My first ever platinum trophy 🏆 - feedback

Hi,

I today had my first ever platinum trophy, for god of war Ragnarok.

I don't really know why I wanted this, maybe because I wanted to see what it's like to complete a game at 100%.

Globally my feelings :
On the plus side : - sense of achievement. You left no stone unturned.
On the negative side that leaves a bad taste in my mouth : it was long, so long. It took me 37 hours to complete the story. To get the platinum took me 98 hours.
At a certain stage, in was no more gaming. It was a chore. Like redoing everything, looking everywhere for artifacts, relics, crows and other collectibles.

Sure the lore is so beautiful in GOWR, but why did the devs had to put so many collectibles. Some of them where excruciating to find.

I paid up to now no attention to the trophy's system. I tried for 1 game. Now that I achieved it, I put in gently there and never ever trying to achieve a platinum trophy again. Life is too short, and if achieving so requires you to spend 10s of hours on something that is not at all on the same level of fun as the standard game, then I say, for myself, it's not worth it.

I totally respect trophy hunters but definitely not for me.

Yeah, I don't try to platinum games for the sake of the platinum.

But if I'm enjoying a game and I'm close to platinuming it, I'll do the last few trophies purposely.

I find gaming much more enjoyable when your not thinking about the trophies.
I was thinking also I was not that far at the end of gow Ragnarok. I was thinking 37 hours in. So at 45 hours I should have it. How wrong was I ! It took me triple the initial hours, at a staggering 98 hours. I'm like you, gaming is better without trophy for me too.

And did you continue hunting for platinum or did you stop there ?
Just in case you don't know the second half of my post was a joke as TWD platinum is simply finishing the game but for your question.

Not really. I don't have a lot of platinums, and I definitely don't go into a game looking to get them. I will definitely look up a trophy list and see like "Oh well this is easy" so I'll make sure to get it but I'm not aiming to get 100% in anything and part of that is just due to backlog. I have too many games to play and trying to get the platinum in something like Rebirth would keep me from playing other games so I just move on.

Have PS3, 4 and 5.
Astro's Playroom was my first.
Since then I got Control, Gardens Between and Ghost of Tsushima.

I just look at what's left after finishing a game and if I'm enjoying the game and there's not much left to do, then I'll go for it.

Not worth the extra time since there was lots of replaying. But I like that they sent me an email telling me how awesome I was 👍

You should go for easier ones that respect your time, like The Evil Within or Vanquish.

I'm retarded?
Dont worry op, I never bothered doing 100% of any game unless it was done by default or in my way of doing it, but for some reason this year I decided to do 100% to a lot of games. I think I did 15 games 100% achievos this year alone. I also have a few plats on my PS such as for the spider-man games.

I think Hades was the most tedious to do because its one of them is very RNG and I just wouldnt get the dialogue to get it. Horrible.

My first ever Platinum was Uncharted on PS3. Which, if I remember correctly, it was the first game ever to have trophies.

If I recall, correctly, Super Stardust HD was the first game to have trophies. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was the first to have a platinum trophy.

Ragnarok platinum was exhausting and soured me on the game so much that I have yet to start Valhalla... My most priced platinums are the Resident Evil games, only because you almost turn into a professional speedrunner by the time you get them.

To me it always sounded like you had to play a game until you hated it to get a plat.

Do you think a couple months from now you'll have negative feelings toward GOWR because of this grind?

Not being much at all of a raider in WoW lead me to collect stuff including achievement. It was fine because at the the time I just no lifed the game without worrying about playing something else. It doesn't click the same way for me for other stuff. My first plat was for Bloodborne and second was GoW 2018. That was enough.

Calling it a chore is very accurate sadly leading me to engage in things I actively hated while other games in the backlog were piling up. No thanks, not for me. Now it's just play till the game is beat or I'm just sick of playing to avoid any kind of burn out.

Only a select few games get me to platinum/100% them. Those are the games I want to wring every bit of gameplay out of because even doing the side- and fluff content in them is more interesting than another game I could switch to.

Those include:
Elden Ring
Dark Souls
Dishonored 2
The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners
Bioshock

Then there are some that are easy enough to platinum or get close just playing for fun, so I'll go out of my way to mop up the remaining trophies. Such as:

Unicorn Overlord
Chernobylite

I really want to platinum Dead Space remake someday. Beating the game in Impossible mode is required for it, and it's a hardcore challenge with real stakes: If you die, you lose.

My only platinum is Diablo 3. I wasn't even trying to get it, it just happened because I came back to play almost every season for a week or two.

I can't remember my first platinum. Maybe rock band 2, but not confident in that. I do remember my first platinum on PS4 though, that would be resogun. Kick ass game

I do feel you on the grind, I still like to go for plats in anything I play, but I don't kill myself for them. Pretty much if it's gonna take multiple hours and I'm not enjoying the game after I feel done with it, I just don't go for it
