buffoonery, so why continue to pretend why that is not the case?
Idiotic. Release it simultaneously or don't release it at all..
That is a good point. I am still not sure if I can believe the next Fable or Gears is coming to PlayStation anytime soon. But.Microsoft doesn't care about getting more Xbox sales. They don't make money on them anyways and it's sort of a no-win proposition.
They care about having games that make an impact and are relevant to a wide audience, which they cannot do by leaving out PS5
I don't think so.I don't think its strategically bad, depending on where the focus now is. They suddenly make the game a much bigger headline due to the PS5 announcement. And in doing so creates an awful lot of excitement/interest. At the expense of their own console fan base, sure. But they suddenly get all of the PS customers interested in it. The series consoles clearly aren't the main priority anymore.
Right now being Xbox Exclusive is a bad omen so announcing that it's coming to PS5 before it crash & burn is the smartest move.I think if they wanted to maximize sells then go day one on PS5 or wait a month after release to announce the PS5 version.

I still don’t believe this is a big deal as people are making it. When I saw Xbox buy Bethesda I said on the record these games would be multiple platform.
