There is. You'll have to cross to the other side to see it.
Is their a thread on this?
Actually I missed that small bit, but what he is saying there, is that when the console is fully loaded with a game filling the 36CUs with full efficient workload the GPU clock will only need a drop of 2% - presumably meaning 2.23Ghz * 0.98 * 36 *64 * 2 = 10.1TF – to avoid the need to draw the 10% more power. Which it can’t anyway because the power use is fixed for the system – presumably – in PS5 mode, and fixed again – at lower levels – for PS4 and PS4 Pro modes, which must be drawing a lot less.At this moment I don't know what the fuck was going through Cernys mind when he designed this piece of shit. It is not power efficient (2% lower clocks saves 10% power), it is not as powerful as a lower clocked device with more CUs, it even isn't fully backwards compatible...
Well, looks like the development kits of the PlayStation 5 were 12+ TFLOPS, so I think this is what made all of the conflicting info come out, but I believe this is what the PS5 dev kits were hence why all of them said it is more powerful than XSX.I am freaking out about PS5s specs.
Lots of insiders lead us to believe that PS5 was 12+ teraflops:
Andy Reiner reported devs at E319 were saying PS5 was more powerful
Colin Moriarty said PS5 was more powerful
BGs said PS5 was in it's puberty, I replied I guessed 12-13 and he liked my comment
Kleegamefan said PS5 was more powerful
Osirisblack said PS5 was 12.4 teraflops
Tommy Fisher said PS5 was 13.3 teraflops
So 10.3 teraflops (variable because to get there it runs at insane clocks) is a big dissappointment.
So yeah, we have new data that tells us that PS5 is much worse than expected. Only technical aspects in it's favor are the SSD and the audio chip, which experience tell us are going to be ignored by the majority of multiplatform developers. And according to this new data my opinion about PS5 has changed for the worse.
I wonder the same thing but I considered the value Cerny gives is the final usable size by the consumers, as opposed to saying 1TB Custom SSD on the spec and then when going home and setting up you realize it is far less and curiously either very close to this figure or exactly the same depending on wether the 1TB device was 1024GB or flat out 1000GB, both can be sold as 1TB by different vendors.Anyone know how Sony arrived at the very unusual 825GB SSD size? Cerny claimed “With 12 channel interface, the most natural size that emerges for an SSD is 825GB” but it doesn't make much sense to me. 512Gbit NAND chips would be too small (512/8*12=768GB), 1024Gbit NAND would be too big (1.5TB). 768Gbit NAND with a really big SLC cache or other kind of of tiered storage solution? Bad NAND with disabled cells? Some wonky mix of NAND densities?
Well fuck em, we don't even know what we are asking for and we look to other sources to try to understand what it all means but along the way assume the narrative of expectancy and being let down or being hyped. Numbers game is always pushed by journalists and assumed by the masses. As soon as the first batch of games hit, real hands on experience and word of mouth will work its magic anyway, marketing up to that point is important too, so what I'm saying is games were and always will be the final deciding factor.Well to be fair a lot of journalists and game devs are hoping that the PS5 can punch above its weight because it is generally a slightly inferior piece of kit compared to XsX.
There are around 104 million fans that were totally let down yesterday, including journalists and developers.
Answer stays the same.My entire post was in comparison to the xsx. I should have said, "will 3rd party games be impactfully different on the ps5 than the xsx solely because of the ps5's ssd drive."
So they say something which us we can already deduce for the TF difference and how works that in navi performance ....I had a Dev respond. I asked Them how he would compare the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Their response was Xbox Series X is 15% more powerful in Raw power. Then they said I want you think about PS5 and Xbox Series X in these terms.
Xbox Series X is the strong guy that can carry a load plus 15%.
PS5 carry’s a 15% percent less load but carries a load 1 and a half times faster. In a lot of circumstances.
This Gen will be closer then last gen. In this Devs Opinion.
I’m just passing on what the Dev told me. I’m excited for both PS5 and Xbox Series X. Both Day One purchases for me!
Pro consoles will happen for sure, there's no way ps5/sex run next gen only graphics intensive games at 4k/60fpsMaybe we'll see a PS5 Pro? Or maybe it got cancelled and this was its dev kits?
Yes the ps5 will probably be loud and hot like the PS4 pro at those clocks. Is too early to confirm this. Games still speak more loud.
So among all those shitty insiders it was just @Tommy Fisher who actually knew something, at least MS side.
Man jast take a look at @OsirisBlack @o'dium @BGsHeisenbergFX4 all insider bullshit posts! Such a shame!
Yeah but ps5 with 10TF is just too much for a budget console like will be lockhartWell, looks like the development kits of the PlayStation 5 were 12+ TFLOPS, so I think this is what made all of the conflicting info come out, but I believe this is what the PS5 dev kits were hence why all of them said it is more powerful than XSX.
Or maybeVFXVeteran rumor that a PlayStation 5 Pro is real but Sony didn't come out and announced it just like Microsoft didn't announce their Xbox Lockhart?
Maybe we'll see a PS5 Pro? Or maybe it got cancelled and this was its dev kits?
Yeah this is what I'm thinking as well, this generation we'll see lots of 30 FPS games, that's for sure.Pro consoles will happen for sure, there's no way ps5/sex run next gen only graphics intensive games at 4k/60fps
Might even see dynamic/checkered 4k/30fps on PS5
Do you think will see it this year or later as happens with the last gen ?Pro consoles will happen for sure, there's no way ps5/sex run next gen only graphics intensive games at 4k/60fps
Might even see dynamic/checkered 4k/30fps on PS5
So they say something which us we can already deduce for the TF difference and how works that in navi performance ....
I think mid gen refreshes are going to be a persistent thing. 3 years seems fine.Pro consoles will happen for sure, there's no way ps5/sex run next gen only graphics intensive games at 4k/60fps
Might even see dynamic/checkered 4k/30fps on PS5
Dude again this is simple. We like games but we don't know what we want, we don't even know what we should want for next generation of gaming. We just take what we are given, right? Well developers know what they want, and the developers also know what we want. So on console manufacturer's PoV, it is (or should've be) quite simple to listen to them and give the developers what they want, so that in turn they will satisfy us.Who knew SSD was so important. On the plus side, I don't see too many gamers eating up the Tempest 3D audio sound chip which Cerny spent about 15 minutes on.
If SSD was that important for power, you'd have PC gamers going full tilt on spending on SSDs over cpu/gpu/ram.
So they say something which us we can already deduce for the TF difference and how works that in navi performance ....
Wrong , it was in the DF article, but apparently was edited out because it was mis explained.Fake news.
MS never talked about framerate any it doesn’t run at 100fps at better setting than PC max.
In fact it runs pretty close to RTX 2080 settings/performance.
Yeah agreed, but 52 active CUs at 1.82Ghz 12.1 RDNA 2 tflops is not something easy to predict! That Fisher guy had at least something completely right unlike all those insider frauds here!I have nothing against these people but i have a feeling that the Fisher guy also used other leaked info on the internet as his source as far as i'm aware. He was never an insider. You either get news correct or not. We either have reliable journalists such as Jason Schreier which they have a solid track record and almost never share any false info (because their work is legit) or attention seeking people who will troll and laugh their way off.
If anything, This leak got most of the things correct and i think at least some of the mentioned people looked at it "at least once".
Besides If i'm not mistaking, Windows Central posted info about XsX and Lockhart before anyone even knew that MS had any plans to show their console at TGA. Even those info shared some similarity with the link i'm referring to. (Not saying Windows Central copied from them or anything, But rather suggesting that the said leak sounds way more legit than all of these people combined)
Again, I will apologize in advance if anyone of the mentioned people's upset with this post.
Maybe at 4k, but 60FPS should be doable at 1440p or 1080p in extreme cases.Yeah this is what I'm thinking as well, this generation we'll see lots of 30 FPS games, that's for sure.
The fake news come from Gamespot.Wrong , it was in the DF article, but apparently was edited out because it was mis explained.
I expect (almost know for sure) atleast 4 games that will run 4k 60fps with next gen intensive graphicsPro consoles will happen for sure, there's no way ps5/sex run next gen only graphics intensive games at 4k/60fps
Might even see dynamic/checkered 4k/30fps on PS5
If by "impressive" you mean more - then yes - power consumption is at least the cube of the clock - I'm expecting the PS5 to draw maybe 25% more power yhan XbX.Someone has since shown the image of the XsX PSU (500watts with minimum at ~250watts) suggesting that when power draw is compared, PS5’s 10TF at massive clock is going to be far more impressive than Xbox’s 12TF, and in a world where a little care by all about the planet might help a bit, it looks like a smart design IMHO - even if I wanted 15-18TF for RT.
Like I said, it was in the Digital Foundry main article as well, but was removed. I read it there when it was first posted, it's gone now. There was a whole discussion on it in beyond3d forums in one of their threads too. DF misunderstood something they were told. The fake news come from Gamespot.

Gears 5 Is Coming to Xbox Series X With Improvements, Possible 120 FPS Support
Gears 5 is getting major technical improvements on Xbox Series X, and the new version is a free upgrade anyone who bought it on Xbox One.www.gamespot.com
“Improvements on Xbox Series X include better textures and volumetric fog, higher particle count, and 60 frames per second during cutscenes for a smoother transition to gameplay. Shadows and lighting have also been improved, and the game is currently running at 100 frames per second with potential to hit 120 frames per second in multiplayer.”
If DF is saying the benchmarks they saw for XSX were very, very similar to stock RTX 2080, and they can eventually get a little over that, then I'd say the PS5 should be about a 1080ti, but with RTX. So something in between 2070 and 2070 Super, but a little more towards the latter.
Sorry for that ... bad day in workJust Passing on what I was told. Sorry if it wasn’t the Info you wanted. Have a good day.
Sorry for that ... bad day in work
If there are any next gen exclusives at launch i don't think they'll hit 4k and 60fps simultaneouslyDo you think will see it this year or later as happens with the last gen ?
Agree, mid gen refreshes are super good imo, console performance and resolution always degrade as gen advances. Its good to have an option for those who care about image quality and consistent performance that would otherwise switch to PC.I think mid gen refreshes are going to be a persistent thing. 3 years seems fine.
I don't see too many gamers hating that a Pro and X came out. It gives people options. It was the first time console gamers got offered a mid gen system, and I didn't see mass blowback.
More people seemed to stick to the base models, so it shows gamers aren't going to do mass overhauls in purchasing habits. But just like cellphones, as long as console makers get a steady stream of new users upgrading that's fine.
The probably prefer it this way instead of rolling the dice on 7 year systems.
Fake news.
MS never talked about framerate any it doesn’t run at 100fps at better setting than PC max.
In fact it runs pretty close to RTX 2080 settings/performance.
Ah don't worry, 99% of people here including me probably spits a lot of bullshit pretending to know how hardware and software works on a deep level. It's the classic "hardcore fan who actually never opened a book" syndrome.God damn, I just told people what folks were saying on here about the 100fps, now i feel like an idiot. THANKS GUYS.
God damn, I just told people what folks were saying on here about the 100fps, now i feel like an idiot. THANKS GUYS.
There will be exceptions but 4k/60fps won't be the norm, now a few nitpicks: Next Gears & Forza wont be truly next gen exclusive, next GT wont maintain a locked 60fps (yamauchi likes to push limits)I expect (almost know for sure) atleast 4 games that will run 4k 60fps with next gen intensive graphics
- Next Forza Motorsport
- Next Gran Turismo
- Next Gears Of Wars
- Next battlefield
Noice at least my base expectations were met, only thing that was a total let down is ram but maybe they are "balaced systems"If DF is saying the benchmarks they saw for XSX were very, very similar to stock RTX 2080, and they can eventually get a little over that, then I'd say the PS5 should be about a 1080ti, but with RTX. So something in between 2070 and 2070 Super, but a little more towards the latter.
Explain why PS5 is more powerful or ban.It is on Xbox own news site that it was running at 100 fps

To be fair, tf became less important, narratively speaking, when the x1x was announced as being more powerful than the ps4 pro.

X Series X is all like,
while the PlayStation 5 is all like,
Joking.
Fanboys and stuff you know. Meh, doesn't matter.
Yeah but ps5 with 10TF is just too much for a budget console like will be lockhart
Damn, this reveal really did burned some brain cells.First off I never said PS5 would be more powerful from day 1 I have said the XsX would have the power advantage though I thought they would be closer.
Don't make threats like that over this silly shit
Damn, this reveal really did burned some brain cells.
I said JOKING.
