PlayStation 5 Pro | First Previews Are Up

PS4 pro and especially Xbox one x was a massive improvement over the original Xbox one and PS4 since most of the TV's were 4k and the consoles werent they actually server a purpose.
This I just don't understand, I know it's an enthusiast product but it still doesn't make sense to me.
Oh look raytracing in f1 2024 and gt 7 does that warrant a new console?
I don't think so
You keep the much better IQ of Quality Mode and better or equal performance than Performance Mode. Or are we going to start pretending like there was no difference between Quality and Performance?

Only thing I really would have liked the reviewers comment on that they haven't is the Db noise level comparison OG to Pro. PS4 pro often gets up to leaf blower levels.

Almost done with DF video, Oliver seems like he is completely shocked at how PSSR manage to resolve details better than Native res! Also the way it handled confetti in R&C with no distortion or breakup.
We are shocked they didn't notice it before based on the first games shown. They are truely incompetent. On the reveal they focused on the slight instability while completey ignoring the increase of details vs native 4K.
GG don't use PSSR and developed completely new tech that they will be using in future titles. I wonder what's the reason here, is they tech using ML hardware or not? If not, isn't this kinda stupid and worse than PSSR on fundamental level?
Probably not. They still haven't used any specific features on PS5. They likely want to keep full compatibility with PC and ease ports to PC.

And I loved Oliver's answer that they all looked good 👍 Destin is something else he's pushing pc hard in their other video it's quite shameful I could barely finish watching it

Watched the IGN talk with DF and well, got say it's starting to look more interesting.

However, that price tag without a disk drive is still driving me away. I'll resist being an early adopter this time around.

F1 2024 looks ridiculously good.

Just a head up, you need to set-up PayPal via the app/account or Playstation.
Whatever method is set-up there is what Playstation Direct uses.
This will give you the option for other features on PayPal if you want to switch to a different card or use your PayPal Credit Account.
That's the only way to choose PayPal as a payment method.

GENERATIONAL LEAP the DF guy said about GT7.. I must be blind...

B1kCBg6.png
So I see 2 things. 1. The dark car in the lower right is reflecting the bright green car. If this is gameplay that’s pretty rad. 2. The left rear fender of the green car looks slightly burry to me (but I might be imagining that).

It took me a few minutes to notice the reflection and in that time I noticed the blur. If I was playing the game and not inspecting a screenshot I think I’d probably just enjoy the reflections.

We are reaching a generational point of diminishing returns. Fake reflections do a good enough job. Also gamers that have been playing this crap for 20 years or so are used to the fake reflections.

Also different graphical effects affect us differently. I can smell lower res or blurry edges but it took a while to notice the bright green reflection. Others might notice the reflections right away.

The price and lack of disk drive have me waiting this out for now. Still fun and interesting to watch. I say bring on the PC port Sony.

I have PayPal as my default payment method on PlayStation, but it still does not show up in PS Direct.

Really? And its the same account as your Playstation?
I just deleted mine and redone it so I can split the payments.... at least that's how I set it up.
That's weird.

When you go to PS Direct and go to My Profile and then to Payments, do you see PayPal there?

How many times do I need to tell you that at the framerates the base PS5 was running it at, it was GPU limited?

What they've done is just utilised the extra GPU power that's available, it's not rocket science.

It was mostly cpu limited in towns and GPU limited outside:

They optimized game in patches since then. They probably have some serious optimization patch that will drop around Pro launch, no way in hell 10% better CPU clock gets framerate from 35 to 50.

You can't access it via PS Direct, you have to go via playstation store which it'll redirect you to and then it appears as the default on PSdirect

Xbox One X? Yes, a big improvement.

PS4 Pro? In most cases it had slightly better resolution and more stable frame rate. Only a handful of games doubled performance on the PS4 Pro.

Digital foundry can say what they like when they don't have access to information such as CPU/GPU utilisation on consoles (they can only guess).

Explain to me how it is that the increase in performance matches up almost perfectly with the results a 3700X CPU gets (which is the max it will get by the way, because here we are actually looking at a CPU bottleneck and how it scales across various CPU's) with a GPU superior to the base PS5? :

This bump is comparable to a lot of gpu upgrades people do. I bought one that was $230 two years back (got a screamin deal on it though.. was kinda shady but watev) and recently I upgraded to something for $350 that was roughly 50% more performance and double vram. It's not like my games look totally different and many wouldn't be able to tell. But subjectively, it was a fine deal and got my pc to were I wanted it. I sold the old one for $150, and I'll be able to ride this one for several years if I want.

Pro is not blowing that value out of the water the way we would like a console to do, but if and when I want more performance, I might be cross shopping a pro with gpu upgrades. Without the pro in the mix, I'd be spending the money on the gpu 100%.

It fucking breaks my heart to say this but horizon forbidden west looks absolutely bonkers.

Why is such amazing graphics on a game i detest.

Fuxk it all suck my foot!

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
From The Verge :
  • Dragon's Dogma II: PS5 Pro mode currently hitting 55–60fps VRR in the city, capped at 60fps outside, at PSSR-upscaled 4K resolution. Wouldn't discuss internal resolution.
This would be a smooth experience I’d assume then, with VRR.

Yeah....I have all that, but when I click Buy Consoles or Buy PS5 then it takes me to PS Direct and PayPal doesn't show up. Probably an issue with my account. No worries.
Curious have you ever purchased anything there via PayPal?

I see people saying the only way it saves is if you actually bought something with that method.

You can order something then cancel it right away and it then saves that payment method

So that doesn't appear, that doesn't make sense

I have only Xbox Series X, so I'm glad my console brothers have an option to get the PS5 PRO.

Was checking the disk drive prices on my end, it's already ranging from 150€ to 250€ Lol...

I can't wait to see the PS5 Pro price sky-rocketing when it's sold out.

Such a lousy job from Sony on this.

To me still not worth the money, I just can’t justify paying that much money just upgrade version of old system that doesn’t come basics feature you would expect from buying console.

I noticed that the Pro has the Vents from the original PS5 that the slim was missing 🤔
