Talking to you from a worldwide perspective, we don't even see Xbox ads, we only see Sony's. Worldwide most average people just refer to gaming as playing playstation. Xbox actually sounds more like a troll nickname on a chat roam or porn related. There is no person around here that won't know what Playstation is, no matter how old he/she is. There are Xboxes in some shops, just saying, most other shops just ditched them away as they were taking room with near zero sales.
Most youngesters and older ones when we see famous football players they always play on playstation. It's part of the culture. I can see Xbox making healthy sales in the US, probably in the UK as well. Just don't push your luck above that.
Nobody cares about console sales in Uzbekistan ... they care about total console sales .. and most importantly for developers and the industry total game sales .. which 360 won easily over ps3.
I always said it’s unlikely that Xbox outsells playstation ... but having a lockhart that’s 150$ cheaper on launch and plays all the same games at the same frame rate .. and basically the only difference is between 4k and 1080p ... and no competitor in that space from Sony... that will make a real difference.
I have a 4k OLED and 1080p with aa almost looks as good as 4k ... I’ll be advising my budget conscious friends who barely can tell the difference between the ps4 and xbox games .. to buy the Lockhart .. no question.
I doubt that it will be that much cheaper though is real question though.

If i remember correctly the first time Xbox was equal or a few bucks cheaper than PS4 was late 2015, early 2016 with both around 300 bucks and by that time it was already over. At some point the price gets less important and what your friends have is most important. The Blu Ray drive (cheapest Blu Ray player on the market) saved PS3 and the original Xbox was released worldwide when Sony already had sold like 30 million PS2.Will never happen. Xbox One was basically a $199 machine since 2014, sold third of PS4 .
$399/499 Xbox 360 couldn't outsell $600/500 PS3 (overall WW sales not NPD only)
The original Xbox slashed its price to $199 shortly after release and couldn't outsell PS2 despite being twice as powerful (that's more than 100% GPU power not including other advantages (arch and Ram)
Only way for MS to outsell Playstation is simply buying the division (brand) from Sony, and good damn luck with that
But i agree, there is no way MS can outsell PS next gen and the reasons are Pc releases, Game Pass and xCloud.

People seem to be hardliners here despite pretending to be agnostic. At what point will you admit bias or will everyone ride it out forever? I mean, Sony’s first party is small fries just like Microsoft’s (Just Sony tend to do a better job in variety).
What would make you change consoles?
I like Xbox because of the superior support for 4K and power that came later in the current generation. I HAVE owned every generation of PS and Xbox. If Sony had the better hardware to support next gen displays than Xbox, I’d go PS5 in a heartbeat. This means focusing heavily on HDMI 2.1 capabilities instead of selling me a brand. If PS5 or XSX were HDMI 2.0 I wouldn’t even consider them as a serious upgrade.
I don’t really care about services, but I know that’s important this generation to many. (When my gamepass expires in May I’ll go back to buying physical games as usual).
It’s a little sad though if the Xbox is better in both services AND technology and both get essentially the same 3rd party releases as expected.
The only selling point I expect from Sony for PS5 right now is “Hey we’ve got shittier technology, but hey, it’s “good enough and both platforms will be great” & look at ‘dis brand recognition!”.
But, at least they will have PSVR2 and maybe they’ll moneyhat enough 3rd party exclusives again to keep all the non first world countries eating it up yet again. If there’s one thing that’s for sure, poverty goes hand in hand with Soccer and Playstation.
I’d say that Playstation had a more promising future if they’d be less irrational and move their headquarters back to Japan.
The Playstation headquarters in California will shape and mold next gen PS for the Resetera crowd far more than for Gaffers and real gamers.

PS1 was the most powerful console when it released, PS2 was too, PS3 was a bit more powerful than Xbox 360 overall, and PS4 as well is more powerful than Xbox One.

Trouble is mate, that’s totally fine. I love the damn things as well. But some of you, yes, even you, have this strange bias. It’s very obvious you favour Sony, more power to you. That’s fine. Everybody likes one over the other, everybody has a preference. But you’re using this bias to essentially shoot down anything that says the SX may be better, but take on blind faith when somebody says the PS5 may be better.
The thing is, that yes, historically, the PlayStation has had great tech, and yes, historically, they have had better first party games, and of course yes, historically, they have sold more. But that doesn’t mean that it’s 100% going to be the same in the future. Hell a lot of xboxes decisions at times the annoying, most of all their stance on VR.
Im not a betting man, but I would put more money on PS5 selling more than Xbox next gen, of course I would. But you can’t talk about first party output as fact, because to be fair, Xbox have made huge changes and put a lot of work in. I’m sure PS5 will still have heavy hitters and they will be incredible, but I think Xbox may surprise a few people with some of their own. The truth here is you can’t say for certain.
And as for hardware, you’re cherry picking details. The PSOne was vastly inferior to the N64 except for its cd rom. The Ps2 was vastly inferior to the Xbox, hell even the Dreamcast. The ps3 was over engineered to the point that people couldn’t get it running as good as the 360. The PS4 was a solid machine but mostly because Xbox really did fuck up with the one, and they chased the wrong areas, and let’s not joke here, the cooling in the PS4 is utterly dreadful. But you only have to look at the pro versus one x to see that design philosophy had changed, and while yes there was a one year gap, the x is far, far superior. The cooling in particular.
Now for next gen? Well, the same thing keeps getting repeated over and over, that the SX isn’t as mature in dev kit but faster, the PS5 is more mature in dev kit but a tiny bit slower, and nothing matters because they are equal. That’s fine. That’s the best result. You WANT that. But some of you really are hurting at the fact SX may be that stupidly tiny little bit faster...? Hell I can’t say what I know, from my talks with my friends who have actual hardware in hand, all of different updates. All I will say is the above lines up. For now. At this moment. But I wouldn’t put anything out there, I’m not an idiot.
You will still get a stupidly powerful ps5. You will still get your Sony exclusives. It will still blow your balls off.
Just calm the strange bias down a tad, that’s all. It’s a bit embarrassing. You’re free to like what you want, but you’re outright in some cases insulting people who dare to say something you don’t agree on. It’s... it’s just weird, man...

If you’ll read my previous posts in this thread you’ll see that I‘m totally fine about people being passionate. I’ve made many a post in this thread about how things work, technology, and what is likely or not. In fact I’m likely one of the higher posters. You may even notice that certain people ignore what I say, because it doesn’t fit what they want to hear.
I’m totally fine with people being passionate.
But when you slam people down for not sharing your point of view, that’s when it gets a bit awkward. Feel free to discuss why you believe X is better than Y, but don’t cherry pick the details that suit your agenda and then moan when people remind you of the bits you conveniently ignore that don’t suit your narrative.
