They should come out and come clean and just say plainly how everything works.
I was reading a certain book on SSD technology for like the 3rd time now because I love computer engineering and after passing a certain point I remembered something about nvme drives that made something click in my mind. If you guys didn't know, certain nvme drives on pc like the pro and evo series from Samsung have had a small soldered in chipset containing 4 or more ARM Cortex A series low power cpu cores (from the A 50 series like the A55 and A57) that in the case of Samsung are slightly customised and repurposed for handling certain storage I/O operations as well take some compression/decompression load off the cpu to free some of its resources for other things. Not all nvme ssds have these chipsets though (only those from certain brands do). And it made me wonder. Is that the reason why Microsoft chose to use a single decompression block on the Series X? I mean they've basically been trying to cater to the pc community since 2016 when they started bringing their games to the Pc platform while attempting to unify pc and xbox as one platform. Since the pc already has nvme gen 4 drives with speeds faster than those of the ssd in the Series X. There's one that i have in my build, the Aorus gen 4 nvme ssd from Gigabyte which manages 5.5GB/s and 4.5GB/s in read and write speeds respectively. Could it be that Microsoft chose to use an ssd with speeds of 2.4 GB/s raw and 4.8GB/s compressed to match the speeds already available on pc in order to make games easier to port? It might sound a little outrageous, but if you think about it for quite a bit, it really starts to make sense. I don't know guys, that's just my two cents based on stuff I've already read, publicly available information as well as my own knowledge. What do you guys think? I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
The fallout from this is amazing. The way Epic games have been so dodgy on details is ridiculous. A third party free game engine for that matter. Its truly embarrassing.
Even their engineers are enjoying the wild theories.
They should come out and come clean and just say plainly how everything works.
Cerny presenting the PS5 pro:
-Guys we did it!
-Oh not what you did now?
-We reach 4.6 Ghz in our new GPU and now our SSD reach 11 GB/s in raw bandwidth using a similar cooling solution than the used
in the nuclear reactors in Japan
-What?
In other side Andrew Goossen/Phil Spencer with XSX^2:
-We put 55 WGP in our console
-Why do you repeat the meme of the refrigerator behind of you ?
-What meme? that is the console also we create the Hipervelocity Architecture with a bandwidth of 6 GB/s with instant access to 200 GB
-What ?
I don't get it. Are these idiots watching a bunch of Chinese people playing the VIDEO of the demo on a laptop and mistaking it to be the actual DEMO ITSELF running on the laptop?
The proper question would be 'can you run this demo in other platforms as is, without any changes?'.The interviews asked Tim sweeney can this demo run on 2070 super with nvme and he said yes it can . But if question was can this demo run on iPhone 11 the answer would have been still yes it can. This a scalable engine and can and will run on everything .
That's the equivalent of saying.... The closest grocery store is 100 miles away. I couldn't simply walk the distance. The powerful engine of the Lamborghini allowed me to drive to the store and back to buy everything I need before sundown.Interesting that people are arguing over whether that technical demo relied on the PS5's I/O capabilities and whether that technical demo was achievable on other hardware such as the Series X or PC.
Here is a quote from Engineering VP of EpicGames Nick Penwarden which gives everything away.
"Nanite allowed the artists to build a scene with geometric complexity that would have been impossible before, there are tens of billions of triangles in that scene and we couldn't simply have them all in memory at once and what we end up needing to do is streaming in triangles as the camera moves around the environment and the I/O capabilities of the PS5 are what allow us to achieve that level of realism."
To all the idiots:
Of course there would need to be changes. You can't put gas in an electric or diesel car and expect it to run.The proper question would be 'can you run this demo in other platforms as is, without any changes?'.
Awkward times for Dictator and the rest of tars who has been pushing this PS5/Demo/Laptop BS

Notice how he's not denying the marketing deal. He's saying there is no secret deal everything they worked on together is public.
So the UE5 reveal was not marketing?Oh come on. There is no marketing deal, there was collaboration, and that happened in the public eye. People were speculating Sony paid them or made a deal to make their games exclusive to Epic store.
Just cut it out. It’s over, let’s move on from that idea.

So the UE5 reveal was not marketing?
It's likely a bit higher. The demo was running at 30 fps due to vsync, but likely could put out a higher framerate. That percentage you gave is basically the same range as the 5700XT. I expect RDNA2 to be a bit more performing than that.Folks PS5 Performance is 10%-15% higher than RX 5700
Folks PS5 Performance is 10%-15% higher than RX 5700
Ok. Yeah. You're right. Obviously it doesn't work like that in reality. You don't deliberately pay someone to shut up about the competition, although in practice it kind of turns out that way. It’s marketing for Unreal 5, and because it’s running on the PS5 it’s marketing for the console too sure.
But there’s no money hat here that stops Tim from talking about the XSX. He said it plainly, they didn’t have the demo up and running on the XSX, but the tech is targeting next consoles and high end pc. But because he wouldn’t go on and say “Yeah the XSX runs the demo just as well or better”, a certain crowd came up with the idea that Sony paid Epic to keep their mouths shut...

What kind of bullshit answer is too early to know? You got a console that is not even out and your showcasing unreal 5.0, but working on PC's for fuck ton of years??!!!

What's so hard to understand? There is no compatible hardware that can provide same results with what's available in the market, even high-end PCIe 4.0. By late 2021, maybe something new comes to the market when UE5 gets released, so better wait as nothing is worth wasting money for that purpose at the moment.
Heck, we might even see a new app for small movie making studios dedicated for PS5 with such a futuristic architecture.
Damn i leave for 2 months and this site still lusting about SSDs also why this thread still alive ?

Yes, NVIDIA, AMD, Microsoft and even Apple agree to what you have just said. Wait until something comparable comes along that matches that tech demo at 1440p/30fps

You can blame AMD drivers for thatIt's way, way more complicated in that matter. If you use RX 5700 with that same demo the PC will simply snap and give you this:

By the way, I miss you man! Welcome back!![]()

Damn, did I miss a demo? Have been feeling like shit and not keeping up like usualYes, the MIGHTY RTX 8000 has been struggling yesterday with their latest tech demo with stutter/resolution drop/shitty VRS with below 30fps most of the time with downgraded aspect ratio from 16:9 to 23.9:1 for semi-4K. Brute-forcing can't solve everything.
But wouldn't developers have a development kit by now, I just can't see how there wouldn't be I'm Major league by now from some developer confirming the existence of an Xbox series s, I mean how could it exist and be in the hands of developers right now and not leak?
You can blame AMD drivers for that

By the way, they might require 64-128GB DDR4 RAM to try and replicate that without the need of such speedy SSD.

Right.

doesn't Seres X HAVE 64 ROPS as well? I'm pretty sure a few people have already confirmed this.
where did you get ROPs specs ?

Are you trying to compare Hollywood studios with gaming PC's?BGs told us that their company has two massive PC's, one is 75TF and I think one is 45TF. How about you pay $50,000 USD or more to beat a $500 USD console? Sounds smart.
