This is the way. No work here but I have two setups. Built a separate couch PC early this year and it was among the best things I’ve done for myself in this hobby. Boots into Steam big picture mode. Only use controller. Perfection.
Then I play first person games on the desktop PC with mouse for the precision, and some strategy games,

I started playing on PC back in 1997. Before that I had some Chinese NES and Atari clones I played on my TV a lot so it's kinda nostalgic to me. Few years ago I decided to grab a drill and hardwire my PC to my 4k TV downstairs for gaming. I almost never play this way. Even when I'm using controller (Steam says I'm 50/50 when it comes to controller/keyboard use, thanks Elden Ring DLC I prefer to do it at my desk. I'm not sure why, I'm waaaay more immersed in the game while playing on my monitor.

I have my gaming PC hooked up permanently in my living room. I haven't used a desk for PC gaming in years. The first TV I ever hooked my gaming PC up to was a 50 inch Panasonic Plama TV. Nowadays I am using a 65 inch LG OLED. I will never go back to playing at a desk again.

I set everything up to very easily switch between desk and TV, but I tend to compartmentalize types of games so I don't have to very often. My PC mostly gets used for FPS and RTS games, but it still gets switched over for the random graphically demanding single-player adventure or emulated title.

I decided to grab It Takes Two on sale for Xbox instead of Steam for the same price in the recent sale...because it's a game I'd definitely want to toss out some controllers and just play, not be fumbling about switching PC displays every time I want to launch it, although my PC is graphically stronger than a Series S in this case I didn't care.

For PC gaming I used an Xbox controller, which also has a shortcut programmed into it which with one press will flick the image either to the big OLED display in the living room or to the 27" monitor at the desk in the corner. The tower is under the desk but I have it plumbed into the telly via a 15m HDMI cable. Works great.

Have my secondary itx with a 4060 that boots into steam big picture mode plugged into the TV. I tend to use it more than my main desktop. It works pretty much like a console because of steam and an Xbox controller. I use an app called Unified Remote that lets me use my phone as a mouse and keyboard over WiFi. Hard to beat chilling on the couch and PC gaming.

I like a bit of both. Games like Uncharted or Nier is definitely couch and something that requires mouse precision like FPS games I go for PC.

Similar to others I have mine set up to a desk but run a long optical HDMI from the office to my big living room TV.

I actually switch between the two manually (unplug the monitor hdmi and plug in the tv one when I want to switch) none of my HDMI splitters or switches seemed to work.

Also have a very long USB cable with hub i drag out of the office.


I like having the option as my Mrs likes to take the TV on an evening for shows etc.

I don't think moonlight is quite up to standard yet. But it's very close.

Still blows my mind how MS does not have a Big Picture mode for their Xbox app. Idiots…

I have 2 PCs, one in my office and another in the living room, connected to an OLED TV.
I play most of the games in the living room, the office PC is for games that require the use of a keyboard and mouse, such as The Witcher 1.

Both but depends on the game. I definitely play more on a desk overall just simply because of the type of games I play on PC versus consoles. Most of the games I want to play on a tv I end up buying on my PS5 Pro or Switch.

I have a ITX build in a Fractal Terra case and my desk setup is in the main room with the couch/tv so I simply disconnect a couple cables and move it over to the side of the tv stand. I keep a C7/C13/HDMI 2.1 cable routed to the side and hidden so I can just connect it anytime I want.

Best of both worlds. 1440p/240hz 27" OLED for mouse and keyboard desk stuff, and LG C2 OLED for controller tv stuff.

I did both throughout the years.

When I was in an apartment and we got our first baby, my computer room became the baby room. I did an SFFPC build and used it like console for years.

Then we bought a house and covid came, I rebuilt a whole office for work at home and also gaming.

I have a superb Humanscale freedom chair, a monster headset + DAC/AMP of high quality, ultrawide 120Hz Gsync monitor. Very hard to bother going back to the TV.
