Look at BMW today. Their lineup of cars are peppered with turbo engines. Their much sought after M cars are now going exclusively 4WD and their entry level (big sellling) models are front wheel drive. Its a simple example but one that i hope brings my point across.

MS has identified that there is much more to gain by spreading your product across all hardware platforms. Office 365 is generating huge profit for MS. Everything is moving to online services.
Its not a stretch to think that eventually gaming will do the same.

Sony will still produce magic when it comes to games and i'm not sure why myself as a fan needs to be worried or concerned with them extending their portfolio to PC and/or mobile. I still get to play PS games on my PS console.

Because at the end of the day more people get to play PS games which means i get to game with a larger pool of people online and my god that is one of the most amazing things you could ask for as a gamer. A massive online community not held back by any boundries or closed off ecosystems.

Yea there's no point getting either box at launch unless it has the games we wanna play there and then. The box itself is a means to the games.

Though backwards compatibility with enhancements (like One X) would be a huge attraction, I'm the kind who loves revisiting my games library.

I'll even give you a little inside info - I hear that developers are becoming weary of managing multiple platforms. Some of my sources say they can't wait to see all games just get released on the PC and consoles (other than Nintendo) get deprecated altogether. The PC platform is just moving too fast to catch up with each generation of a new console. The hardware is merging also (CPU + GPU) so it's an inevitability at this point.

Forgive me but I think you're looking at this in a two dimensional way. This is an old IP that has seen its day on the PS4 and isn't likely to sell well any more on the PS4/PS5. That's not Sony deserting their singleplayer/exclusive mentality, that's making more money from an old game and potentially advertising a follow up to those who buy it on the PC. Then, when Horizon 2 comes out and is exclusive to the PS5 (maybe PS4) then those who bought the game on the PC and liked it a lot, are more likely to consider buying a PS5 to play it. This isn't the same as putting every game, day and date on the PC, this is extending the promotions of the IP and making money whilst doing it.

It's the exact same strategy they use for PS Now. I was telling people a long time ago that PS4 games would appear on that service but not until they're much older and not selling well on the PS4 as standalones any more. There's no difference here.

Sony just announced 106 Millions of PS4, 1.15 billion PS4 games, which means over 5 billion PS games. This generation won many goty awards and most of the other ones that weren't made by them were playable on their console. Before PS5 release this year they have Dreams, TLOU2, FVII Remake, Ghost of Tsushima, Doom Eternal, Yakuza 7 and many other great upcoming games.
