All those easter eggs were of popular movies they were making fun of....while still staying in character,the most important part. They were doing contemporary easter eggs while staying in character in the universe they created.
When has Fiona ever talked like she's a "yass queen mama likes it" girl from 2025 and which particular movie are they making fun of in this sequence? To me, it just seems like an out of place character moment that isn't funny nor a parody of anything and just a sample of bad character writting. But it's too early to judge it too harshly so I'll wait for the trailer but as a fan of the series this is an awful first impression.
Shrek twerking is just....why? Who finds this funny? People awaiting brain surgery?

Legitimately one of the best animated films in a while that flew so far under the radar because it isn't a Disney grown title.
And yeah, this teaser looked cringe af. Especially with the oddly placed cussing at the end. Felt like it was trying to EdGy.

This looks fucking terrible.
Its basically every abomination in modern Hollywood wrapped up in a 30 second promo. They turned the artstyle into generic Disneyshit (Shrek looks cute-sy instead of brutish and ogre-ish), the dialogue is manchild reddit crap (just overenthusiastically reacting to things instead of talking like actual adults), and needless Zendaya casting.
At least its an animated movie so we don't have to see two plus hours of Zendaya's constipated
face being interpreted as "acting".Talent really is dead. There's absolutely nothing good coming out in the near future. Its a shame they had to regurgitate and desecrate this franchise's corpse too, the first two Shrek movies are excellent movies with some pretty mature writing in them.

Pedro has already been overexposed. I witnessed, in realtime, people go from cheering him to getting tired of him.
However, I didn't really see the same effect here over time with Zendaya, and as a matter of fact I'm not even sure how many here liked her in her breakout role, Euphoria. I do think that Zendaya in particular breeds an extra layer of disdain because when I look at the amount of projects between her and Margot, she technically has less on screen roles under her belt within the past 4 years, whereas Margo did ~2 per year, almost a pattern of one indie one blockbuster.
I think one big factor is that Zendaya is a main star in two big franchises both running at the same time, Marvel(Spiderman) and Dune, so when both franchises are taking turns coming out when the other just came out the prior year, people keep seeing her show up not only in those movies but their merchandising and commercials too, so it starts to feel like a constant stream of Zendaya.
If they check out her credits though they'll easily see that she hasn't...really been in much else
It is an interesting case.Just using IMDB, Zendaya has like 13 projects since 2020. Pedro has EIGHTEEN. And that's not counting upcoming stuff.
Margo only has seven.
That's the overexposure issue. And didn't Margo just have a kid?
As an aussie i think she also has to work at a certain frequency to keep her work visa if she stays in the states. Not sure if Pedro is in the same situation.

Of those projects, lets look at her face forward time on screen....
Since 2020, she's been in 2 movies per year... With none in 2022 and 2023. One is her show on HBO. The other projects were either commercials here in the US or abroad or voice acting where you don't see her face.
Her face hasn't been in that much since 2020.

but yeah, she gets dumped on out of proportion to her body of work, but she replaced 2 redheads in genre projects (Mary J and Chani) so that's gonna earn her some ire.
