Brave, Edge, and Chrome are all forks of Chromium, so they are all very similar. Some people don't use Chrome or Edge because they don't trust Google or Microsoft with their data.

This is only an issue / valid in the US.
There is already a complaint about this in the EU:

Firefox tracks you with “privacy preserving” feature

noyb filed a complaint against Mozilla for quietly enabling a supposed “privacy feature” (called Privacy Preserving Attribution) in its Firefox browser which tracks user behaviour on websites.

So if Mozilla tries to do this in the EU it would be a clear GDPR violation with a hefty fine.

Ill stick with Firefox, but if Mozilla fucks up too much, there is always alternatives like Waterfox:

Brave's adblocking is built into the browser, so it won't be affected by the switch to manifest V3.

Interesting. When I switched to Firefox, I read that wasn't the case for Brave. Looks like they are Manifest agnostic which is nice. Guess I'll switch back.

I’ve been on Firefox for years but I just moved over to LibreWolf yesterday. Feels more cleaner and privacy focused. The only downside is that it breaks a lot of websites because of the enhanced anti fingerprinting. When I say breaks…I mean so far it seems to force light mode on websites which I hate so I installed darkreader. All good now and it’s a compromise I’m happy to make.

Unfortunately it seems like Mozilla is trying to speedrun the death of Firefox. That isn’t good and a world with chromium only browsers will suck and let Google have complete control over the internet. I’ll stick to LibreWolf as long as possible.

I really don’t want to use Chrome or Edge. If it comes to it then Brave seems like the next best option even if it is still chromium based. On Mac/iOS I use Safari which obviously isn’t Chromium but I can’t use it on PC.

Needs better wording. Mozilla company in general has poor leadership and if I cared about what they say and do I'd drop FF years ago. With that said Firefox is still the best non-Chromium browser out there and still the best choice if you want to control privacy and adblocking (not accounting for very niche browsers which may not work with some sites).

Sure, it is just another Chromium browser, but it does have some nice and unique features, especially regarding tags. Good ad-blocking control too if that's you're thing (of course not this site).

It's made by some of the original people behind the Opera browser before that died and go reborn as a Chinese Chromium browser and lost almost all of what made it special.

Are you kidding me? All of the news articles I read (especially anything about gaming) are SO padded with paragraphs of absolutely nothing, in a desperate attempt to keep the user on the page for longer and to see more ads.

What’s worse is how bad clickbait titles have gotten. Here’s one at the top of my feed right now:

Most articles like this won’t even tell you the name of the game until 3 or 4 paragraphs in. So yeah, AI summaries are great in combatting shitty, padded journalism.

I smell bullshit. The language used in the privacy policy isn't good at all and similar applications don't need that sort of TOS.

I kinda hate myself for moving to Chromium but downloaded Brave and wow. It's so much faster!

The built in adblocker seems to be good too.

It's a bit bloated with all the AI, crypto shit etc but I disabled it all.

Fuck it. I think I'll just stick with it.

I tried a bunch of alternatives to Firefox years back when Mozilla forced stupid Proton on everyone but they were all still somehow worse.

The solution is incredibly simple. Just install Waterfox or LibreWolf, which are versions that strip out all the Mozilla stuff. Alternatively, use BetterFox: https://github.com/yokoffing/BetterFox

Bonus: Waterfox includes a version of BetterFox by default.
