I really hope Team Ninja's next game will be a blockbuster hit, put it day one on all platforms, no subscription deals.

The studio making the best combats deserves more recognition.

hopefully we'll finally get a dynasty warriors that's fully fleshed out. An actual Good open world with better character progression, competent story with competent cutscenes, and more strategic emphasis on gameplay while still retaining the mowing down hordes of enemies. Probs adding more sub boss enemy types and also including a fight pit system where weak enemies form a ring around you while you deal with stronger enemies that take more than 2 hits to stagger... etc... emphasis on etc.

1st game is surely a Rise of the Ronin sequel
2nd one...i REALLY hope it's a new Ninja Gaiden but, who am i kidding, it's probably gonna be loot-shit-tastic Nioh 3 since everyone and their grandma's just can't do without their Soulslike flavored game of the month...

PS : Fuck Nioh

So probably not that new dynasty warriors game, since they tend to be around a million sellers, with some outliers here and there like DW8 selling 2m+, one piece warriors 4 did 3m+ though.
Actually don't think they have anything that's ever sold 5+, even the nintendo exclusive stuck at 4+; wonder what they've got cooking.

Nioh probably did. I think the 5 mil is more like their expectation, as they described Rise of the Ronin the same before announcing it.

- Heavy emphasis on shitty OCD inducing loot - it's almost Diablo level at times

- Stilted, X-axis movement where your character is "planted"/glued to the X-axis, the lack of a jump button really emphasises this, to explain it better, it's like comparing the movement/feel of Street Fighter Vs Tekken : the latter feels like the character have their feet cemented to the ground for a lack of a better explanation.
In the end, it's more of a soulslike than something like Ninja Gaiden (i always found the comparisons to NG super weird)

- Covoluted gameplay systems : they're complicated just for the sake of being complicated or shall i say, just for the sake of "hey, our title it's totally not a copy-paste soulslike gaiz ! "
The active reload...eeeerm..."ki pulse" has got to be one the most needless, shitty, copy-pasted mechanics.
- Absolutely terrible level design (and shortcuts)

- Mediocre graphics and art-direction

- Nioh 2 has even more needlessly convoluted systems because...why not

More importantly, they don't feel fun to me since everything feels like a grind, there's no atmosphere, no interesting characters, no real story, no real drive behind it besides the "hur durr, here's your masocore vidya where you get to enjoy L33T builds for you to post online and feel good about it" - they're more like an arcade game where you gotta finish the mazochistic levels and bosses "just 'cause", there's no mystery behind them, no environmental storytelling , nothing, they're as "dry" as they come always compared to FROM's games which while they're difficult, they're heavy on "soul" and atmosphere.

And before anyone says "it's a skill issue", i do enjoy masochisitc games/difficulties even at the tender age of 45, shit, i completed NG2 on MN difficulty barely 2 years ago for the first time.

The real problem though - at least for me - is that i find the heavy emphasis on action and bullshit dungeon crawler level of OCD inducing loot to not gel well at all, couple that with all of the above and...

One of the reasons we still haven't got a new Ninja Gaiden is because shit like this sells well, and to be frank, both Nioh games are as mediocre as they come, i really do believe that the only reason they sold well is because everyone loves the souls formula AND the fact that people don't seem to get bored by shiny loot and XP bars/lvl-ing up.

Cheers

Koei Tecmo haven't been doing too great recently. A few years ago they seem destined to dominate the Japanese gaming scene but their output and quality dropped. Hopefully this will bring them back because they are still one of the few Japanese pubs out there putting a lot into old-school style games.

It wish it was Dead or Alive or Ninja Gaiden because those are dormant franchises that deserve another chance, but who am I kidding with? Those games will probably be something similar to Nioh or even Dynasty Warriors I’m guessing and yes, I actually like Nioh and Dynasty Warriors.

New Fatal Frame, or at the very least, gives us a remaster of Wii's FF2 for the hell of it.

New Ronin style game but with levels.

Honestly my one big problem with their games. Equipment is so readily dished out and I can't be bothered sifting through pages and pages of crap to use, sell or discard all the time.

Cheers.

I see some stuff I definitely agree with. I can see why you are saying it has no mystery or 'drive' behind it. But I don't think they wanted to create that type of game.

For me the combat is exceptional. Especially once you unlock certain combinations and use the correct gear. And the ki-pulse mechanic allows a certain flow during combat. I really like it.

There is no From Software game that can beat it in terms of combat (ok, maybe Sekiro).

I don't think ki-pulse is useless. It's actually essential for dispelling of Yokai Realms.

I also don't think they were trying to copy From, it's very much it's own thing unlike (for example) Lies of P.

The looting aspect of the game can be a tedious but luckily they have filters for that. Plus, the tempering etc. makes creating a build pretty easy. And I like creating builds and testing stuff out.

The co-op/multiplayer is stellar too. Easy drop-in with friends and strangers.

But the rest? Story, music, level/enemy-design etc. are serviceable at best. But I don't think people play Nioh for those things.

Oh, and some of the level shortcuts are laughable too.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Fatal Frame x Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball will probably make millions

Owned by Nintendo (in the same way Sony owns Rise of the Ronin), but I'm pretty sure that they've been negotiating it considering that we already got Project Zero 4 and 5.

I'm hoping the 2 AAA games are nioh 3 and nioh 4

Still crazy to me that Rise of the Ronin managed its sales performance. Particularly because this spells the end of Nioh :(

Koei Tecmo is a company that could erupt with the right game, in the same way FromSoftware did.

As much as I love Nioh, I think Ronin's parry mechanic is more engaging.

A new IP merging Nioh's Yokai setting and Ronin's combat system would be dope.

All the things you hate about nioh is what I love about it. We'll at least the first game. I didn't really dig into the 2nd. The first game did have compelling characters and a story, the 2nd was create a character and was more open that way. It also oozes atmosphere so don't know what your on about there.

I'M REALLY HAPPY FOR YOU AND I'M A LET YOU FINISH BUT FATAL FRAME NEEDS A NEW GAME. A NEW GAME!!!

I gonna start supporting more of their games tbh.
Reamke/Remaster of old games. Only Nintendo funds those games development anymore and videogames have gotten too expensive to be funding a game like that anymore. Also, a new FF won't sell 5 million. It's dead Jim.

Not sure what KT can be cooking that'll net those sales, but we'll see. I'm guessing it'll have to be multiplatform with PC and Switch 2 though.
