Ah ok, that i dont know about.I thought there was a new X360 bundle coming out, may have confused that with something else.
Still, that's quite late for a game that was released last year.
Keep in mind that this is an updated version, not a brand new game. Those versions usually sell noticeably less compared to the first version.Hmm... doesn't look like the PSP audience switched over to PSV.
absolutely incredible bump forxb1
It's still an expansion release.Hmm... doesn't look like the PSP audience switched over to PSV.

Is there any reason why you think it would sell much less than predicted? How much do you think it will sell?
Wouldnt that be a bit short time between the release of Phantasy Star Nova and the Nepro acquisition, that PSN would be a main reason for why TriAce was sold? Phantasy Star Nova was released in late November 2014, and it was announced some days ago that Nepro got TriAce. Wasnt TriAce also under contract by Sega, so they (TriAce) already got payed for their work?
Interesting, what are the main reasons PSNova under performed so badly?TriAces hardships have been going on for quite a long time, the new IPs they created haven´t been very successful, they got a good amount of work mainly from SquareEnix and Sega. Since the FF13 trilogy is over and there doesn´t seem to be big interest for neither Valkyry Profile nor Star Ocean from SQEXs part, it seems they aren´t working as closely as just a few years ago. Konami let them develop some games like Frontier Gate, all sold under expecation and Konami doesn´t seem to be interested in a more broader lineup anyway.
With both SQEX downsizing their collaboration and Konami falling through as a supporter. Sega was basically their last anchor in my opinion, they gave them the opportunity to work on their most successful handheld IP Phantasy Star. With the largely disappointing results it is reasonable to expect that they think that this simply didn´t work out and that they have to look for a different solution for their Phantasy Star games and moving forward with someone else instead. Sega also made pretty clear that they´ll consolidate their gaming devision, and I doubt a new IP by Tri-Ace is in their books.
Basically they have lost a lot of support from publishers compared to previous years and they had no luck with their last chance which in my opinion was becoming the developers of handheld versions of Phantasy Star games going forward, due to the bad performance and lukewarm reception. Their situation seemed to be that they had little and insufficient contract work to keep the boat afloat going forward and therefore a very bad outlook for the coming years.
Two pre-release demos that were bad all around. Poor word of mouth. etc.Interesting, what are the main reasons PSNova under performed so badly?
- Regarding f2p/mobile games, Matsuda says their goal is to go multiplatform, for example mobile titles would be released also on PS Vita or PS4. Their (mobile) teams are using Unity more and more, which should make it easier.
Yeah, TriAce doesnt seem to have done too well during the last years, and i think it was the overall problems (those that you mentioned) that TriAce faced that was the main reason for the Nepro acquisition, indeed, i agree. I have to admit that i dont know how fast these acquisitions usually are being done (probably variates from case to case), but it seems to me to be a bit short time between the release of PSN (then they would have to wait some weeks to see how it sells) and when the Nepro acquisition happened for the PSN sales to have a bigger impact if they were sold off or not. I think that Nepro could have bought TriAce regardless if PSN sold better, but the PSN sales probably didnt help TriAce's case. But i think that TriAce made a good decision to sell themself off, since then they can perhaps be guaranteed to have works for the upcoming years.TriAces hardships have been going on for quite a long time, the new IPs they created haven´t been very successful, they got a good amount of work mainly from SquareEnix and Sega. Someone say that Phantasy Star Online 2 also is likely a reason, that people could just play PSO2 instead. Two pre-release demos that were bad all around. Poor word of mouth. etc.

Japanese blogs said PSP users upgraded to Vita for GE 2. Also debut packs don't cause this big of a bump.Vita debut pack was launched this week.

Don't get too hasty.
I think he was being sarcastic
Yeah, that might be. But i think that TriAce could have decided to sell themself to Nepro even if PSN sold better, based on their problems in the recent years. But who knows. Hard to know how TriAce was thinking and looking at the situation. But i think it could be a good thing for TriAce to do the sell off, since then they might be given work for the upcoming years =)PSN launched three months ago, preorders already hinted that it would perform quite worse even longer ago, so I doubt they hoped for a miracle instead of beeing a little bit more proactive.
Still, the age of 3DS is done. It's hard to tell over the net :3

Is Chris1964 alive?
Being unreasonably optimistic of the Vita is kind of a running joke here.
That is good, I think it deserves the sales for trying something different.Dragon Ball: Xenoverse has already outsold Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z, Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi and Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2.
The game is showing good legs, but I don't think they will be long enough to catch Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit which was the best selling console entry of past generation.
That is good, I think it deserves the sales for trying something different.
The problem was that DBZ fighting games were becoming stale.
It is funny to think that Xenoverse will probably rank higher on Metacritic than The Order 1886.
I don't know if it is a running joke since every time it is made, at least three people patrolling these threads quickly reply calling out the joke.
It seems some people still do not get its a joke despite being in these threads for so long >.<
the only running joke is the same people getting salty about the Vita jokes over and over againI don't know if it is a running joke since every time it is made, at least three people patrolling these threads quickly reply calling out the joke.
you know whyThe problem I see is that I understand when I see some new faces answering to the joke, but many times are people who follow MC threads since ever.
I was wondering just that, ha ha.
Maybe Chris1964 suffered a heart attack from the numbers this week.

I think Chris has been late to post quite a few sales threads recently. Doesn't his script automatically scrape and format the sales data?
I realise this is a voluntary contribution of his, but GAF is reputed for its speed – as well as its accuracy. Perhaps the script needs some tweaking so that it can be triggered by anybody and the thread auto-created or something.

Don't get too hasty.
Last week PS4 was overselling Wii U 3:1 now it's 4:1. Pretty interesting getting into the March period where PS4 will get a stream of games.
Rage Burst's debut is good overall but weak on PS4. Both combined should easily do over 350k though which is a good result.
Oh, come on, he has been doing this shit for free without asking anything for god knows how much time. Let's respect him, we are not a magazine and we don't need to publish asap. I'm sure it´s coming soon and we will have our usual fun. Be patient.
Calm down. I did acknowledge that his contribution is voluntary and his efforts are greatly appreciated by everybody here. But if he has other priorities, there are plenty of other posters who are more than capable.
"We are not a magazine" is indeed true we are a community.
Chris isn't the only guy who has done this the torch has been passed from gaffer to gaffer. It can be passed again if need be.
