Rise of the Ronin coming to Steam on March 11th

Thick Thighs Save Lives

NeoGAF's Physical Games Advocate Extraordinaire

We are pleased to announce that the Steam® version of the open-world action RPG "Rise of the Ronin," will be available on March 11, 2025. Pre-orders have also begun today!

"Rise of the Ronin" is an RPG set in the Bakumatsu period in Japan, developed by Team NINJA, known for the "Nioh" and "NINJA GAIDEN" series. Players take on the role of a ronin, forging their own destiny in an open world. The game features multiple possible endings, allowing players to choose which faction to support—such as the anti-shogunate faction, pro-shogunate faction, or Western forces—which significantly alters the story's outcome.

Wow. I didn't expect this to happen. Also interesting to see that KT publish this themselves. I thought this game was bankrolled by Playstation.

Game is really great so I may double dip. Curious to see how performance will stack up as it was a bit of a mess on even the Pro.

85 GB for a linear remake like Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, now 180GB for this... They're just taking the piss now aren't they?!

WTF happened to game optimization,Jesus today's devs suck!

Was the next in line for my Pro after completing Astro Bot, but I’ll hold off to see what the PC release is like.

I'm curious cause I did hear some good things about it. Though it appears compression is clearly not their strong suit.

I thought the demo on PS5 was good, but the frame rate was not. I've been holding out for a PC port. Glad I waited.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

And the demo didn't cover the third act areas where the frame rate took a real dump.

Played it near to when it launched, not sure if a year's worth of patches has improved, but it was a notable chugger back then.

9 days before AC Shadows. GET FUCKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEED. I hope Ubisoft burns and its IPs get sold to someone more sensible that has passion for things like Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell.

It will continue to perform bad, don’t worry

This studio is not known for awesome technical competency
i didnt have problems with nioh or nioh 2 and i have a crappy cpu for gaming ( 3900x )

the game looks really interesting i think i will enjoy it a little more than ghost of tsushima because of the deeper combat

It's well known that the game was not well-optimized on the base PS5. It's a shame it took for the PS5 Pro to release to allow it to run on a more stable framerate on PS5 Pro performance mode compared to base PS5's.
