Is PS2 the only console to ever launch without ANY first-party release?

Friendly relationship with studios.

They're all second party studios who were in contracts with the platform holder to develop games exclusively for that platform.
Not always, Insomniac and From Software are major examples of that.
I don't get the idea that Sony's internal output on PS3 was leagues above PS2 in terms of quantity, I mean, Ape Escape 2-3, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Siren 1-2, God of War 1-2, Jak and Daxter 1-3 plus X, Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain, The Mark of Kri, Primal, Ghosthunter, The Getaway 1-2, Wipeout Fusion and Gran Turismo 3-4 don't count?

So, what's your point of this thread?
Whether a game is "labeled" SCEE/SCEA/SCEI or not does not change the fact that an agreement has been made with a publisher/developer to release games on PS2. Ridge Racer & Tekken Tag Tournament is a perfect example.
You know, the fact that I made it clear that it was about the original Japanese launch directly headed by SCEI makes this discussion entirely pointless.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.

Never said it was leagues above, I said they improved during the PS2/PS3 era.
At launch they didn't have much, especially with PS3 because they had to due the lost of once exclusive games.

That's what Sony did to enter (buy) the industry, pay the media for hype and the actual devs and pubs for game exclusivity with their warchest from electronics and other stuff. Or do you think PS1 became a success because of "Crime Crackers" (in Japan, maybe 0 first party in the West) or something?
Isn't that what every company that entired the console space did?
