Now, a statement from Kadokawa reads, “There are some articles on the acquisition of Kadokawa Corporation (hereinafter “the Company”) by Sony Group Inc,

“However, this information is not announced by the Company. The Company has received an initial letter of intent to acquire the Company’s shares, but no decision has been made at this time. If there are any facts that should be announced in the future, we will make an announcement in a timely and appropriate manner.”

Huh...

Well it doesn't seem to be a done deal with pre-agreed prices or anything according to that memo.

The Reuters leak may serve to impede the action in that case - presumably Kadokawa shares are about to explode more than they already have.

But also, this letter doesn't imply an acquisition as such - just Sony's intent to increase their share ownership. So overall, it probably doesn't make difference to any strategic decisions around content.

So the next From game will be a GAAS featuring transsexual dragons then?

Elden Ring already features transexual characters and references as well as other woke crap so that won't change a thing. As long as the game is good, I dont care if a big giant tiddie monster has a penis.

Wait, who’s transexual in Elden Ring? Don’t say Miquella. He’s a boy.

Gwyndolyn in Dark Souls was technically transexual though.

Ignoring the fact that this is for Kadokawa as a whole, I think Sony has needed more than two Japanese studios for two decades at this point, so I can't complain in that regard. Sorry it had to be From Software, though.
I think I would like Acquire better, lol.

They will ruin From Software. Sorry for the doom and gloom but it will happen.
Some of From's finest works came through their partnerships with Sony, so your doom and gloom has no basis to it at all.

In fact, the more likely outcome is that their games are going to be objectively better by having access to the support infrastructure and production values of all other first-party PlayStation games.

Can you elaborate on this, please?

I keep reading it but I am not sure what the concerns are?

During the PS4 era, Sony started heavily censoring anime games compared to other games coming out. Japanese twitter at the time was pissed.

Now of course, people are worried that if they get everything Kadokawa has, the censorship will continue to spread even to the Anime/Manga that KadoKawa has.

Speaking of Acquire, I do wonder what the plan is for them if the acquisition goes through. They’re the developers behind the recent Mario & Luigi Brothership, and they also handle the Octopath Traveler series for Square.

Will they keep them and continue doing contract work for Nintendo, Square, and other publishers, put them on different projects, or sell them to Nintendo or Square?

Changing some lines of code is so complex for multi billion dollar corporation...
The Bloodborne situation never was about them being unable to update the SDK and make it 60fps on PS5 through backwards compatibility, but actually extracting financial value out of them bringing back Bloodborne.

A simple update would net them no financial benefit whatsoever, so the more likely answer is that they have grander plans for it - either an ambitious remaster along the lines of the recently released Zero Dawn or a complete visual remake ala Demon's Souls - and that such project has been lined up to fill a very specific void in their future schedule... which we don't know if might be six months, a year, two years or four years from now. I'd say it all depends on the release strategy around the alleged Bloodborne movie adaptation.

That was before sony fully embraced wokeness. Current Sony is an incompetent company.
