Did you read the last few updates on fortunes run? The dev is going to jail..What’s worrying for me with this next fest is that two games I’ve been following for years now and in early access or with demos did not update for a new demo
Fortune’s run & Death Trash
Eternal early access![]()

First time I snapped and filtered "female protagonist". The M'Lady is off the charts with some of these indies.First thing I will do - filter all 'soulslike' and 'metroidvania' to my ignore list.
some nice one i see
Neon Inferno - Another brilliant gem that completely caught me by surprise. It combines elements from Beat-Em-Ups and run-and-gun games like Contra and offers up some neat gameplay tricks of its own as well. Not only does it play well but it looks even better! It really nails the retro visuals (which are customizable as well with filters and the like), something that so many other games fail at. Loved it.
Facing these things head on in first person...This game looked intriguing as fuck and it kept that same feeling while playing it. The crunchy ass graphics fit perfect.
Don't ask me wtf happened, I have no idea but I liked it. Might need to get used to it but I recommend this first person dungeon crawler.
Yeah it really is a stunner. One of the best looking games I've seen in recent years, and I mean no hyperbole whatsoever. Here I thought pixel art and run n' guns had peaked long ago and you recommend this beauty:

*The pictures hardly do it justice. The image quality is CRT heaven.
P.S. I can't remember the last time Steam Next Fest had this many bangers.
A first person game that lacks the most basic options and is unplayable, without spewing up your lunch, for anyone other than the solo dev who uploaded it? That's not really narrowing it down for a next fest.I tried one game on that I now can't find the name of... Vildem or something like that? Anyway it's an fps that doesn't have inverted mouse. Nice!

The Knightling - Seems lovingly made but the performance was shockingly bad, even on medium. I also couldn't figure out what to do during the first quest where you're meant to go the outskirts and investigate monster attacks. Ran around for ages only managing to solve 2 out of 3 requirements. Might snap it up on the cheap in the future, if they fix the performance that is.
Man I really enjoyed the demo, but the dev's twitter account stopped me from buying the game at release. They had a mental break about Valve refusing to give it a "sexual violence" tag. I know right? What financially interested developer WANTS the marketplace to give their product a tag that can only hurt sales? That's when I realized this person was a sick puppy. The recent jailing just confirmed it. Shame, because the demo had such potential.Did you read the last few updates on fortunes run? The dev is going to jail..
Thanks for the recommendations in here! Snapped up a couple of demos that I'll check out later.Twilight Monk was a real surprise. I thought it was your typical Chinese platformer, but it turns out it's a western developed and feels more like a poorly localized game from the 90's where seemingly serious characters speak with surfer dude slang. But underneath is a pretty well made metroidvania with elements from Zelda 2.
It's based on setting with 5 novels created by Trent Kaniuga, a concept artist for a lot of games like Diablo 3, WoW and others. Dude was the writer for Final Fight: Streetwise... oh dear!
Imagine buying the game on sale and then over two weeks later they come out with that statement making you unable to get a refund.Man I really enjoyed the demo, but the dev's twitter account stopped me from buying the game at release. This looks like a nice little metroidvania creep Alien like
