I think performance level in the end will be similar on both consoles and PS5 thanks to higher clock will probably negate such small 17% TF difference. GPU design however is clearly not the same, because 16 CUs difference is really big. I find it hard to believe 52 CUs GPU will end up with the same amount or ROPs as much smaller 36 CUs GPU (RDNA1 GPUs on PC shows a clear patern of ROPs scalability with higher number of CUs). It's also hard to believe PS5 GPU dont have HW and VRS support like leaks suggest, because all RDNA2 GPUs should share these technologies. In fact PS5 games shows RT already (theres no way any game would run at 4K with RT without HW for it), so these leaks mentioning no HW RT in PS5 werent correct for sure.
The reality is, we still dont now important details in regards to XSX / PS5 GPUs, so detailed comparisons between these two GPUs are flawed. If I would make such disingenuous comparison based on leaks data you PS guys would hunt me and want my blood

, definitely true that outside of the engineers and developers nobody really knows the intricacies of each unit and how they stack up. We'll have to wait to see side-by-side comparisons.Personally, I hope that they are within spitting distance of each other. At least when just looking at the screen, I'm not really concerned with the freezeframe and zoom situation.

Looking at it though I struggle to believe that’s correct - it doesn’t look that good in demos. Maybe it’s just the video source.

Funny thing is that I hear from people that third-party games will run at higher resolutions (wut?) on the Series X due to the 1.87 TFLOPs difference, but then you find out if both consoles have the same amount of ROPS, PS5's pixel fill rate is gonna be higher due to it's clock speed. But nowadays, it's texture fill rate that's more important than pixel fill rate imo.

Shenanigans. I've never heard of pre-orders being flung out on such short notice. We still have no definitive idea of all features, the UI, confirmed launch titles, etc.
I would be absolutely shocked if they did something like this. Additionally, though I've been gone from GameStop for a long time, my old boss is still sloggin' along. He hasn't heard anything at all.
Doesn't disprove it, but we usually knew in advance.

What short notice? They’ve been talking about the PS5 for ages.
Preorders for the PS4 were right after the E3 price drop. Once a price is known, a big retailer like Amazon can take pre-orders. They know they’ll have stock and they can estimate it conservatively.
I don’t know if we will get a price tomorrow, but the day we do, it’s almost certain that we will be able to preorder

MS have much more power and money to buy WB Games than EA, Take Two and Activision.
I belive the franchises would be better in their hands too (compared to the other companies). The problem is Gamepass that don't allow for now the development of various simultaneous higher budget AAA games, and MS would buy studios that specializes in AAA, but they can handle this I think.
Let's wait and see, I belive MS will win this war. For they is good chance to stand against Sony Marvel games like SpiderMan and IronMan, and have great franchises like Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings.

That the PS5 during it's development has gotten some new goodies that weren't on the AMD roadmap before but now can become an AMD feature in the future it could mean some of those things can turn up in RDNA3 and/or Zen3.
