Evac is tough when given plenty of warning and daylight. Smokey nighttime rush is going to be challenging. And high winds pushing the fire too. Very dangerous.

Apparently its like 85-100mph wind gusts out there. That is crazy. Fire can spread so fast with that kind of wind. Hope everyone is safe. Mother nature can be a real bitch sometimes.

I have a cousin at the border of Santa Monica and my sister is relatively close in Monrovia. My sister is likely to come over to where we are in the morning but what is another concern is all the smoke in the air and my niece is asthmatic.

Hopefully the winds won't be so bad tomorrow so the firefighters can push back.

I read the winds were supposed to peak at 10 pm, tonite, tapering off by 10am in the morning. The revised alert said that the winds would die down by 8pm, tomorrow.
This is something else..luckily in this part of the city that I live in, everyone takes it upon themselves to chop their trees around the fall. We have a huge tree but it's got no leaves so, we're good...
That said, when I got off of work, there was this massive gust of wind and I couldn't see for shit... this is an event of Wind unlike anything I ever seen. We have peoples roof pieces and awnings all over the street, lol... our backyard has debris from other homes, too.

It was so calm this morning too and even got a phone advisory about possible rain in the morning.

Infrastructure, like the power grid sparking?

I saw videos of a homeless guy setting trash on fire earlier today, so can’t guarantee it was an infrastructure related fire. Good chance it was either a hobo lighting things up, or a non-hobo arsonist too.

It was... I can't recall when the wind got crazy, but it might have been around 11am-12pm in my area. By the time I emerged from the house to fly to work, I looked back and I believe it's smoke from the Eaton Fire... opposite way is toward LA, and further out.. the Palisades Fire.

my hood is pretty far from the mountains so I should be fine. but it seems just one city north of us is having some fire right now.

and yeah, it's mainly due to the wind since it had been pretty crazy strong today. and earlier what I thought was some trash cans getting blown around turns out was something else.

Does California do any preventive measures for fires like that? Trimming, controlled forest fires etc. I feel like there are fires every year.

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.

That was an accident waiting to happen.... :messenger_open_mouth:

News was just saying that there seems to be another fire starting in the Sun Valley/Burbank Airport area.

Copycat arsonists? So many fires have been started by these sick people... Here's a guy in Northern California that spent 17 years in jail for arson and when he got out he started doing it again.

You are really going with "fuck the homeless" angle?
jumping to conclusions is how the opinionated know things without basis to use tragedies to push their opinion, like the recent terrorist attacks in the US being done by illegal immigrants, until it was discovered they weren't.
