For me life is just an opportunity to experience "existence". Space, time and matter. There's no point to all this nor any logic, yet it's there. So we are more like witnesses. Would be even more futile than it already is if there was nobody alive with enough intelligence to see that things actually exist and process the fact.
I actually hate living, i'm old, broke, lazy, single, ugly and depressed most of the time. But i also hate the idea of non-existence now that i already experienced it (death), plus i'm curious to see how things will progress with humanity and i'm sad that i can only be a part of a few decades of history myself. I feel lucky when i think of the people who lived in the middle ages where nothing changed for 1000 years and it was just a boring existence of hardships. But i'm also feeling unlucky because i will never experience what humanity will be in 500 years from now. Imagine living in a reality where your vacation destination plans would include Mars or any of the Saturn's satellites.
Edit: Watch the movie "The man from earth".
