I can't believe neither got banned.
This is a 1/2 truth. Xbox has a team dedicated to BC. Often times BC can help with load times. But unless somebody does something to improve it, BC on better console hardware doesn't do anything. There's a ton of just straight emulation too.
Working on any of these games in any form costs money and having the legal right.

Perfectly understandable, he probably didn't want to spend the rest of his life making Gears franchise. Gears is being run into the the ground just like COD and other seminal franchises.

I was thinking what if Sony go for a new form of marketing where they trickle out specs before a big reveal in June.
For example they release a article or video explaining each but of new tech in the PS5.
So let's say in February we get Backwards Compatibility information, how boost mode works, example of a patched game like Control that uses Ray Tracing on PS5. 4K60FPS Monster Hunter. Showing 3 different versions of backwards compatibility, original, boost and patched.
Then in early March they talk about CPU upgrade and what that means for games and how they can be improved.
Then end of March they talk about HD Audio and what that means sound design.
Then in April they talk about GPU and finally reveal the flop count.
Then in May they talk about storage and memory, SSD, RAM, UHD Drive and how that affects game design. Examples of loading games etc.
Finally in June a week or 2 after E3 Sony fully unveil the PS5, the look of the system and controller. Launch lineup and price.
This way Sony gets multiple headlines, and they can focus on each but of specs so casual laymen get a insight without being overwhelmed on why the tech is better.

True lol you might be true . I feel ms will have slight advatage in tf but not 9 vs 12 . We both know if ms knew it was 9 vs 12 their marketing and pr would be different . Even 2 days ago phil said gpu jump doesnt matter much and is not as important , next gen is about fps and cpu. But it came across my Twitter.
Why would MS do that and show their cards completely? Sony isn’t either ... it’s better to keep humble at some things ..
But a binned approach makes much more sense for MS as they have more platforms of use.
This approach would fit perfectly with how MS runs their business and the markets they operate. (B2B, cloud, consumer, hardware etc..)
And we as games would benefit of a powerful design.
And reduce cost for MS.

That could be cause their dev kits are not as mature as sony .but ms pr is the weird part here.
Imagine ms having 3 tf advatage on gpu yet you say "most powerful console we made " and past week , 2 people from xbox , phil and someone else , they downplayed the importance of gpu and praise cpu. I get that thats correct somewhat but if u had a 3tf power advantage you would try to make a big deal out of it and not down play it.

Thats not how ms roles and we both know . A year and half in davance they started saying it about x1x even before ps4 pro was annouced . "Most powerful console ever".they both know each other specs by now from 3rd parties with target specs .

Interesting. It seem like Microsoft will do everything to win the power war this gen. But is it gonna be worth it? We will see.
Personally I think devs didn’t know, why would they? If you told them we target 10 TF it would be enough to create amazing launch game’s ...
But in reality it is 12, so devs now have a bit more room..
But I admit, that would be the strategy I would use .

If confirmed I will buy the Xbox and already in the future the PS5 PRO. A 2-3TFLOPS difference is an important difference. But I don't think this happens. Although this new Sony gives me less and less confidence.

Problem with that is those devs who praised PS5 over Xbox were either making exclusives games for PS5 or had issue with Microsoft in the past. Other devs who were neutral said both consoles were looking good.

So of course I would expect PS5 machines to be further ahead and of course working better. Why wouldn’t they? I would be worried if they wasn’t. But everything coming out suggests that the PS5 kits are very far along, and the SX still... isn’t. Also note that depending on your studio, you may not be getting the final, or even latest, dev kits.
So what does it all mean? The reports all coming out make sense. But don’t read too much into them, as usual.

Soon is a relative word. It can mean "in one day" if pronounced by one guy, it can mean "one year" according to another guy.
So, yeah, soon is correct, but it's not literally soon, like just few days or few weeks. I expect them to announce something around May or around E3, after Microsoft makes the first move.

Think this is a good point to bear in mind for all information. Everyone has their preferences and biases. Posters, trolls, insiders and their sources. All the information we get is tempered with a variety of bias.

The PS5 3D audio chip is going to be apart of the APU. Will be interesting to know how much die space this will take and what cost.
Maybe Sony decided to have this on their die instead of extra Cus compared to Microsoft.

I expect the circle of trust to be tiny in comparison to the past. Substitute PC hardware in devkits and virtualising hardware allows Microsoft and Sony to abstract the actual hardware until they are ready to reveal.
The only question for me is: Are middleware developers and all first party developers in the circle, yet? On Sony’s side of things - by the way they are dialling back from traditional marketing channels - I would say the answer is no.

I looked up a recent history of his articles for Forbes. Not one article where he isn’t showing an Xbox bias. It doesn’t mean he’s wrong, but it certainly raises red flags. Point in fact, actually, I could not easily find an article about PS5 outside of one on the controller mock-up the other day someone did. Just articles on why to not count out Xbox this gen or how MS has the edge on Sony.

I for one am looking forward to what Sony's 3D audio is capable of, couldn't guess how much space it's going to take up though. On Durango diagrams the Xbox One's sound block didn't seem to take up much space, but 3D audio might be an entirely different beast of accommodation. The SHAPE processor was one of the rare bright points you could praise the Xbox One over. The One's audio was always phenomenal, audiophile quality really no matter what it was playing.
I expect 3D audio to top this.

I tried to look up 3D audio chips or DACs but couldn't find anything. I'm interested to see what its all about, and wonder if it's an expensive addition. I mean, even 20 or 30 Dollars is expensive in console terms.
