YSO predictions
Week 29, 2015 (Jul 13 - Jul 19)
[WIU] Yoshi's Woolly World < 40k
[3DS] Fire Emblem Fates < 30k
[PS4] Batman: Arkham Knight < 30k
[WIU] Splatoon < 30k
It's a pity seeing yoshi's predictions. I'm having great fun with the game and it's undoubtedly a better game than the last two handheld titles.
YSO is predicting 150k+40k, which is less than Investigation debut week. I don't see The Great Ace Attorney hitting 300k.It's a pity seeing yoshi's predictions. I'm having great fun with the game and it's undoubtedly a better game than the last two handheld titles.
The new Phoenix Wright game will do better than the investigation games. And it should sell another big chunk with the best release (as all the PW games do in Japan).
Compared to past titles it would be big improvement.Interesting, Yoshi is opening higher than Batman (neither being particularly good)... and Splatoon's legs might be longer than Batman's opening week? Isn't that a rather week opening (it comes out on the 16th right?) after the stronger western pick-up we've been seeing recently?
Looks like FE is holding out pretty well against the usual RPG collapse.
Yoshi may have good legs into the holidays, but otherwise it's a multifaceted issue: WiiU is saturated with platformers, WiiU is caustic to its own software's potential.

22./00. [PS3] Batman: Arkham Begins # <ADV> (Warner Entertainment Japan) {2013.12.05} (¥7.980) - 11.537 / NEW <60-80%>
[PS3] Batman: Arkham City # <ADV> (Warner Entertainment Japan) {2011.11.23} (¥7.980) - 12.200
Batman Arkham Asylym - 2.8k
Of course still 30k is not exactly big opening. Japan doesn't seem to care about Batman games.
Of course, it's only after the initial circlejerk wears off that discussion actually takes place in sales threads, NPD is the most extreme example of this.

So Arkham Knight is looking at big uptick from Arkham City, Warner Japan must be happy. It will be interesting to see if it has any legs though.

I doubt that. They were hoping for a 150k LTD and are getting ad support from Sony.

NDS : Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth ( Capcom ) { 2009-05-28 } - 201,817 / 310,028
It seems that all the Wii U 2D platformers (not called Mario) end in the 100-150.000 range (Luigi, Kirby, Donkey Kong and now Yoshi). I don't think the saturation is an excuse, just that Wii U is bad for all the software released on it and not called Splatoon ;D
Anyway, Yoshi is a wonderful game. Not DK:TF GOTY material but much better than Kirby's disappointment.
Precedent of western games in general would say: no.
Of course this is post-Splatoon so who the fuck knows.

Witcher 3 had great legs and is on it's way to 150k LTD. YSO predicted < 50k opening.
Not saying Batman will perform as well, but I don't think at least 100k LTD is impossible just because YSO predicts a 30k opening.
383. [3DS] Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies <ADV> (Capcom) {2013.07.25} (¥5.990) - 12.150 / 369.816 (250.216 <67,56%>)What were AA5 numbers?

It will end up > 300.000 LTD If it doesn't then it will sell more combined with the Best release than Investigations with its Best release.

Yokai Busters will do gangbusters. It really is a whole new game in-spite of using the same engine yet again. Extremely fun and I expect word of mouth to be high. Jibanyan is back bitches!
Tsutaya's report
Taiko no Tatsujin V also sold great. The last one probably due to the new young users that Minecraft is attracting on Vita.
Should have called it: Splatoon's Wooly World Starring Yoshi from the Popular Yoshi's Island Series.
Microsoft has opened vita to a new audience
Tsutaya's report
- As it was expected Yo-kai Watch Busters was the best seller this week. It sold the half of units of a main entry. And as pre-orders showed, White Dog Squad version sold better, even faced stock problems.
- The Great Ace Attorney and Taiko no Tatsujin V also sold great. The last one probably due to the new young users that Minecraft is attracting on Vita.
- For next week Yo-kai Watch Busters will keep the first place. Batman is expected to do well.

The usual blog is pointing that there's a big difference
White Dog Squad >>> Red Cat Team
That should be tried with promoting other games, too. I'd like to see Suda51's "Let it Dye"
Oh yeah, why is the distribution so lopsided for this? The usual blog is pointing that there's a big difference

They stopped really aiming at kids with Reigitize and just abandoned them altogether with Cyber Sleuth (few kids would be able to read it). Don't expect New Order to be aimed at kids either.Good to see folks slowly capitalizing on that new kids' audience on Vita thanks to Minecraft. I guess we now have Taiko, Minecraft, DQBuilders later this year, and perhaps Digimon for kids on Vita?
Red's exclusives are horrible compared to Blue's.Oh yeah, why is the distribution so lopsided for this?

Since there are various members here that are intimate with Japan. How it's the atmosphere around there with the latest sad and unfortunate news? If not much about the general community at the least how is the gaming community reacting to it?
Again, sorry for the slight OT but i had this curiosity in my mind.
So as a follow-up on previous conversations, Digimon World: Next Order was announced for Vita in Jump and unspecified Digimon smartphone games were also referenced: http://gematsu.com/2015/07/digimon-world-next-order-announced-ps-vita
While the visual quality of the game looks like Digimon: Cyber Sleuth - and I expect it's on the same technology base - it looks targeted a bit more younger/all audiences than Digimon: Boob Quest.
While the protagonist is nominally a high school senior, he looks more like a 14-16 year old going on an adventure with his digipals and I don't see anything racy present and nothing dark in a non-cartoony way as well.
This is the kind of thing I think Nintendo could have as a multiplatform game on NX pretty easily if the platform is technologically capable. It would be a logical fit for even the stereotypical demographics of a Nintendo platform, but their current asset and technology base is not for 3DS.
Yokai Watch 3 will do less than Shin Uchi, just watch.
It's happening.
I'd be a bit surprised at that Summer rumor.
It's not impossible to launch a system with an unveil in early 2016 followed by a launch in mid-2016, certainly consumer electronics devices are even much shorter than that, but it would be a seismic change for Nintendo's reveal -> release schedule.
In the normal situation they'd already be going from a 1.5+ year lead-time to an ~8-10 month one. This would be like 6 months at most, and more likely 3-4.
It also crunches the advertising cycle for games a lot, but I guess that doesn't matter since I kind of expect them to be multiplats from third parties anyway (and some could have even already been announced in that case).
That said, my initial impression would be that July would be the start of the process described in that article (final specifications set and orders made preparing for a launch around November).
Getting out earlier certainly wouldn't hurt them however. It's already pretty painful abroad and sales aren't exactly through the roof domestically.
