Life Is Strange: Double Exposure Sales Were A "Large Loss" For Square Enix, Sequel Unlikely

Yes?

I mean, I'm not an anti-woke zealot that automatically thinks "woke=bad", but it's undeniable that Life is Strange from the start has been a series about pushing liberal progressive ideas and themes. But the original is actually a pretty good game and came out at a time when that didn't turn a lot of people off. Even if this newest Life is Strange isn't annoying forced woke, there's enough similar type of games on the market that are that it just blends in with those and people avoid it -- even more so if the game isn't even that good.
The first one only had a lesbian romance if you played it that way though. You could have pursued a romance with Warren instead.

With Bloom and Rage flopping, too, things are not looking good for this franchise.

I enjoyed the first LiS, but that was 10 years ago. It felt fresh at the time, but after BtS, I had enough.
I bet Dontnod is interested in getting acquired by Microsoft (or some other big entity) as their games could work on Game Pass. Otherwise they're looking at closing shop, can't sustain a studio with a series of flops. I think Vampyr was their last financial success?

I loved the first game, it really came out of nowhere for me. It’s not at all the type of game I’d usually even like. But none of the sequels were as good, and going back to replay the first game obviously doesn’t hit as hard.

It really is a one-and-done kind of game. I wish instead of publishers investing in the IP and trying to milk sequels, they’d invest in the creative team and individuals behind the game and see if they have any other great ideas.

But, alas, that’s basically the polar opposite of Square’s MO at this point. It’s a soulless company and has been for a while.

I've just saw a video about the drama behind this game.

I my self liked the first Life is Strange, but in the current climate I can't bring my self to give the rest of the games a chance, whether it's the absence of a rewind future, being sick of the woke stuff, or the game being overall very girly.

Honestly, I never understood how the fuck they milked the series this much. The original game was obviously an one and done type.
It also sold 20 million copies, so I get why they're trying to recapture that. Even at half that it's a pretty big haul. However, this is another case of developers not knowing why they struck gold in the first place. Like DICE claiming they have no idea why Bad Company 2 was so beloved.

The first one was incredibly mid. It was a weaker butterfly effect plus high school girl drama... Hella :#

Always thought it a bit odd it had a following back in the day.

Yup, the drama, the characters, the story it self were incredibly boring and generic, and the "twist" was terrible.
