I would be surprised if they were actually profitable at that price. As ridiculous as it sounds the price to get a new EV to market is often so expensive that some cars are sold at a loss.

Subsidies, mandates, and other shenanigans often pushes car makers into making an EV. Some car makers are actively fined or punished quite severely if they don't sell a certain percentage of EV's, so selling EV's at a loss would be offset by profits made from selling traditional ICE cars.

In an odd way, new EV's are not too different from AAA games. Expensive and often shipped with half baked software at launch. Yearly refreshes, patches, bugs and glitches are all part of the EV experience.

And this is not including the chase for recurring revenue per vehicle sold. Subscription services and so forth for all those features that you don't actually need for basic driving.

a 'media bar' allowing you to display messages on the front bumper.
I can't wait to see the nice messages people put on there 😐.
The Afeela 1 will be made available in mid 2026, with prices for the Afeela 1 Origin, and Afeela 1 Signature, starting from $89,900 and $109,900, respectively.
I hope they offer the PS5 pro in the top trim... I mean, at that price they have to give you perks.

My overall impressions: I want less tech in my cars, I found that driving around with these distractions make driving a shore.

However, I can see a place where you don't really drive that much anymore so the big screen would be useful as an entertainment device, even for the driver.

Good to have a steering wheel which doesn't block the view to the screen just behind. In some cars this is extremely annoying and dangerous.
Also, I believe this is a mostly self driving car, right?

Looks like a Chinese generic ev crap

Market for ev is very competitive right now, why would they risk trying? Should've pull the plug like apple did.

I won't lie... I LOVE those side mirror cameras and how large they are and I think more cars should start doing it like that going forward, the only gripe is what is going on with the size of the bezels of the displays. 😂

I actually like it.
Honda e did that much better, because the outside mirrors were tiny. Here you have the regular sized mirrors so there's really no point in turning them into screens. It's also going to be another expensive piece of the car to fix when damaged and that can happen very easily in a parking lot.

A digital rear mirror is a cool feature especially when the visibility to the back is abysmal. Side mirrors are just overkill and a gimmick.

Screens are cheaper. Fortunately, some companies reversed course. Respect for Mazda for sticking with physical buttons at the peak of the touch control stupidity.
No, screens are not cheaper than buttons for a few cents. But yes extra buttons are a few cents more, ... but for cars that cost a few thousands more ....

They're watching Spiderman on the dash.

"Mr. Stark? I don't Afeela so good..."

It's weird how they would make a special edit of Infinity War JUST FOR THIS!
