I just saw that Nexusmods has a mod for Angela and it's very good:

I think they tweaked Angela's face in the final game, at least I cannot find the same matching look in this cut-scene. She no longer looks like a man, but when you look at her slender body, her puffy face just does not look right.

I already finished the game and I thought Angela looked feminine to me, but they could definitely improve her model to resemble either that concept art or real model.

Maybe they didn’t want her to be a 1:1 match with the model. They weren’t trying to make someone super duper pretty and she looks appropriate for her setting/situation regardless it how “attractive” one may find the final model.

Sounds like folks should be in my profession (which is Character Artist) if they want the perfect set of quads/triangles on a screen. :pie_roffles:

I swear some folks need to get a breath of fresh air and stay off the internet or something, lmao.

I believe it's more so because people attempted to make a stink regarding how she looks in the first place when she is literally modeled after the VA. People can do whatever they want to their games with mods, it's their right, always has been. But I personally think the real "issue" is that there are people that think she is some grotesque looking figure that doesn't even resemble a woman when she is in fact modeled by an actual person and woman. It's pretty messed up.

Yeah, no, I don't consider her grotesque. Just a bit too different from the original CGI for Angela for my tastes. But on the other hand I don't agree with people who say Aloy is grotesque in Forbidden West. She's my puffy little waifu. <3

The model looks super different depending on the role/photo shoot. Which is the whole purpose of being an actress! But they still want to own with an actress photo in an Oscar red carpet and say, Look what they did to her!

I know. The idea comes off so bizarre at times!

Yeah, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they made adjustments to fit the character more for obvious reasons. I don't believe it goes any deeper than that if anything. Wild that people are saying agenda this and agenda that, lol. I mean, in some cases with some games, some designs can be kind of questionable, sure. But not here. I think Silent Hill 2 Remake was wrongfully targeted for a lot of things, and I hate that. Especially since the game is so damn solid.

I get that, but man, the original character models looked pretty off in their own ways IMO. Definitely worked at the time of course, but as time passed I couldn't help but notice them looking strange. The characters in remake being modeled after the VAs just made me happier as it just made everything feel a bit more realistic and believable.

Gianna Kiehl looks like a woman and if they would copy her look (especially her chin), people playing the game would not have to wonder if Angela is a woman or not. BTW. In the early 2000s, Japanese developers had an obsession with attractive female characters in their games. Bloober should respect that.

Angela in game looks like a woman and sounds like a depressed melancholy woman, especially for the era the game was original made.

BTW, the original designer worked with Bloober and wanted the new designs realized in modern tech. Hell, Ito was pleased with them.

Are you 13? Does seeing a woman who looks like a woman instantly make you horny? So ridiculous that you think woman = pornmaterial
Honestly, your viewpoint is pretty gross.

No it's ridiculous to go insane and lose your mind over every female character in a game that does look "hot". This character looks like a woman in the game. Is her face a little puffy? Yes! But she's so clearly a woman in the game.

I feel like it's only when the camera is looking directly at her. No offense to the model but she does look cartoonish in the game. Side view isn't distracting at all to me though.

I can't lie though, her face is really off putting within the game, just looks weird to me but again, that's not a slight against the real person.

Are we talking about angela?

I think she looked fine until this particular moment where the voice acting\facial acting is absolutely fucking hilarious (bad)

Before that she was...fine, and i heard her voice acting is one of the highlights, so she is probably much better in the other cutscenes.

There's obviously a problem when so many people aren't sure if Angela is male or female in the game. As this artist has proven, Bloober deliberately wanted to make Angela's model look like a man. Because of people bad reception, they tweaked Angela's face a little bit in the final game, but to me Angela model still look weird because puffy face just does not match her slender body.

Seek psychosexual help. If you play SH2 Remake and doubt that Angela is a woman, you need professional help. I’m not kidding, bro.

I assume that Tommi was referencing Angela. My mistake if he wasnt.

I am replaying the otherworld hospital on hard to desensitised myself from the atmosphere a bit and this boss before you enter is no joke huh. Took it down in one shot on standard with nothing but the steelpipe and a few shotgun shells. On hard literally became a dark souls boss.

She looks like a woman, she sounds like a woman. Out of all the absurd opinions I've read about the game, I've never seen anyone say they "don't know she's a woman", lol.

I didn't bother watching his video, because the thumbnail alone shows me his tune. Hell, looking at the thumbnails of his other videos drove it even further.

I know right? Oh no this Teen isn't fuckable, not buying your "woke" game anymore. Such superficial reasons to get mad at games lately.
It's ridiculous. Especially when there are legitimate great games, but people refuse to play them because of whatever "agenda" they believe in. Even more so when they go all over forums and socials trying to sling mud or whatever. It just feels like they're throwing temper tantrums.

I'm tired of people being so upset or offended about XYZ. It's gotten to the point where people just look for problems that don't even exist. I just wanna play good/great games man, lmao.

I wonder how bad people are going to debate how cheryl, alessa, cybil, and lisa look in a few years
No kidding, and I'm not looking forward to it. I'm sure there are gonna be people trying to say Silent Hill 3 is "woke" because the protagonist is a girl or something silly.

As I said, the Angela model looks feminine to me in the final game, but still needs some tweaking because her face does not match her slender body.

In that infamous trailer however her model looked more like a male for sure. As a photographer I can understand what this character artist said about skull differences, and he is 100% correct about that. Bloober deliberately wanted to make a masculine looking Angela and if not for the bad reception they would have kept this design.

Eh, I'm sure their team knew what they were doing and no tweaking is really "needed", but hey, there's mods for people that feel that way.

I never once thought or felt like she looked like a male, lmao. To each their own, but I'm not going to take some random YouTuber's word as "factual" without hearing it from the devs themselves as they actually worked on the game day in and day out.

Much like I and others have said previously, if any adjustments were made, they made them because they felt it was probably better for the character. Because of who she is and her backstory, I don't think they wanted her to resemble what those that are "upset" wanted her to look like. A lot of the "fixed" mods look absurd IMO.

I never say the internet was a mistake (because that's a little hyperbolic), but I think it's appropriate here. What person with functioning eyes actually thinks she looks like a man? Attention seeking behavior at this point.

I think the initial images of her when this game was still in development, weren't very flattering. But my issue with it is that she had NPC syndrome. The textures on her face just didn't look developed enough, and her face was so plain that it had that NPC look. But now that the game is out, I think she looks fine.

That said, the people bitching about her not looking attractive enough are pretty disgusting. I'm pretty Anti-Woke, but I also believe in picking your battles. This one ain't a hill worth dying on. Silent Hill is not the type of game to complain about wokeness, and that goes double for Angela given what she's been through. Some people have completely lost the plot.

This isn't about some random YouTuber. Human biology has been studied for hundreds of years and like it or not, but there are obvious differences between male and female skulls.

NDuJmbA.png

The SH2 remake is an absolutely amazing game overall, but what bloober did with Angela model was disgusting. They deliberately made a male skull for a female character in the game and thought people would not notice. People programmed/demoralized by WOKE culture did not notice it because they cannot see any difference between the sexes anyway, but people educated in the biology of the human skull can see what they were trying to do.

I'm sure majority of us are well aware of how human biology works. But varying facial structures in both men and women also do exist. I mean, you can see plenty of examples IRL if you just run a few errands.

But to say Bloober did something like that intentional as part of some agenda is... pretty ridiculous. Also, to say those that didn't make a fuss "did not notice it" and are "programmed/demoralized" is silly. 🤷‍♂️

Have not been around many Polish, Baltic or Serbian women, eh? Lots of them have more square and wider jaws.

All of the females in this comparison have a pronounced V-shaped jaw and face, even in your "square" example. They all look like normal women.

I work with Polish women every day. The only "women" in Poland who look like Angela are men pretending to be women.

This discussion is pointless. I've already said what I wanted to say, and there's no need to derail this thread any further. The SH2 remake is amazing overall, but as a professional who has spent years studying human faces and working with female models, I can understand why so many fans are not happy with Angela's in-game model.
