God damn Kacho Kacho Chuck Berry Chuck Berry

This game is just THICC with atmosphere. Only two hours deep but my god I can tell it’s a horror masterpiece…never played the original

The visuals, art design, sound and music are simply 👨‍🍳:goog_blowing_kiss:

For PC users who have stutter issues, try this mod - it completely solved all stutter issues for me. I think the game only stuttered in the meat room with Eddie - possibly due to the 'fog' effects (the cold air of the freezer).

Try the version which removes Nanite from the game, not the regular version.

Also James Sawyer Ford James Sawyer Ford how is it on the Pro for you

Im buyin the Pro after work today! 🙏 :messenger_sunglasses:

Never saw it on base PS5, but it’s pretty close to locked 60 at higher res targets according to DF

Looks superb, though I think they just shoe horned the Pro patch, there are better examples elsewhere

Nice on getting the Pro! Some games are transformational on it and all the Sony ports are excellently enhanced

This game is the absolute king of dread in terms of pacing. It keeps escalating when you think you reached your personal limit of how fucking oppressive it can get.

It may be a bit long in the tooth but I felt like it added to the sense that it feels like a lumbering ghost ship slowly pulling in the harbor versus other Horror games that still feel like jet skis delivering action. It's a goofy analogy, I know, but the game's heft and depth kept making me picture the Titanic for some odd reason. It feels heavy and keeps getting worse and worse in the best way.

Probably one of my favorite, if not the favorite, Horror games of all time and this is coming from a total Bloober hater. It's an amazing game and the level design and combat are shockingly fun and great to boot.

Any tips I should be aware of?

I’m kind of being lackadaisical with health stuff, and I’m not being overly cautious against those creatures. I don’t have a gun yet, but have ammo and it seems very sparse

In the beginning, resources are scarce. If you fight the first two enemy types you meet with melee attacks, you will amass a SHIT ton of ammo by the time you roam the hospital.

If you absolutely MUST use handgun ammo, be sure to aim at the legs of the mannequins and the armless enemies - it causes them to fall on their knees and then you can follow up with a critical dmg melee attack.

For the nurses, use headshots, and avoid fighting them with melee attacks, because their attack patterns can be quite unpredictable.

When I reached the prison, I had like 120 handgun ammo, 25 shotgun shells and 20 health drinks and 15 syringes.

Angela's dad is doable to melee 100%.

I played on Hard, not sure what you're on. The best thing I did was sit down for ten minutes or so and just focus on learning dodging properly, especially the mannequin moveset. The melee combat is actually really satisfying and the dodge works well and feels good.

I'm unsure what other difficulties are like but while it isn't Resi 2 or anything, on Hard I was often pretty low, or out of, anything but handgun ammo. Others have mention the leg and head shots. The game has a lot of combat elements that aren't tutorialized so you CAN even do sneak attacks on nurses for easier kills. Try turning off your flashlight later on, it definitely helps sometimes.

If you use your shotgun, be in melee range. The spread is huge and I always waited for pipe swing range to blast anything otherwise it felt wasted.

The dodge doesn't look that useful but it really helps against the mannequins and a certain boss down the line.

The leave ending is also so damn savage.

The truth is hated you. I wanted you out of the way. I wanted my life back.

If that's true...why do you look so sad?

The deliver and the impact of these words. Holy shit.

Been gaming for years and this one is gonna stick with me for a very long long time.
The way she said that, It legit got my eyes wet.
That one line might've saved the ending for me. or the game.
Really happy someone else noticed that line too.

And other impactful part for me was near the ending:
When monsters are afraid of you after watching the tape. They are shaking and cowering in fear. you are the monster.

So can we talk about
the Prison.
Thanks. I hate it.

Too goddamn long. Really fucked up the pacing and just felt like a bloated slog. Especially because it was so goddamn dark you couldn't see ten feet in front of you. You have your flashlight on AND you've turned on the timed prison lights but you still can't see shit. I get that this was a very deliberate visual design choice. The darkness is in James and so it manifests more like a black fog than darkness in there. That would have been fine for one prison block, but no, let's have wing after wing of boring fucking cellblocks.

Many of the departures from the original game were well handled, but the prison was just bad. It should have been one third as long as it is. It's the only thing that stopped me from replaying the game. I'm not dragging myself through the fucking prison again.
