PC Game Pass added 137 games worth $4,800 in 2024 BEST DEAL IN GAMING

No matter your personal opinions on gaming subscription services, there’s no escaping the fact that Game Pass represents some pretty amazing value. While there’s no guarantee that any of your favorite games in the library will hang around forever, you’re still getting access to heaps of titles, day-one additions, and extra bonuses and perks, too, depending on which tier you’re on. To see exactly how last year’s lineup of new Game Pass games stacked up, I’ve crunched the numbers on everything added to PC Game Pass in 2024, which was a collection of 137 games with a value of just over $4,800.

Having had my head buried in all of this year’s Game Pass announcement posts and spreadsheets for most of this week, I’ve collated all of the new Game Pass games that PC players had access to last year. If you were to take their US Microsoft Store price at the time each game was added to PC Game Pass, the total value of 2024’s lineup would be $4,812.63 USD.

I’m afraid I couldn’t find the time to do exact storefront totals for other currencies, but converting that amount with today’s exchange rates will give you figures of around £3,924 / €4,670 / $6,924 CAN / $7,769 AUD.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Renting instead of buying is rarely a deal my friend.
Nah it's great. It allowed me to play stuff on release that otherwise I would have passed on or waited for a deep discount. It's a nice deal.

I unsuscribed until MS takes a few steps back with the DEI shit tho.

I accept this rebuke.

However, I was only pointing out that you did not get $4,800 worth of games, rather, you purchased a window in which you may access those games, after which the games and your money will then be gone, leaving you with only the memories of the games you played.

This is true but how many people really go back and replay games? Can't be that many. I barely ever replay games and I play daily. There's about 5 games I'll go back and replay. Either way sub services like this aren't for me because I like to decide what I play next and the game I want to play next is almost never on a sub service. So I'd rather just buy the game I want to play next instead of playing something just because it's on a sub service and I kind of want to play it. Even if I'll probably never touch that game again after beating it.

Absolutely true. In the end, users should consider if they are playing enough games on GP to justify what they are paying, and factor in the fact that those games aren't theirs and a replay in the future might be impossible unless they buy the game.

It's a glorified game rental system. But hey, it's not bad at all imo, lots of games on offer and even day 1 games.

This is true but how many people really go back and replay games? Can't be that many.
I replay lots of games, specially my favorite ones. Lots of games are one and done, sure, but others are very fun on a replay specially if they are focused on gameplay instead of narrative or story or whatever.

How is this any different from having a giant backlog of games you'll never finish, or never going back to the vast majority of games you have finished, because there's always something new demanding what time and attention you do have free?
If people actually behaved like "owning" the experience is a necessity, movie theaters would be empty and streaming services wouldn't exist.

Bruh, you probably got games in your library you haven’t touched in years and probably never will again. The difference is, yours take up space too, whether it’s digital or physical. Some of us don’t stress over a stack of obsolete discs and chips cluttering our crib, or a Steam library that’s gonna disappear when Steam does, or when we kick the bucket, whichever comes first. Like owning all that somehow makes you immortal or something. Gosh.

Well... Isn't it the most important ?

A lot of us sold our old games for some reasons, and we still have fond memories of them. FFVII is my fav game ever but I hardly replay the OG PS1 version on the PS1 hardware, I rather replay it on a modern console (Xbox, PS, etc).

I grew up in a poor family and many of my games were rented or I bought 1 used game, finished it, exchange it for another, and again and again, I made most of my video game culture like this. And trust me I've a pretty descent gaming culture, we're talking about hundreds of games.

That "owning" thing doesn't mean anything. How many retards (hate them) do we see on X buying 5/10/20 new Switch games weekly, just to shelve them and never play them ? Sure it's a "passion", and "collection", but games are meant to be played. Those retards are not gamers, they're shelvers.

And with gamepass, do you have games to play ? Do you have many experiences to get ? Yes, you do... I'm not a fan of GP and it's not even the question but it's dishonest to not accept the fact that gamepass is a great way to access to many games, of all kinds, for a cheap price.

And trust me, people playing, completing, games on gamepass, they develop WAY MORE gaming memories than "shelvers"...

Sure and I'm positive if we want over all the gamers in the world there would be millions of people just like you. I just think when it comes to all gamers world wide that this isn't the norm. Hell don't we have stats that most gamers don't even finish their games? So forget about trying to get them to replay it.

Hey I got the sports channels on my cable subscription.

This is the same as if I bought ALL THE SEATS IN ALL THE STADUIMS WHERE GAMES FOR ANY SPORT that are broadcasted, alongside the plane tickets and hotel stays I would need to view them (forget it if I invite friends over to watch a game with me)!

Only GamePass influencers are stupid enough to see things this way.

I have not been able to finish Wipeout HD yet, got it for the PS3, played it on PS4... then on PS5.

Good games are not disposable.

The shills have been given their new directive huh?
They do these kinds of tallies on cost of games per sub every year for PS+ and GP. Nothing about it is new.

All the time for me. If the game is great, I'll be revisiting it. I still revisit games from 8 bit era. Not that "regular consumer" is doing this, but for me it does not work or only has specific application/use.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

As is the same with literally any non physical game purchased that can't be played offline

how does Microsoft make any money by giving away $4800 worth of stuff for $200 a year or whatever?
It's slightly similar to Groupon. Let's say they're taking in $400 million a month from subs. They can pay out $1 million for a small game on GP. That dev may not have made 1 million on their own. They're giving out 20 million copies so in a sense the value is way more than 1 million, but both MS and the dev are actually coming out ahead and the dev is also getting exposure with 20 million new potential customers without actually losing copies they wouldn't have sold anyway.

Still stupid, and nobody is stupid enough to create a thread about it (hopefully).

I mean, I have over 250 games on Epic that I got for free... what's the point of going over and count the value?

I have Game pass for a good while but it's not any more valuable than PlayStation Network to me. I have a longer term left on my game pass as well versus PSN which expires this year.

And when you keep posting best deal in gaming or something it reads like your advertising. Just let the fucking service do it's talking without having to repeat the talking points.

"Your mileage may vary"

I completed three games. Indiana Jones and GC, Hellblade 2 and Toem (cute indie game).

Indiana Jones was great. Toem is a perfect little Game Pass game. Hellblade 2 was meh. Also played a lot of Power Wash which is a fun time waster.

I've tried a dozen or so other games for Rewards points and such but none of them really grabbed me.

I guess I got about $200 worth out of Game Pass last year. Of course, I didn't pay cash, just Rewards points. As long as I can do that, it will be worth it for me.

Woah, how?

I’d also say epic games store, gog, with Prime gaming is the best value.

Speaking of which, get Subnautica on those asap!

You can find game on keysites for a buck or two on a daily basis. gg.deals...

gg.deals is my new fav site. got helldivers 1 under $2, new super luckys tale under $2, shantae pirate curse under $2, etc. I spend about $4 on games a day now on that site, ha!

I need to stop. MAKE IT STOP!!!
