A price of 449 for the DE would be a okay if you consider that you get the real next gen console just without disc drive.
But the disc version shouldn't be more expensive than the XSX. Not with the "more powerful" on the paper (most people will believe that).

If Sony waited this long just to announce a console that is more expensive then that would be stupid especially with “more powerful” on the paper as you said.

It should be the same price for the standard or Sony fucked up. Of course in no business way they can match the S so a 100$ difference is totally fine because you are getting the same console just without the disc.

Also the casual market buying this aren’t neogaf members. What they’ll hear is “Next gen console for 299$? What a deal” Which is exactly how Microsoft is advertising this.

So basically what we have ben saying for long time :
299 xsx
399 PS5 DE
499 ps5 and XSX

If Sony wants to go higher than that, they are counting on heavy fanbase and lineup.

One word: xCloud.

Not sure many would be bothered about that but I see Gold is included so there is that. Would still be a waste to most buyers and cost £11/pm.

All adds up though:

£249
£11/pm or ~£130/yr
SSD cartridge 1TB £100+

Plus no used/shared games and stuck with Xbox store. The same things will apply to the PS5DE too.

Xbox All Access is how they want you to buy Series S... $25 a month for 2 years with Game Pass Ultimate.

I get it but I can't see a huge amount of people going for this in the EU/UK. I would love to know what the figures are in the UK/EU for All Access (or total SAD console sales) since they launched.

Xbox revealing Series S after leak in night is perfect backslash for having us waiting so much.

MS confirmed 299$ price for Series S, but part of the leak was also price for XSX - 499$
Both releasing 10 november.
Thats very good offensive pricing.

Now Sony do someting.
I believe it was a controlled leak. Too much material immediately available to too many people, and Microsoft immediately caves in and confirms everything without even attempting to contain the leak.

After tonight I don't think Microsoft is planning another full event at all, because they don't have much left to show in terms of game announcements and gameplay. By announcing XSS like this they won't have as much pressure from people asking them to immediately follow up the announcement with a release date, gameplay recorded on the console, further technical details etc. And they can remain a bit more ambiguous on the final price for a little more still.

At any rate, if Sony was just waiting for Microsoft to make their move, now they can respond immediately with all the missing info on PS5. Which would probably mean digital event/State of Play next week.

If Sony still keeps on waiting past September, then behind the curtains they have some kind of issue of their own (distribution, games are not ready, ideal price for them is too high to just throw it out etc.).

So this should mean, that they will stop the production of the Xbox One S in the next few days or will they keep it as a lowest entry point for the Xbox Ecosystem (maybe selling it for 150€)?

This.

Apart from some announcement on Gamepass I don’t think they’ve got anything else show worthy.

To be honest, we know almost everything about XSX at the moment. So youre right there is no much material for an event.

On PS5 side
1)teardown
2) UI, fas launching games
3) more games or showing of already announced tittles
4) price and availability

So there is material for one show and maybe one state of play and one blog.

But i want them to post teardown on blog and make full blown launch event.

It's kind of ironic how the hype for 3000 pages was building for playstation news, and instead xbox news happened.

now, about the news...
series X is the most powerful console, every game will play there best, starting from COD and CYBERPUNK. 499 probably is the best anyone could have asked.
series S is a 100% next gen console with the same cpu power, ssd speed, and an rdna2 gpu that aims for less than 4k resolutions. and 299 is a price point from the past.

I read many times "what's the point of a 1440p machine if tv's not support it?"
series S will automatically downsample everything to your 1080p tv just like xbox X does.
it will also upscale to 4k if/when you upgrade your panel. you know, like ps4pro, but next-gen.

financing these consoles $25-$35/month with game pass sure seems a great option, especially for those that the pandemic has affected financially

on another note
I assume there are loads of duplicate assets in that game.
I just checked and COD on my X -with high res textures and all that- is 100.6GB
How much is it on pro? What 240GB?

I'm shocked that people are saying this is just a battle between 4k and 1440p machines. It can't be just that simple and it isn't.

PS Now, what is the create button, remote play (if any?), etc etc.

You know, I can actually see Sony pricing incredibly aggressively now. They have the profit margins and market share to do it if they want. Take the financial hit to secure the generation out of the gate. That huge profit in Q1 could come into play.

Ps5 at $449 and DE at $349.
