Naughty Dog's next game will offer lots of player freedom - you are not ready for how amazing it looks

Initially I would be all about this and it can still be a great thing, but after the honeymoon phase of both Zelda TotK and other large scale games with tons of freedom, I wouldn't mind having something more scripted again.

I trust that Naighty Dog would do it well though. I actually found the combat and gameplay of TLOU Part 2 to be some of my favorites in gaming. The wide linear levels were perfect. I wished every single game was like that since I played it. Maybe you can be able to tackle objectives in a few different ways instead of one that affects the story or your playstyle.

Hopefully this means Naughty Dog are taking on-board the criticism of their hyper-linear style, and giving players something resembling agency. Of course, old habits die hard, and I fear "greater player freedom" will just equate to open areas where your free to murder things in whatever order you want before arriving at the trigger point for the next over-produced cut-scene that ignores everything you did, or did not, do. As for the visuals, I'm sure it'll look great.
I mean no shit. You expect them to make a AAA realistically animated cutscene for EVERY SINGLE DIFFERENT INTERACTION a player can commit throughout the game?

Story is ND's bread and butter and going for a sandbox approach like Elden Ring or TOTK just means that it'll be pushed to the side for gameplay. And for other games that works but for ND games where they hinge on their storytelling and presentation that doesn't cut it. Especially since their gameplay isn't anything special compared to others

If it's TLOU3, I hope they can re-work San Francisco into the game, it would be such a waste if they don't, considering how long they worked on TLOU online. And I lived in SF for 12 years, would fucking LOVE to explore an apocalyptic SF. Spare me the "SF is already apocalyptic" jokes.

To be fair I have been in SF twice recently for work and well…. 😉

They cannot replicate the story telling of from games. Theyve tried with tlou2 but it's just bad attempts. The item descriptions of from games are way better that the letters in tlou.

During the latest episode of the MinnMax Show on YouTube, host Ben Hanson mentioned hearing a few things about the next game from Naughty Dog, including comparison to “a game with a lot of player freedom”.

Hanson heard from somebody very in the know who worked on the next Naughty Dog game that people are not ready for how amazing it is going to be. He also mentioned that the game that were referenced as a point of comparison to Naughty Dog’s title has a lot of player freedom.

Naughty Dog president and game director, Neil Druckmann, had shared that the studio’s next game is really ambitious. He added that parts of the game are really hard to work on. However, he said that he has surrendered to knowing that it is going to be really hard and to knowing that it is going to be stressful for members of the development team.
So they're making a BOTW clone? The last Sony console I owned briefly was a PS 2 for FF X and I hated that game put me off FF for good. Anyways long story long I'm not buying a sony ever again.

I never thought replicating From story telling was something they were trying to do in TLOU2. The letters stuff was no different than what you would find in any story focused game. I think they are going to try doing From like story telling going forward in Intergalactic.

Playstation needs more games with replayability. I'm really hoping the open world design of Intergalactic means more variety when it comes to gameplay. We already know it will have melee weapons and guns. Distinct builds that play very differently would be awesome. The greatest part of Elden Ring is the crazy amount of freedom with how you approach the game

How tired do you have to be to still be pretending you didn’t like TLOUII in 2025

If you’re going to reply please answer. This isn’t a rhetorical question.

Overly long, characters weren’t as good as Part 1’s, and found its message muddy. Replayed Part 1 a few times before Part 2 came out. Only played Part 2 once, and never had a desire to replay either after that. As far as Cycle of Violence stories go, it’s not one of my favorites.

Think he is more talking about the discrepancies between gameplay and cutscenes that are common to these type of games:
Gun down 50 guys - then have crisis of conscience killing one main bad guy
Gun down 50 guys leaping about the level - main bad guy shows up with two henchmen 'oh no we are surrounded, throw down your guns'
Massacring bad guys and piling on damage on the main bad guy and dodging all his attacks - cutscene triggers - bad guy disarms you and now it is hand to hand - kick his ass, he never lands a blow - cut scene triggers, he knocks you the fuck out before escaping.

I asked how tired you are.
