Santa Monica issuing evacuation order

Is someone starting these fires on purpose?

As awful as it is to say, I can't believe it doesn't happen more often. The amount of people in this world who randomly decide to do dumb shit, all it takes is one human being, not even an adult, to decide to be a moron and start a fire, and all of a sudden you have utter chaos.

I recall homeless encampment fires being a regular occurence not too long ago. We also had that big one that shut down the 10 freeway.

Some really unstable people out there, fucking hell.

Edit: I don't think she was trying to start another massive fire, though. If she was, she's a fucking moron. For one; there's nothing around the garbage bag that could potentially start a chain reaction. Still, she should be arrested and questioned if they can identify her.

I don't want to be a negative Nancy but this was one of my first thoughts when I first heard about these fires. This happens often in South Africa where I'm from.

When there's a natural disaster or protesting or any sort of chaos or confusion, there's a group of people who will deliberately escalate it through arson or vandalism. It really brings out the opportunists in the community.

Won't be surprised to hear that these fires were started deliberately by an individual or group of people.

Would put hands on this tool and then call the cops.

Apparently California’s power grid is ancient and powerlines catching fire may have been the cause. (I wouldn’t rule out hobo fires though.) Probably bury the lines next time.

This country is truly fucked. Enormous wildfires the likes of which we’ve never seen before, and it’s completely politicized.

If Pearl Harbor happened today, instead of pulling together, it would be nothing but finger pointing.

It’s sickening. Social media needs to die.
The ActBlue email came through.

This is 100% the fault of the idiots running CA and Los Angeles.

Hobo power grid.

Would like to see some actual infrastructure investments in this country. Even when they do spend money the shit's so preposterously slow. There's a "water conveyance" project next to me that has blocked off two lanes of a nearby thoroughfare for literal years at this point. A few more months and it'll have been longer than Pearl Harbor to fucking Nagasaki trying to lay down like a mile of water pipes.

They already caught a guy and charged him with arson. CNN is in deep climate change copium. The palisades fire started where there was no power lines. It was a guy who started it and the LA DA has already charged him.

Stop listening to CNN.

I’m not a fan of CNN. The video claims the geolocation matched up. Not sure if that can be verified.

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.

The US government has the wrong priorities. They hand over 100+ billion dollar to Ukraine without sparing it a single thought but anguish over spending any money on its citizens. Look at how poorly the people on Maui and in North Carolina were supported after their communities were wiped off the map, that was an absolute disgrace.

Funding priority is one thing and I have no argument with you there. But even something that's ostensibly funded just doesn't get done. Feels like a full-on societal decay to me.

*Worth to mention, 100+ billion dollars worth of equipment - it is all not solid cash, roughly 1/3 has been allocated as "cash". It's mainly stuff allready manufactured and from storage. Also worth to mention, so far, only 30% has actually reached Ukraine.

I hope this is allowed to be posted, to explain how it works:

A large share of the money in the aid bills is spent in the United States, paying for American factories and workers to produce the various weapons that are either shipped to Ukraine or that replenish the U.S. weapons stocks the Pentagon has drawn on during the war. One analysis, by the American Enterprise Institute, found that Ukraine aid is funding defense manufacturing in more than seventy U.S. cities. The U.S. is not handing money over fist to Ukraine, mainly it is old stuff from storage, that then is replaced by new stuff. The valuation of said materials is also valued by various institutes, so, there is no real way of knowing the exact worth of the equipment. One example are Humvees, sold through government auctions can range from $4,000 to $20,000 or more, on the donation cost pages, they are listed as being worth $35,000.

This is pretty much all I have to say on this topic here.

Oh, and that I'm praying for all those who've lost homes or possessions. I hope they can find peaceful recovery.

In Mexico we use this phrase when something very Bad happens involving goverment : "if that had happened in the U.S. the police chief, mayor, governor ,senator would have already resigned.

At this moment no one has resigned in this case and in other ones happens the same, the responsibility no longer exists, politicans create narratives in order to stay in their position.

Welcome to the third world of polítics.

Alas, it's true.

The incumbent can't be forced to leave, their own party will rarely try to unseat them in a primary, and the voters are lock step with their own party so it's rinse/repeat over and over, both sides.

Fuck. This is how the UK ended up in its current predicament, and we don't need that shit here. No responsibility anywhere.
