Beating a dead horse but I literally do not understand the modern western studios and their seemingly endless obsession with uggos. Explain it to me please, someone?

You better be a women. Otherwise I don’t know why you care about a man’s looks. Unless, you swing the other way. 😂

So the first game bombed despite being excellent so they doubled down on the rougelike elements? What? Are they TRYING to get shutdown?

Just make a traditional third person shooter. No one wants to play rougelikes on consoles. or PC for that matter since the game flopped hard on pc too.

You do understand where this team come from right? You're saying the 1st one bombed but it was their biggest game because most of their games are $10 & $20 games

I generally hate roguelikes, but Returnal is one of the best PS5 games. They did things right, and it sounds like there is going to be even more permanent upgrades and true progression. If they can keep the story interesting the way Returnal did, even when you died, I will be here for Saros.

basically the same game again. yawn

Housemarque has plenty of rep for reinvention even within familiar formulas. They did four twin-stick shooters on PS platforms (a genre not known for its depth of play innovation) and all of those are significantly different from one another. I trust that they can make another TPS Roguelike and find ways of making something fresh again.

But at level 4, you go back to your pistol. And knowing which weapons fit your playstyle doesn't mean they'll drop again for the remainder of that run. It's probably why the opted to reset you to level 4 if you die after reaching it, but it certainly took the wind out of my sails the first time it happened as I was having a really good run as far as drops were concerned.
I platinumed Returnal and probably finished the game from start to finish a dozen times. I never went through a run without eventually getting the exact gun with most of the passives that I wanted.

Early on it can be frustrating while you learn enemy patterns and item priority. When I “got good” though, playing Return was gaming ambrosia.

What time is it?

The point is that if you get a weapon you like on Biome's 1-3, that gets taken away at the start of Biome 4 which is done for narrative purposes but is the antithesis of run based games.

I'm going to take this moment to remind the uninitiated that Returnal can be played as a linear game without the rogue lite elements. Is that the way it is intended to be played? Nope, and I don't give a shit! Using cloud save states turned it into one of my favorite games this gen vs. one I would have put down in frustration. Do I suck at games? Maybe, but I refuse to apologize for playing it this way and think many more gamers should bypass the rogue elements and play it as the bad ass linear action game it can be. If you're like me and hate rogue like/lite random procedural crap, do your self a favor and play Returnal anyway...with save states. It's gameplay and world design are sublime and you'll be glad you did!

Returnal really is something special and after my time with it what ever Housemarque makes next is day one for me! Can't wait to play their new game (the same damned way I played the last, gaming gods willing)

Housemarque doesn't miss. Should have called it Returnal 2 instead of Saros, but I get the marketing side of it being rougelite vs like.

Going from an ugly female protag to an ugly male protag.

They learn slowly don't they...

"Ugly" and "uggos" because he's brown (based on an IRL actor's likeness and performance) and "not white"?

It looked somewhat cool from the trailer but lost interest after finding out it's Returnal 2/from the same creators cause I have absolutely no interest in that shit.

If you want to look at your pretty boys, you could always play some Japanese or Korean RPG where everyone is 18 and looks like they're a late 90s plastic CGI character on a strict skincare regimen. Meanwhile, here is a face of a grown up man who has Been Through Some Shit™.

God fucking dammit. The worst part of Returnal was the roguelike elements. Looks like they're leaning into that instead of just making a normal game.
Yeah it's going to be a pass for me if it plays and is constructed like Returnal, meaning you won't get absolutely anything from some (longer) runs. But who knows, maybe they've learned how to reward the player better and keep him engaged to keep going.

So it doesn't seem like a rogue game.
this is a good news, the sense of progression in returnal was pretty fucking meh, the roguelite elements were the weakest part of the game.
They have to make something where every run make you feel like you are making progress and it was not always the case with returnal and they have to work on skill synergies, what make roguelites special.

I love the game but I can't beat the snow level. Help.

Waiting to see if the game will be randomly generated or not.

A bit slower Returnal that has a tailored, permanent world could be revelatory.

Can't wait for this one!

I'm pretty sure the main characer is this dude from Midnight Mass, right?

Great actor

EDIT: Yup

With a haunting story, deep third-person action, and a grounded performance by Rahul Kohli, SAROS presents the next evolution in Housemarque's gameplay-first experience.

Who is saying the dude is ugly should post a selfie lol

Easy mode is keeping the hollowseeker when you get it — trying to land serrated projectiles/waves/portal beam/portal turret traits.

Also take the snow biome slow. If you did a good job exploring/buffing in the jungle, you don’t have to do as much in the snow and underwater biomes.

When I started out, I also avoided parasites. For the most part I think they do more harm than good and aren’t worth the gamble.

The game turned profit, hence this being greenlit.

Not every Sony game is a $200m investment that needs to sell 15m+ copies.

This is pretty much a higher end AA budget studio with AAA polish. And silky smooth gameplay for days that shits on most top developers.

This looks promising. The complaints won't stick, the game did it right. Can't wait.

Roguelites can be offputting at first, but give Hades a try. That is the game that made me a fan. Inscryption also has some elements but is not really definable by genre. Vampire Survivors is really good. I wish more people I knew where into these but there is a contingent of gamer who HATES the idea of replaying generated levels. I was a member of this group at one point, but Hades showed me the error of my ways.

The game made only $57 million in two years on PS5. And flopped big time on PC. Only 6k concurrent players iirc.

I liked the game, paid full price for it and will buy the sequel day one but its clear the market doesnt want more rougelikes.

What's wrong with the guy? I don't find him ugly.

Are the only options hot girl with big boobs or androgynous male (with big boobs preferably)??

You people are never satisfied...

This guy is literally banging GAF's waifu Alannah Pearce and likely nutting in her as we speak. If she finds him attractive, who are we to say anything lol

I like the character model. Much more badass than the real guy. voice acting is fantastic. Great to finally hear a gruff sounding dude in a video game again.
