UR or grixis delver would have been my guess.
1 thought scour and you're like a 3rd of the way there.

So we're already speculating about Kaladesh on the same page the full spoiler went up. LOL
I never understood why scarecrows don't have reach. They're supposed to scare away flying creatures.
It's a set providing interesting tools, but not really pushing in interesting directions like SoI did- Investigate was completely new.Eldritch Moon just isn't very exciting. Some cool cards and nice art but they really didn't push the envelope much outside of the established Standard archetypes. I'm sure I'll have fun drafting it a few times but most of my interest in the set has long since gone flat.
Scare, not damage. Better if they couldn't be blocked by creatures with flying.
How about "creatures with flying can't attack you"?
(Obviously a much stronger mechanic, wouldn't go on more than one card).

I want to break this in Modern. It's like a Treasure Cruise with a relevant body. Maybe with rituals?
Id love to see Equipment Matters as a block theme. Maybe equipments that check for eachother or become creatures.
I'm scared that this is the case outside of lands. So, are WotC just done with relevant reprints in Standard sets?

I also have a feeling Thoughtseize/Mutavault ruined it for everyone.

Neither of them were that bad. I didn't even have a problem with RTR/Theros standard.

I'm fine with them leaving higher power cards in supplemental sets ONLY if the power scale is raised in standard sets, but since the have been unwilling to do that because REASONS, enjoy your once a year set to get an Aether Vial or Tarmogyf.
Uh. Mono Blue/Black devotion were a huge problem.Neither of them were that bad. I didn't even have a problem with RTR/Theros standard.

Yeah, once the format was solved mono-black devotion was dangerously close to being too good. Thoughtseize was what pushed that deck over the top. And to think, they were originally going to reprint LotV within the same Standard.Uh. Mono Blue/Black devotion were a huge problem.
Why not just throw in some designed hate if they want to reset the power level? AKA, BFZ following the super strong KTK (where the only BFZ cards people used were lands). It's difficult to have every set be considered powerful overall without speeding up power creep greatly. I don't think you actually want every set to have a big effect Modern or whatever.
Importance of two colors (Kaladesh speculated to be enemy color set)
I would be surprised if Kaladesh is as artifact themed as you guys are imagining to begin with. The last few times they went all-in on artifacts it was pretty busted. I'm expecting a U/R artifact theme much like in Origins, but I would be surprised if it was as extensive as Mirrodin or something.
* Contraptions, for the same reason as above, and generally MaRo's excitement.

Goblin GuideRather than argue the point directly again, I want to take this in a different direction: what are some "good" cards that would actually be good, worthwhile reprints in Standard? They have to be good enough that people are happy to see them, but significantly below the level of annoyance that went along with both Thoughtseize and Mutavault reprints. If I had to think of a recent example, I'd say probably Urborg TOY in M15?
Like, basically, rather than evaluate this in a vacuum, I want to think about specific card options. Liliana was clearly not suitable in the environment they tried her in. Cavern of Souls would be miserable one way or another in an environment where tribal green/white is oppressive and blue is bad. What are some other candidates?
Serum Visions is the first one that jumps to mind. I think it'd be pretty benign in most standard environments (I don't know how much I like it right now, since CoCo is still around, but if it were in Kaladesh, that wouldn't be a problem).Rather than argue the point directly again, I want to take this in a different direction: what are some "good" cards that would actually be good, worthwhile reprints in Standard? People always say this, and I know "serum" has a specific meaning on Mirrodin, but is the idea of a magical serum really that rare? I swear to god I've heard it in other non-Magic contextsSerum visions is plane specific so it'd have to be a functional reprint, which impacts modern
I never understood this argument. It's a serum that gives visions. It's literally the same as Thoughtseize.Serum visions is plane specific so it'd have to be a functional reprint, which impacts modern

There could be Serum on Kaladesh.
It was drug use in the first place.Always thought Serum Visions would've fit Theros pretty well, given oracles needing to take something to get visions. Or would that count as drug use.
I'm not sure we have the same understanding of serum, it's not just a word for concoction. Thoughtseize is a made up word composition.
It is and it isn't. Serum originally refers to a specific thing on Mirrodin, sure. But it's a generic enough name that it can be reflavored without needing a new card.Serum visions is plane specific so it'd have to be a functional reprint, which impacts modern
Serum is an actual English word. It's not made up. Thought and Seize are also English words. The creative team likes to combine different words to name cards. Mirrodin isn't some high horse.I'm not sure we have the same understanding of serum, it's not just a word for concoction. Thoughtseize is a made up word composition.
The creative team would have to establish that though
