Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the most stunning improvement when compared to its base version. Other great ones are Stellar Blade which looks super sharp in it’s Pro mode and runs at 80fps. Space Marine 2’s performance mode is much improved over base and it’s quality mode is improved as well. Hogwarts Legacy’s image quality is improved and is wonderfully sharp. Black Myth Wukong now looks very 4k-like in its balanced mode on Pro.
The performance modes of Baldur’s Gate 3 and Rise of the Ronin are really nice improvements over their original versions (at least the Series X version of BG3 that I have) and look great. My memory may be wrong here but I think Baldur’s Gate 3’s performance mode now looks better than the quality mode on Series X. I don’t have it currently installed on my Series X so I can’t check it but I’m pretty sure it’s quality mode is worse than Pro’s performance mode now. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is also looking pretty nice in its balanced mode; perhaps still a little soft in balanced mode, but combined with what seems be nice frame rate from the bit I’ve played of it I’d say it’s a pretty decent improvement over the base (though I can’t remember very well how the base looked and ran tbh - perhaps look it up on Youtube for an analysis).
It’s a nice console and PSSR delivers good to great results in a fair number of games so far. PSSR hasn’t worked well (or perhaps hasn’t been implemented well by developers) in every game but hopefully this will become less and less as the months and years go on.
