PS6, Xbox 5 need to come out

Sony and Nintendo launching 4 years either side of each other’s launch seems to work well. PlayStation and Switch compliment each other.

Xbox is irrelevant.

Make me a 5090 based PS6 right now

In fact, what do we have to do to get Nvidia on consoles at all? Another gen with AMD just sounds like pain.

PS5 is fine. Having just launched the Pro (for better or worse), we can't expect a PS6 for another 3 years minimum.

PC-based consoles are the future. There's so much variety in hardware requirements and so many long-running games that the pressure to constantly upgrade is just for real sickos. It might bother you that Stalker 2 plays poorly on the Steam Deck, but it's powerful enough to play lots of new games well through 2030.

Xbox will release theirs soon, but I doubt anyone will care. They've all but given up already.

Sony would be stupid to put the PS6 out anytime soon.

I'd be fine if the Ps5 keeps on going for another 10 years, as long as devs keep optimizing their games for it.
What AAA gaming is missing isn't better graphics, it's more and better games.
It has been like 10 years since I played something and though "you know what this was missing? better graphics". Performance was still an issue last gen, but current consoles can now finally deliver good enough visuals at 60fps. I'd much rather see the focus now shift towards design.

What the hell is a PS6 going to do that a PS5 can't? Most of us were squinting at the PS5 Pro last fall and asking Sony if they were fucking serious or if the reveal was a poorly timed joke.

Are you just not going to be happy until game development times are 15+ years per title so some pixels can be sharper?

Edit: Also to be serious. Sony and Microsoft should drag this generation out to a 10-12 year cycle instead of the usual 8. We have plenty of power to drive games with the hardware on hand. Microsoft should ditch it's Series-S parity plan and let the Series-X drive the rest of the generation.

Be patient. 4 more years. ps5 and ps5 pro still has allot of potentials especially with Sony is going back to its roots and that is single player game exclusives.

If you're the kind of person who wants to live on the technical edge, you won't be satisfied until you get a PC and accept that you're going to spend on average $1000 or more per year upgrading. Between monitor/TV tech, GPU and CPU, there's something bigger and better about every 12-24 months.

In one sense, it's a lot of money to spend. But gamers don't spend nearly as much on hardware as other hobbies, and it's hard to put a price on the satisfaction you get knowing you're not missing out on a better experience while playing games.

These consoles are a piece of trash, all of them, the gen can't end soon enough.
With all the new/updated tools and engines combined with longer dev cycles, we're not allowing studios enough time to master and optimize them for standard configurations.

I think hardware has already caught up greatly, but we lack the games that can fully take advantage of it because not everyone has the latest and greatest and devs have to work around that, or maybe its them being lazy I don't know. I think Nintendo is going to be just fine, especially with Nvidia, they have the tech that Nintendo always needed, its perfect for them, you cant find a better marriage of tech, its like SGI and the N64 days, I believe it will be that great. I have a 9800X3D with a 4070 Ti Super and there is very few games that actually impress me, is that because we have hit a dead end technically or is it because we have to wait for everyone else to catch up? I really don't know.

Generations matter, Nintendo keeps coming late, jobs are being lost due to ship shortage, Sony turned consoles into a phone industry, gaming isn’t a typical hobby, the switch 2 isn’t a typical console and if I’m Sony or Microsoft I don’t wait to launch new consoles, in fact I tease the ps6 tomorrow and launch it for GTA6.

I don't know why, but I read this in videogamedunkey's voice.

They don't need a new console they need better games

Nah they need to wait until they can deliver a proper next gen leap which includes UDNA arc capable of path tracing with all the AI bells and whistles, at least zen 6, double the memory etc.

As underwhelming as the Pro is, the PS6 will be even more disappointing if they rush it before the tech is ready and cheap for consoles
