According to a message posted on the official Discord, MSI and Zotac does not expect to have any stock available through its official store on January 30 (launch day). The company will allow preorders, but only for stock that has already been confirmed. The cards are expected to ship to customers starting February 6.

“We are going to allow RTX 5090 preorders on 1/30 at 6 AM PST, with a ship date of 2/6. The RTX 5080 will be available for purchase on 1/30 at 6 AM PST, with an immediate ship date of 1/30. RTX 5090 preorders will open on 1/30 at 6 AM PST, with a ship date of 2/6.”

Very good. All this does is further justify why I wasn’t gonna upgrade (Zotac or nothing for me)

If I was looking to upgrade off a old setup I would try my luck on a used 4090 or 4080 from people trying to offset the cost of the new cards. Frame gen is cool but 4X seems totally useless with the games currently on the market at 4k.

this is shaping up to be the most papery paper launch ever for a new GPU gen.

We knew Nvidia would rather use the factory capacities for higher margin AI products but at this point you kinda want to ask "why bother with consumer GPUs at all?!"

Because it's still a $3bn revenue stream on their quarterly reports that accounts for roughly 10% of their total income. It also slightly diversifies their earnings so they are not completely reliant on enterprise if it experiences a drop in demand, and at some point it will. Maybe no time soon, but every bubble has its day.

.. The online store where I bought my 4090 has a total of 6 (six!) RTX5090s to sell at launch..

Once this AI bubble collapses they will fall back on gamers. Jensen knows not to completely screw them/us over. The 5000 series is really just for appearances.

That’s the thing. I highly doubt it will collapse .

Also especially the 5090 with its 32 gigs of vram. It’s very clear that this card is not designed for gamers only in mind. Many people will want it for workstations thanks to their generous vram setup

MSI might not have had any stock to sell their cards but they sure sent some to builders as this the system from Best Buy has an MSI 5090 in it
