as we can see with SW:Outlaws, Concord, Dragon Age: Veilguard, YouTube likes/dislikes ratio correlate to sales performance. Those games have high dislikes count (more than likes count)

Pretty much, even discounting them being ratio’s, those are not good numbers for naughty dog.

You can infer from those stats that intergalactic, onimusha and borderlines will all be commercial failures, depending on budgets and monetisation.

Intergalactic - unlikely to have secondary monetisation, will have an enormous budget. Those metrics suggest it won’t break even. I would have expected metrics to be similar to the Witcher, even if it had equal dislikes to likes.

Onimusha - also unlikely to have extra means of revenue, if it’s an AA budget, then maybe long tail it’ll break even, but I’d be surprised.

Borderlands - for such an established franchise, those are not good numbers, and don’t demonstrate a high level of interest. If it’s heavily monetised, maybe it’ll scrape by from its fanbase.

All speculation ofcourse, but I doubt Sony or epic will be pleased.

People thinking those massive downvotes on Intergalactic don't mean a thing...you all said the same thing about Suicide Squad and Concord and the nuclear craters left behind from the bombs they became are a testament to what perception can create to your sales.

As an ND game it will still sell millions but you can bet your ass Sony and Naughty Dog are in full blown panic mode right now since they are looking at TLOU levels of success with a thing like this especially after the insane failure of Concord and so far that first impression failed miserably with the masses.

Selling anything short of 10 million is a massive failure for a highprofile game like this from a high profile studio and I can guarantee if this perception persists it will be lucky if it sells 5 million.

Those are the same people that said "Dragon Age is a big IP, the negative voices are just loud minority and the game will still sell like hot cakes". And they celebrated the opening weekend 89k peak CCU like it's a clap back at anti-woke people. Now they are awfully quiet and tried to pretend Veilguard doesn't exist.

Naughtydog has an incredible track record all things considered, but one should realize that majority of their audience are the mostly casual mainstream gamers that just plays what looks like the best fancy new games (which ND games mostly were). But they don't really have a huge loyal fanbase like like Rockstar, Kojima or (once) Bethesda that would just buy anything they made no questions asked. TLOU2 was still largely a financial success because TLOU was too popular and the controversy happened as an online leak, which means most audience were not aware of the details when they got to play it for the first time. The general perception on TLOU2 and Naughtydog has shifted a lot in negative direction in recent years, judging by the dislike ratios on most of their trailers and videos on Youtube recently. It'd be interesting to observe how it will translate to sales when Intergalactic releases.

Of course, Concord is about THE biggest financial failure in entertaining industry, so it's unreasonable to assume every game with "woke" element will have a flop like Concord, but something like Veilguard is more likely. It might sell only half or less than harf of what a typical successful NaughtyDog games would sell, which is probably still a few millions in the end, but enough to not be considered successful and set off alarms in the Sony office.
