S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Complete Mod receives a "Modern Update" after 15 Years

Alexios

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Guess I'll try it again since my current PC isn't enough for 2. So is it the original game you install then put the mod files on top of it or one of the sequels?

Ah, because it's called "Complete" I thought it's that other mod that combines all three of the previous games in one. But yeah I guess it's more like a STALKER Enhanced Edition. So, first game only. Kay. Probably still the best in the series but I'm done with it.

Thanks! Im going to buy the STALKER trilogy today once the steam autumn sale starts :)

On sale for -75% right now!

How would one install this on Steam Deck?

Didn't try it myself (yet) but you probably just follow the readme like on windows.
Install the game via steam, extract the .zip and copy/paste the contents to the gamefolder, make sure to overwrite the existing files
Set launch options to -smap4096 -nointro -nocache -noprefetch and you're probably good to go

There is a mod that tries to achieve this goal, it is called Call of Chernobyl
Otherwise I can recommend you to take a look at Anomaly and G.A.M.M.A.

So which one should I choose? Complete, Anomaly or GAMMA for my first playthrough?

Did they get rid of the auto bandage usage? It ruined the last version of complete.
I don't see changes in 1.5 changelog, but for 1.4.3 it says : "- bandages auto-apply at 10% health (optional)"
So my guess is, if it is still in 1.5, you can deactivate it. Got to have a look. 10% auto-apply is like god mode and boring.

Nice, probably is optional then. Glad to see complete get an update. The new models and shader work looks excellent

I've been on the fence to buy and play the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. through the autumn sale triple pack on Steam (since the new game will likely run like crap on my PC) or Cyberpunk 2077.
I haven't played either of them and I'm ready for some serious gaming.

I'm leaning towards S.T.A.L.K.E.R. due to this mod.
