If this deal passes, we really about to see how big Jim's Beans are.

I've accepted that this deal will likely pass, but still hoping it doesn't.
Don't worry. If it passes, COD will slowly die under Xbox. Look at Halo, when the talent left to Bungie. Major talents will leave Acti/Bliz once the deal goes through and that talent will disperse to form new studios, join other companies across the industry. There is something wrong with Microsoft/Xbox's managing, career incentives, etc whatever it is, talented people don't want to be a part of it.

Sony will drop their advertisement deals with COD and put their focus on the new and hottest FPS and that FPS will overtake COD. Maybe the rebirth of Battlefield or Xdefience, or Deviation games, Bungie's marathon, Firewalk, etc..

Just look at Minecraft and its fall from grace, just look at Halo, just look at Gears..When the talent leaves, the soul of the games leave with it and eventually it will be an empty husk like Halo, and Gears. Minecraft is on its way there. Then COD is next. Xbox/Microsoft has not proven to make games better and re-invent franchises after they buy the I.P and the trend will continue with COD.

They probably know the CMA isn’t blocking it.
Of course they are not blocking it , ms are in downing Street on the very day the CMA decision lands giving a talk about the gaming industry apparently it would be a massive embarrassment if they were denied while at no10 lol

prove me wrong - have you seen the Halo #s, where is Gears? Have you seen the Minecraft reviews?
Minecraft is doing better then ever.
Age of Empires 4 came out and is great.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is the best it has ever been.
Forza Horizon 5 was amazing and the new Forza Motorsport looks great.

Halo is the only one that is struggling, and that is not because the game is poor or anything. It is because the multiplayer had a dire lack of content, the campaign and the actually gameplay of the multiplayer has been received very well. Gears is not doing the numbers it has been, but the last game was by no means bad.

Only Halo and Gears are no longer as impressive as they were during the glory days, and that's because Microsoft had to create two completely new studios for them, which is not really analogous to the ABK situation at all.

Talking about reviews, has anyone actually seen the metas for the last bunch of CoD's? They're all in the 70s as well. Review scores have fuck all to do with 'success'.

The user reviews also aren't too hot on steam.

Just as with the likes of FIFA, people have a love-hate relationship with these games.

COD isnt halo. 343i killed halo by pushing the game with minimal content. That is not the same for COD.

And Sony cant fill COD hole, like people here expecting it. In the future 5-7 years maybe, but that is IF. They have yet to make halo killer.
Halo killed itself.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Personally, I haven't put much stock into user reviews for a long while now and every time another one of the "being blasted in the user scores" controversy comes up, it just solidifies my reasoning even more.

That's most likely because you're lumping steam's user reviews in with user reviews on every other platform/place.

"Guy who buys fifa every year these days, and will buy the new fifa this year"

They mess up the gameplay with every update. Right now, I am doing a league one to premier league run, and the movement ball is much different than when I got the game.

Still, I keep messing up easy goals, because powershot is messed up. And every goal keeper is acting like manuel neuer+prime Yashin against me.

Over/Under on some activision suit taking phil’s job? I’m taking the under at 3 years.

I think Kotick is in charge or in some kind of advisory role within 12 months if it goes through.

Say what you want about him but he understands this business better than most.

Recessions don't give a fuck about woke tears, people will soon wake up to that fact.

They can block Microsoft games from PS Store in an attempt to bleed them harder than it would be for Sony, yes, but would it be worth it? Wouldn't that make the whole industry shocked and wary of making business with a company who can signal it can kick anyone that they feel it might be an opposition?
Trying to out bleed a multi-trillion dollar behemoth? It’s not an issue of being worthy or not, it’s just impossible.

I feel it's the gamepass complex kicking in. Games that launch on GP have a serious budget cap. Content will be cut. You cant make a game with a seriously big budget when you get no sales for it. People dont buy long period subs for single games. maybe a month to try the game but that's not where the money is.

You can guarantee he has it structured where he benefits in all of this.

MS wont fire him, since activision story right now doesnt exist that much in the public eye.

They will quietly give him a cushion job first, then management position later.

Well, arguably, Halo killed itself. It was huge in the era when the COD was much smaller and then it did not adapt on time - it stuck to the same formula for a long long time.

That is just bulshit narritive that people have these days.

Gamepass games dont have budget limit, especially with MS money. Plus gamepass sub pays the money back. They get like 2b revenue from gamepass at this moment,
Halo failure stems from live service game trend that is happening now.

Microsoft just posted the third quarter of its 2023 fiscal financial results. The software maker made $52.9 billion in revenue and a net income of $18.3 billion during Q3. Revenue is up 7 percent, and net income has increased by 9 percent.
The devices revenue doesn’t cover Microsoft’s Xbox efforts, though. That’s separated out into Xbox hardware revenue, which has dropped by 30 percent this quarter along with a slight increase of 3 percent in Xbox content and services revenue thanks to Xbox Game Pass growth. Overall, gaming revenue has declined 4 percent. Microsoft sold fewer Xbox Series S / X consoles over the holiday quarter than it did at higher prices in the same period in 2022, and it looks like that has continued into the most recent quarter.

You’re thinking of Halo 4. 5 had excellent MP
But lame campaign. It was like Halo 4 good campaign, bad mult; Halo 5 had bad campaign, good mult; Halo Infinite good campaign, good multiplayer, no content 💀

Server products and cloud services revenue increased 17% (up 21% in constant currency) driven by Azure and other cloud services revenue growth of 27% (up 31% in constant currency)
Azure is a crazy money maker

ahhh Halo was HUGE back in its days. What are you talking about? How do you know Acti/Bliz under Microsoft won't do the same? Its already been proven that "they want to do more with less" It's the company motto.

Straight from the Big guys mouth the philosophy he follows when running the entire Microsoft umbrella. It works for cloud, and productivity software but it will not work for "creative" media like gaming.

Microsoft wants to use A.I and do not care about talent, & creators as much as Sony who spent a billion to retain the talent when they purchased Bungie. Creativity cannot be automated like Microsoft believes. COD will be chopped down to fit Gamepass. Just look to Halo for the example of what Microsoft wants to do. The only difference was Halo already half dead when they released it on Gamepass, while COD is still alive.

The #s tells the story.

people talking about sony removing games but they won't

the strongest part of playstation is marketing, wonder how well cod will work without full playstation amrketing ( not marketing deal, i mean playstation advertising for the game not the exclusive beta and stuff)

It’s Call of Duty. Not exactly the hardest sell in the world.

You’ll really get a harsh dose of reality eventually.

Nearly spat out my drink when you accused Microsoft of ruining Minecraft 😂. Totally removed any possibility that you knew what you were talking about.

Have you seen the ratings of the last 2 Mineraft? You think that wont have an effect on it at all?
