MotionPlus and WiiSpeak questions

Wii Speak already in development, not specifically designed for Animal Crossing City Folk:

ONM: Did you ask for the microphone specifically for City Folk or was it being developed already?

Katsuya Eguchi: We’re always sharing information with the hardware group and all the teams within Nintendo so we can keep track of things. But in this case we were talking and they told me that they had this microphone in development and I said “Really? That would work well with Animal Crossing. Here’s what we’d like it to do…”
I wonder if there is a title in development that Wii Speak was made for, maybe Stage Debut? Regardless, I like the idea of it, and there are going to be more titles that use it.

Will they release a new channel to take advantage of WiiSpeak even if you don't have Animal Crossing? I hope so.

Yeah, a Wii Speak channel could be great, I hope they do it too. It could have some fun little games/events and be a good way to introduce the device, in addition to Animal Crossing.

It would be cool if they made it compatible with Mario Kart. You could use it when playing online with a buddy in the same room :D.

About Excite Trucks like controls, I thought about it and one easy way to overcome the missing 1&2 buttons with the MotionPlus plugged in, would be to hold the wiimote with the dpad on the right, so that the thumb can have access to 4 "buttons". Problem solved.

Other big news, partly answering a previous question we had: will games launching few weeks prior to the MotionPlus feature hidden gyroscopic controls?

Here is what Capcom has to say about it:

Capcom talks Wii MotionPlus plans

By Captain, 8 Aug, 2008 - 12:32 PM - Nintendo's announcement of Wii MotionPlus has surely left some developers with a big decision to make: get games in development on store shelves as per their original schedule, or hold onto them for a little longer while the new functionality is implemented.

In Nintendo's case, it seems the company has decided on the former as far as Wii Music is concerned, but Capcom might be looking at adding support to games nearer to the end of their development cycles according to Christian Svensson, the company's Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development.

As he usually does, he's expressed his thoughts via the company's official forums, saying, "I can’t speak for Japan’s teams (I haven’t spoken with Takeuchi or Inafune about it), but at CEI, we are eagerly awaiting access to the SDK to see what it’s like to work with. We have a couple of projects we’re contemplating some sort of support if it makes sense as a supplemental control mechanism."

Q109 games better include this added support to enhance their appeal once the device is released.
