I think only the time will tell us.
When you make is not like you cannot put your game to 4k 60 fps is your artistic decision so this also means
a game running 30 fps will looks better than a game in 60 in XSX I mean is logic.
And probably the only sacrifice Sony has to is reduce the resolution to 1920p .... in the same way some
the load in assets XSX will have to make sacrifices for some games but now against a delta much more bigger against PS5(SSD).

BCn is a data format like h264 for video compression, for example once you have set High Pass @L4.2 for example you will get the same result when you put in the same source media like a BluRay, this means that once the specification finalizes it is set and produces same result in same conditions unchanging by any software. Oodle Texture seems to be a wrapper for BCn (which is unchanging) so the improvements gained by this wrapper can be improved further and further but the it is still not in software, either BCn stream as original or wrapped inside RAD's Oodle Texture solution goes in and out of a LZ compressor that is a separate hardware. This must produce same result each time for the same condition or it would not work at all.

Genuine question that I'd like some input on, especially from those more tuned in on the Xbox side of things. Why is Microsoft so adamant about Smart Delivery when eventually the majority of development will shift exclusively to next gen? Won't smart delivery not really even be a thing a year or 2 from now?
I genuinely think that people are only saying this because the console looks so futuristic. I would be shocked if any of these consoles cost more than $499.

I think they care a lot about 60. Halo went 60 FPS on the base Xbox one back in 2015. Gears 5 went to 60 for
MP, and SP as well on the X. Horizon 4 has a 60 FPS mode on the X. Not every game will be 60, games like Hellblade will be 30 for sure, but MS definitely seems to have more of a focus on 60 FPS than Sony, no doubt due to how MS has had a lot more of a MP focus

Microsoft talks alot and rarely follows through so thts not saying much. As for Xbox being online focused this gen in terms of games thts not true at all. Sony had just as many games with online components. Uncharted vs Gears, Halo vs Killzone,two Forzas vs GT, Driveclub, etc. Microsoft big online push was in xbox36o days more so than now and even then it was about even. It's a bs narrative born from the fact tht Sony's bread and butter have been campaign focused games but thy almost all had online as well.

What big online game thy had this gen? Please don't say Gears? Ppl still play it but those games came and went. People still play Uncharted 4 too and tlou remastered, etc.. There online focus has been lore on talking about the cloud and streaming things Sony already does. The biggest online games have been ftp like fortnite, warzone, Apex.
It MUST be. Because MS executive said that they were going to focus on AA games, NOT AAA or the mythical unicorn of the AAAA game.

Lol. Ok, this isn't quite as hilarious as believing MS will release one triple-A game per month, but it's close. You do realize that Microsoft cannot dictate to all developers and publishers what their games will support, right? Especially multi-platform games.
Also, if they do this they will just end up with games on other platforms that look better because on the other platforms they will drop down games that don't NEED 60fps in favor of more graphic detail and effects, so MS would be left with the worse looking versions of those games. I don't think they want that.
Bottom line, both the Xbox and PS5 will have games at 60fps and 30fps. Games with and without ray tracing. The idea that there could be some huge difference when the two machines have a much smaller power differential than the PS4 and Xbox One had, is just silly. You needed Digital Foundry blowing up and comparing screenshots to tell the difference between PS4 and Xbox One, which was ridiculous and that was with about 40% more power to the PS4 side. With far less than that...you think there's going to be any difference you can tell? Possible, sure, but not too damn likely!
If anything, the only noticeable difference may turn out to be loading times and the general responsiveness of the systems. But we'll have to see.

To be honest, I'm getting a PS5 but I ABSOLUTELY am excited to see more from Microsoft as well. I really want to see more of what both systems can do and any information to that effect is good information leading up to the release of the consoles. Plus, I appreciate cool graphics and good games, regardless of what platform they're running on. Even if it's on a phone! So yep, I'm waiting for ALL these events and announcements and I'm eager to see whatever can be shown!

It's to help ANY texture streaming,regardless of quality. BUT, you combine this with virtual texturing like in Nanite, then 8K textures can potentially stream in even FASTER than what was shown in Lumen in the Land of Nanite.
Meanwhile I spend nearly 2 hrs in the morning trying to fix Blue screen of death on my Windows pc after one of Microsoft's (minor) updates.I and most of us have been saying it just like dx12 Sony always comes out with a response that is similar or better in API or features. I mean at the moment xsex has no 1st party exclusives - it runs Xb1 games at 4k/60 so in that sense every game on xsex is 4k/60. But that's to be expected - I mean it's running "last gen" games.
The Hellblade trailer was 24fps and sub 4k (and that was on a PC, not xsex).
Then xb1 and xb1x of course run below that when necessary.
3rd parties will run at whatever they run at. AC was already announced as 30fps on xsex wasn't it?

2 reasons I think.
1. They'll announce Lockhart so in 2 years there is still that console to take into account.

I think Microsoft needs to go big on July. I mean, we had a pretty good event from Sony, and yes I know some people were a little underwhelmed but as with everything you can never satisfy everyone. So my point is, if Microsoft does not put an event at the same level as Playstation did, Sony can sandwich them between 2 potentially huge events which could put them in a bad place. Honestly that's why I'm excited to see what they bring to the table, I can see them go with everything this time.

I personally think that they're gonna do good in terms of number of games and probably quality of them too, they certainly know this is an area that has killed them this generation. What I'm not so sure about is if they're going to be able to have a sizable amount of those games ready for the first or first couple of years of the Series X's life. And I think that is crucial for them, they need to start as strong as they can. They cannot afford to just come out the first year after launch with just Halo and Forza, or something like that. Mainly because they don't really have nothing going on for them on Xbox One, when talking about first party. And on the other side, Sony is finishing strong with The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima this current generation while already announcing some big guns for the next.
So, they need big announcements, and they need those games to come out as early as possible.

I've told here before how can one company have advantage in software for same applications if they don't have dedicated HW for that application? Any company/programmer can develop same or better app that works on theyr products eventualy all it comes down is to coding skills and how it runs on HW.
Now we see great example with MS toutet BCpack and what's funny that it wasn't sony who made BCpack equvalent compression, what's more funny that sony have way better LZ HW for that then MS which makes theyr BC compression way better then BCpack it's kind a ironic that BC compression now have become more advantagious for sony then ms.

it was discussed multiple times in this thread. He said that these type of “shorter games” is what fits perfectly in between their bigger AAA releases. So please stop spreading FUD suggesting that MS studios are not working on AAA games.

They already said, that there are no differences in hardware besides the disc drive. No reason for a cheaper price. Atleast not a difference like 50 €/$.
It will be sold at cheaper price not because of the missing disc drive. But because the only way to purchase games is digitally which are more expensive and have higher profit margins. There is none of shipping and physical product production costs. It can be sold cheaper and the game software sales cover the rest. Its will be 399 and 499

499 for the disc-version is a realistic price, but there's absolutely NO way the digital edition will cost the same - even if 1yr PS Plus is included. Especially because the black friday takes place before the PS5 release and PS Plus is sold again for 44.99 anyway. There would be absolutely no reason to buy the digital edition then.
I consider it very likely that the DE will cost $ 100 less. Apart from the lack of a drive, the PS Store compulsion (+ no pissibilities to buy used games) gives Sony some decisive advantages to get more money from DE buyers.

50$ difference is already a big(ger) loss for Sony. I expect the same price for both with some extra on the discless (free game, ps+ subscription, whatever). They will likely be selling both models at a loss, giving something extra on the discless instead of lowering the price will minimize the loss considerably.
I'm all for the digital version, I haven't touched a game disc in 5 years, I don't own a single bluray movie and the disc drive of my launch ps4 has only given me trouble (first was the eject button, then the drive itself).

They have already confirmed 3rd Party stuff won't be, the choice is up to developers. For first party, I'd expect a lot of the titles to at least offer a 60fps+ mode. Partly because of the cross generation commitments and partly because they see it as a key metric for their games. Sony will likely continue to offer a lot of single player story driven titles at 30fps, perhaps with 60fps options (Demon's Souls for example). Anything heavily online with a competitive focus will focus on higher frame rates from both though.
I'd like to see MS switch up the format a little too, circumstance dictates that stuff can't be the usual E3 presentation and I really liked what Sony did for the PS5. Less awkward chatty bits with execs and developers, more footage and game trailers please. It's going to be interesting to see what they show and the further responses from Sony in the build up to release.
