Over the past few hours, however, a number of social media posts have surfaced online, revealing the names of at least some of the employees who got fired from BioWare today.

According to posts shared on LinkedIn and Bluesky, BioWare's restructuring has led to the termination of Dragon Age: The Veilguard's Lead Writer Trick Weekes, Lead Editor Karin West-Weekes, and Narrative Editor Ryan Cormier. Additionally, BioWare Producer Jennifer Cheverie Cott, Associate Game Producer Daniel Steed, Senior Product Manager Lina Anderson, and Senior Systems Designer Michelle Flamm were also let go, while Senior Writer Sheryl Chee, who wrote Dragon Age's Leliana, Isabela, Blackwall, and Harding, was moved to EA Motive.

Who would have though self-inserting yourself and your fetishes into a game would end badly?
Those messages at least suggest these people were around when the writing was still good. 19-26 years takes us back to the days of BG2 and KOTOR. Those guys are perhaps not to blame. It’s the narcissistic director who used this game as a vanity project who was the core of the issues.

Yes, it seems like a weirdo was put in charge of this project, ruined it with self-inserts, and the rank and file staff paid as much of a price.

Hopefully they land on their feet, though I will say that Veilguard had horrendous writing. Probably the worst I've ever seen in an RPG. I never thought we'd get Disney-level writing, and the word "skullfucker" being used as an insult in a fantasy setting, but here we are.

That Taash non-binary shit is some of the most cringe DEI woke trash I’ve ever seen in a game. Even if the rest of the writing were a masterpiece (which it’s not), anybody who had anything to do with writing Taash or giving it the green light should be fired and blacklisted from the industry.

They say videogame writing always sucked. BUT videogame writing was infinitely better when enthusiasts made did it, before these activists became so called “professional writers”. Oh well, how much we will miss you, dear professional writers.
Apparently EA is also done with DEI infested crap that doesn't sell.

Voting with your wallet (and time) certainly helps.

I get what you are saying, but Bioware has been wallowing in mediocrity for a while now. Probably a good thing to bring in some new blood.

Give these guys credit. Seems like many were longtime Bioware employees. Fuck up a franchise with politics, fortnite graphics, and you cant even control NPC anymore.

Get fired and collect giant severance. And as you know, the longer you work at a company the more you get (unless you get fired for cause and something serious). These guys probably got 12-18 months severance pay.

It’s like getting rewarded for screwing up. It would be like you hire a contractor to fix your house. He messes up. Instead of getting compensated or the issues fixed for free, you pay him more money as a bonus.
