There are still a lot of things we don't know.

No, we more or less know all the big details. The March presentation was aimed at developers; they would not withhold features of the system that would be useful for devs to know about, in a presentation aimed at the dev community.

I know people are still holding onto RDNA3 secret sauce or whatever, but realistically it's already near the middle of September and the system comes out this November. There is no benefit for them to have held back any features this late, even if AMD have yet to divulge certain features (that didn't seem to stop MS from doing a deep-dive in August, which is when they typically have done it anyway for the past several years. Sony tends to do theirs earlier, which is more or less what they did).

Like for instance, if cache scrubbers are seemingly an RDNA3 feature, then Sony already talked about that in March, because that would've been one of the features they brought to their design AMD then decided to spin into a future RDNA-based line/series. At most we'll see what are standardized RDNA2 features in October from AMD's presentation that will more or less let us know what things both systems have, and that'll be the last of specs we hear on either of them.

If there's any technical aspects Sony are waiting to speak up on, it'll be in regards to showing how variable frequency works, the cooling solution, and how they've assembled the system's components together. Showing off OS features, showing off how some things they mentioned like the audio, work in practice with the Pulse headset, etc. Don't expect any sudden "secret-sauce" reveals this late into the cycle; these guys want to focus on the games and getting the systems into public circulation.

I'd prefer it straight from SONY myself. Cerny for sure, I'd like to see Hulst w/ Shu as a guest, someone to go indepth on the UI. I really don't need a youtuber regurgitating speaking notes that would all be pre-vetted...you are not going to get any extra depth out of them.

Obviously have gameplay/feature breakdown on the main PS channel, but DF are the best at covering specs, and have been really positive about PS5.

I don't see why Sony wouldn't give them early access to cover PS5.

Well they aren't really "on team microsoft", and their coverage has been really positive so far.

They'll cover PS5 regardless, but it would be good of Sony to let them go all in on the hardware before launch.
I think they will, since they already had conversations with Mark Cerny before launch.

Yes i am aware of that video where Richard dismissed Cerny's explanation concerning PS5's variable clock feature as 'essentially an overclock' and seemed very sceptical of his answears. He also expressed an hefty amount of 'concerns' as usual. I am following DF for years and seeing a patern. Let's just agree to disagree.

The original Verge video was posted last September alongside an article titled "How to build a custom PC for gaming, editing, or coding." It featured Verge reporter Stefan Etienne assembling a PC by installing a CPU, graphics card, power supply, and other hardware into a tower-style case.

The video soon became an object of ridicule among seasoned PC builders. Prominent YouTubers posted reaction videos showing clips of Etienne's instructions interspersed with their own incredulous commentary.

Among other problems, critics argued Etienne wore an anti-static bracelet without attaching it to anything, did not put his graphics card and memory chips in the best slots, and put way too much thermal paste on his CPU.

Etienne also appeared to install his power supply backward, with the fans pressed against the side of the case. That blocks airflow and creates a danger of the power supply overheating. And hilariously, Etienne told viewers to make sure that the power supply was resting on "these little insulating pads so the power supply doesn't short-circuit and come into contact with the rest of the system." In reality, the "insulating pads" are there to minimize vibration and noise

The options in the poll make it pretty clear Digital Foundry is one of the only well known, qualified channels to actually do that for a mainstream audience.

MS could do it themselves, but people don't quite trust them as impartial. Same goes for Sony putting out content by themselves.
